Re:Zero -Starting Life in Zero
Chapter 232 Playing House
Unable to break through after a prolonged siege, Reinhard knew that leaving any room for maneuver would only prolong the situation. His eyes narrowed, and the holy light around him suddenly receded, pouring all of it into the dragon sword in his hand.
The towering wind pressure began to gather above his head, and the golden light condensed to its extreme, becoming increasingly violent and heavy.
"Grimm, this is a serious strike from me."
He declared in a deep voice, his tone leaving no room for reservation:
"To continue, or to fall."
Green's breathing quickened slightly, his clothes already torn in several places by the sword energy. He raised his longsword, letting Cupid's pure white magic surge and boil, and the dormant Gluttony power within him completely merged with the intent of the sword.
Purple, devouring dark light swirled around the gleaming white blade, a mixture of holiness and eeriness, forming a contradictory yet terrifying power.
"Since you insist on a winner and loser..."
Green raised his head, his eyes burning with fighting spirit, but a calm smile appeared on his lips.
"Then I'll use my strongest move to take your Sword Saint's sword!"
The two faced each other from a distance, exchanging no further words.
Reinhard raised the Dragon Sword high, unleashing all his protective power. Vast golden light converged into a gigantic torrent of slashing force that swept across the heavens and earth, tearing through the air and crashing down upon Grin.
[The Holy Dragon's Judgment!]
Green gripped the Chubilt tightly with both hands, channeling all his energy into the sword.
The white and purple intertwined Devouring Sword Pressure condensed into a huge crescent moon sword radiance, which fiercely slashed forward against the golden torrent.
"When one person cries, true love conquers all!"
boom----------!!!
Two colossal, world-destroying energy torrents collided violently in mid-air!
The golden holy light and the white-purple devouring power collided, annihilated, and erupted wildly, and a terrifying shockwave instantly swept across the entire wilderness, tearing the clouds apart and causing the earth to tremble and crack violently.
A blinding light enveloped the entire field of vision, a gale howled, and magical turbulence surged wildly; even the air itself seemed to wail and distort.
Smoke and dust billowed and scattered, the violent aftershocks of magic still roamed freely between heaven and earth, the fractured ground was crisscrossed with ravines, and the torn clouds slowly regrouped.
As the dust settled, a tall and dazzling golden figure emerged from the mist.
Reinhard still stood tall and straight like a pine tree, his white robe was only slightly disheveled, and there was not a single scar on his body.
The Dragon Sword in his hand, Red, had its light dimmed, as if the immense power that had swept across the heavens and earth had never been used.
He lightly raised his wrist, casually brushing away the residual air currents swirling around the sword.
He looked calmly at Green across from him, his tone carrying a hint of fair praise, yet revealing an undeniable certainty.
"Well done, Mr. Green."
His tone shifted abruptly, and he gripped the longsword horizontally between his fingers, its blade pointing calmly at the disoriented Green.
"But unfortunately, these alone are not enough to defeat me."
Greene twirled his sword a few times and retorted with a smile:
"Huh? I think that's enough?!"
Reinhard immediately realized what was happening and instinctively looked around.
Wilhelm and Theresia, who were just lurking on the edge of the battlefield, have now vanished without a trace.
On the desolate plains, apart from the lingering, ravaged magic winds and the ravaged earth, there was no trace of the two of them.
The smoke and dust completely subsided, and even the remaining magic power gradually dissipated.
Reinhard looked around at the empty fields and realized that Wilhelm and Theresia had escaped in the chaos. He sighed softly and looked at Green in front of him.
"Mr. Green, is your choice really the right one?"
Green shrugged nonchalantly, gripping his longsword with a calm and confident expression.
"It's alright, I do have a way to bring your grandmother back to life."
No sooner had the words fallen than the Eight-Armed God of War, who had been lying on the ground, nearly dead, suddenly stirred.
He propped himself up with his broken body, enduring excruciating pain, and shakily managed to steady his teetering form.
The God of War stared intently at the two of them, his hoarse voice slowly rising:
"What a fantastic battle... I'm so lucky to witness the clash of two legends."
He took two deep breaths, his eyes filled with a mixture of regret and relief:
"Even though we were interrupted by those filthy guys along the way, today's scene is enough, hahaha!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the Eight-Armed Fighting God burst into laughter, a rough and unrestrained laugh that shook the surrounding gravel. In that laughter was the fervor of the epic duel between the two heroes, the satisfaction of surviving a calamity, and a carefree attitude that disregarded life and death.
However, before the laughter subsided, a sudden change occurred.
His body suddenly became transparent, and the remaining battle aura and magic around him receded like a tide, turning into countless tiny fragments of light. It was a sign that his life force had burned out and his soul and body had completely separated. His body rapidly disintegrated, turning into countless golden-gray dust particles that rose with the wind.
Reinhard watched the rapidly dissipating figure, a rare ripple appearing in his golden eyes. He took a slow step forward, reaching out his hand to touch the fading presence, but only managed to grasp a handful of breeze.
In the wind, the tattered figure gradually faded into nothingness, eventually disappearing without a trace.
Reinhard stood silently, gazing at the dust swirling in the air, and murmured softly, a hint of melancholy in his voice:
Did you rediscover yourself in the moments before death?
He turned around and looked at Green again, his blue eyes as deep as a pool, his voice carrying an undeniable solemnity.
"Mr. Green, if you want to do something, please hurry up."
His gaze swept across the still turbulent horizon in the distance, his tone cold and resolute.
"I cannot tolerate the fact that beneath the kingdom's peace lies a huge hidden danger capable of destroying everything."
The next second, he flashed several times, transforming into a golden streak of light and instantly disappearing at the edge of the battlefield, leaving only a faint trace of his presence in the wind.
As Green watched the direction he had left, the composure on his face slowly faded, replaced by a solemn expression.
He let out a long sigh, the white light of the Cupid in his hand dimmed, and the longsword was gently sheathed with a crisp, soft sound.
Just then, a lazy, slightly arrogant female voice drifted over from the other side of the battlefield.
"Alright, mortal."
Priscilla, holding an exquisite folding fan, slowly walked out.
Her dress was still spotless, but there was a hint of weariness in her eyes.
"I'm getting a little tired. If there's nothing interesting planned, I'll be heading back now."
As she spoke, she casually brushed a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, her eyes showing a hint of indifference towards the current situation.
Green's eyes darted around, and a sly smile immediately spread across his face: "Of course, Your Highness, want to play house?"
