Re:Zero -Starting Life in Zero

Chapter 107, Chapter 4

"The Harem King? Vatasiwa is Regulus Corneas, the Archbishop of Greed of the Witch Cult!"

Regulus repeated each word slowly and deliberately, with a chilling, sinister air, as if he were judging some unforgivable sin.

"You lowly ant, are you defiling my love for my wives? I love them all equally, and each of my wives has been given her her own unique phone number!"

"Um...sorry, I overslept..."

Emilia's clear voice rang out from behind Grimm, soft and sweet from just waking up, but she still hadn't forgotten what Grimm had said about not calling her by her real name.

The girl had been resting in the tent where Grimm and Rem were keeping watch, and only got out of bed when she heard a noise outside.

Emilia's long, silvery-white hair cascaded down her shoulders like moonlight, and her plain white dress was damp with morning dew, yet it did not diminish her innate holy aura in the slightest.

The moment the girl uttered those soft words, Regulus's previously calm and unchanging golden pupils suddenly contracted, as if he had discovered some treasure.

He stared intently at Emilia, and for the first time, a smile of interest appeared on her ordinary-looking face.

"Haha, what a pleasant surprise! It would be a shame if such a beautiful face were eaten by Lai Yi. Hey, you woman, how about becoming my 79th wife?"

"Huh? Regulus, what do you mean by this? I won't be full without a dessert!" Lei's hoarse voice was filled with obvious complaint.

Regulus then spared a moment to look away from Emilia, glancing at Ray with an undeniable arrogance:

"If you're not full, go and eat those soldiers, or swallow that beluga whale carcass too. There's plenty of food to fill your stomach."

Emilia was annoyed by such blunt and shameless words. She glanced at Grimm out of the corner of her eye, then coldly replied to Regulus:

"I don't want to marry a rude guy, and having a 79th wife sounds ridiculous!"

Green raised his hand to shield Emilia behind him, and looked at Old Ray with a mocking expression.

"I mean, why do impotent guys always like to collect young girls? And they even try to steal her away right in front of me, isn't that a bit too much?"

Betty snorted, completely disregarding the wretched fellow before her, and her tone returned to the haughty one she had in the library.

"What a boastful fellow! He even has a 79th wife. That sounds like he's even more of a womanizer than Green. But who knows if it's true or not? Is he just a king living in his own fantasy world? Sleeping in the cold wind every day, covered in greasy bedding, and the moment he closes his eyes, he's back in his illusionary castle."

"Wow, honey, you're so sarcastic!"

Green stared in disbelief, looking at Betty with adoration.

The young girl felt a little shy under their gaze and turned her head to the side.

"Baka! Keep your eyes on the enemy, and stop paying attention to me all the time."

On the other side, Regulus was furious.

His face visibly turned a deep liver color, and his once calm golden pupils now surged with a furious rage.

He clenched his fists tightly, his teeth grinding together, his features contorted in extreme rage.

"Shut up! You uncivilized barbarians! This is violating my right to pursue love!"

Regulus slammed his right foot into the ground, sending shards of stone flying. He charged at the crowd like a raging beast, unleashing a devastating aura.

Seeing that the other person was about to explode, Green inexplicably raised his hand to stop them, saying, "Wait a minute, I still have something to say!"

"If you have any last words, it's best to keep them brief."

Upon hearing this, Regulus actually stopped what he was doing, but his eyes, filled with murderous intent, remained fixed on Green.

Green found it amusing and shook his head contentedly.

The only redeeming quality of Regulus is probably that he enjoys listening to people finish speaking.

This likely stems from his obsession with "contracts" and "rules," which he has long ingrained into the underlying principles of his actions.

In Regulus's view, "dialogue" itself is also a kind of implicit contract. When one party speaks, the other party should fulfill the obligation to "listen to the end".

Green curled his lips into a wicked smile.

"Regulus, right? You look like a very honest guy. I happen to have a very outstanding woman I'd like to introduce you to. I'm sure you'll be satisfied."

Upon hearing this, Regulus's brows furrowed deeply, and the killing intent in his golden eyes faded slightly, replaced by intense vigilance and suspicion.

"Stop talking nonsense! Do you think such a clumsy trick can fool me? But if you offer up that silver-haired girl beside you, I might be magnanimous enough to let you die a little easier."

"What about trust between people? If you don't believe me, go to the capital and ask around. When has this prince ever lied to anyone?"

Green shrugged, his mischievous grin widening. He deliberately dragged out his words, speaking slowly and deliberately.

"That lady is gentle, virtuous, intelligent, and most importantly, incredibly beautiful. She's practically the seventy-ninth wife candidate tailor-made for you."

Regulus's breathing noticeably paused, and the wavering in his eyes became increasingly apparent.

After hesitating for a moment, he couldn't help but ask, "Then...where is she?"

Lei, listening from the side, grew impatient, his shark-like fangs grinding together, his hoarse voice full of complaints:

"Damn it, how much longer are you guys going to talk? Regulus, do you still want that pointy-eared woman? If not, I'll eat her too!"

"Shut up! Interfering in my conversation with others like that, are you trying to provoke me?!"

Regulus turned sharply and scolded him, clearly having been captivated by Green's words.

He looked at Green again, his eyes sharp as knives: "I'll ask you one more time, where exactly is my 79th wife? You'd better not lie to me, or I'll make you experience a pain worse than death!"

"Don't worry, I'll invite her out right away! Now, let's prepare for the welcoming ceremony."

Green's gaze darkened, and he waved towards the symphony orchestra: "Simon, the fourth chapter, pre-dinner prayer!"

Old Simon's expression became more solemn than ever before. He had a vague idea that the fourth chapter of the score must be the true meaning of their presence here.

He straightened his hunched back, raised his hands high, and drew a precise arc in the air with his well-defined fingers.

With a sharp jerk of Simon's wrist, the symphony orchestra, poised to unleash its full power, burst forth with a magnificent and enigmatic melody.

The powerful music, carrying an atmosphere of both solemnity and mockery, swept across the entire camp like a tide.

The old priest's deep, hoarse voice resonated throughout the tranquil wilderness from the moment he opened his mouth.

"A wolf girl dressed in human skin, carefully concealing her tail and claws. Hungry? Thirsty? Where is tonight's dinner hidden? Grandma ate an old woman, undigested flesh churning in her stomach. Tear it apart, let it flow, take everything in sight into her mouth... and then weep for her dead family..."
