Underworld: Starting with conquering countless lustful beauties
Chapter 92 The Mad Dog Gets a Setback
"But your brothers," Chen Feng's gaze swept over the fearful thugs around him, "they won't be so lucky. Gang fights, armed assaults—they'll all be in for it."
Mad Dog Qiang's face grew increasingly grim.
He knew Chen Feng was telling the truth. He himself had Deputy Director Liu protecting him, so he'd only be detained for a few days at most. But his underlings didn't have that kind of treatment; once arrested, they'd be in jail for at least three to five years.
How will Mad Dog Qiang survive in the underworld then? Who will dare to follow him?
"Brother Qiang! Let's get out of here!" his henchman cried out anxiously. "The police are on their way!"
Snake Eyes also joined in, his face grim as he whispered, "Brother Qiang, as long as we're alive, we can always make a comeback. This kid's lucky today; we'll deal with him another day."
Mad Dog Qiang's chest heaved violently, and the murderous intent in his eyes was almost overflowing.
But in the end, he slowly lowered the gun in his hand.
"Chen Feng, you just wait!" Mad Dog Qiang said, each word uttered with gusto, his voice sounding like it was being squeezed out from between his teeth. "I'll remember this debt! Sooner or later, I'll make you pay for it with interest!"
"I'm available anytime." Chen Feng slightly raised the muzzle of his gun, his smile unchanged. "Take care, Brother Qiang, don't bother seeing me out."
Mad Dog glared at him fiercely, then turned and roared, "Get the hell out of here!"
At the command, the thugs, as if granted a pardon, helped the wounded to their feet and scrambled down the mountain. Iron Head and Snake Eyes, flanking Mad Dog Qiang, also quickly departed.
In less than two minutes, only a mess remained at the entrance of the sand pit—broken steel pipes, bloodstained machetes, scattered cigarette butts, and the lingering smell of blood and gunpowder in the air.
Chen Feng then slowly put down his hunting rifle and let out a long sigh of relief.
His back was already soaked with cold sweat, but he still maintained a calm and composed expression on his face.
"Brother Feng!" Da Zhuang was the first to rush over, his face beaming with excitement. "We won! That bastard got away!"
"Win? What's there to win?" Chen Feng shook his head with a wry smile. "If the police hadn't arrived in time, all twenty-odd of us would be dead here."
He turned to Er Gou: "Put the gun away and hide it. If the police ask later, just say we acted in self-defense, that we were surrounded and attacked."
"Understood!" Er Gou took the hunting rifle and turned to run towards the warehouse.
No sooner had he finished speaking than several police cars arrived with sirens blaring and stopped at the entrance of the sand quarry.
The blinding police lights flashed in the night, illuminating the entire battlefield as if it were daytime.
The car door opened, and seven or eight uniformed police officers filed out. The one in the lead was a middle-aged man in his thirties, tall and with a resolute face; he was Zhao Gang, the director of the Nancheng District Police Station.
Zhao Gang glanced at the devastated scene and frowned deeply.
"Chen Feng!"
He strode over, his voice tinged with reproach: "You've got some nerve, haven't you! Making such a commotion, what are you trying to do?"
Chen Feng stepped forward and lowered his voice, saying, "Brother Zhao, thank goodness you arrived in time. Any later, and the lives and property of us law-abiding citizens would have been at risk."
Zhao Gang snorted: "Don't try to fool me. You call yourself a law-abiding citizen? What exactly happened? You'd better explain yourself clearly."
"Self-defense," Chen Feng said, shrugging. "Mad Dog Qiang brought forty or fifty people to vandalize my sand quarry. I was protecting my legal property, which is entirely in accordance with the law."
"Your battlefield?" Zhao Gang squinted.
"The contract was just signed; we'll go complete the transfer procedures tomorrow." Chen Feng pulled out the contract, still bearing Old Li's fingerprint, from his pocket. "If Brother Zhao doesn't believe me, you can ask Old Li."
Zhao Gang took the contract, looked at it, then looked at Chen Feng, his expression somewhat complicated.
This kid is really something else.
In just six months, he went from a penniless greenhorn to a prominent figure in the South District. He took over the security guards at the nightclub, started a building materials company, and now he's acquired a sand quarry. This kind of expansion is rare not only in the South District but also in the entire Donghai City.
"Alright, I understand. Were there any casualties?"
Chen Feng looked at his injured brothers: "Several brothers are injured. I'll take them to the hospital right away."
Zhao Gang handed the contract back to him and said in a deep voice, "Chen Feng, I have to remind you of something."
His voice was low, only the two of them could hear: "You haven't forgotten the person behind Mad Dog Qiang, have you? He'll definitely know about tonight's events. You'd better be prepared."
Chen Feng nodded, a hint of seriousness flashing in his eyes: "I understand. So, I'll have to trouble Brother Zhao for help with this."
"Help me my ass! What's our relationship? I'm just a lowly station chief, how much power can I possibly have?" Zhao Gang sighed. "I already warned you."
"Director Zhao, I understand." Zhao Gang looked at him meaningfully. "Mad Dog Qiang is vengeful. If you two have a conflict tonight, he definitely won't let it go."
Chen Feng said with a serious expression, "I'm just a businessman. If someone wants to cause trouble, I can only call the police."
"You'd better be." Zhao Gang's expression changed slightly, but he quickly returned to normal.
"Thank you so much, Brother Zhao," Chen Feng said sincerely.
"Call the police officer." Zhao Gang said impatiently, turning around and ordering his men to begin investigating the scene and taking statements.
Chen Feng stood aside, watching the busy police and the chaotic battlefield, but he felt little joy in victory.
Tonight's battle, while forcing the mad dog to retreat, also completely tore off all pretense of civility.
After working for most of the night, the police finally finished taking statements and left.
Chen Feng and Er Gou rushed to the hospital.
Donghai City Second People's Hospital.
The corridor of the emergency department was filled with the smell of disinfectant. Chen Feng sat on a bench, a nearly burned cigarette between his fingers, his brows furrowed.
In tonight's battle, eight of his brothers were injured.
Two people sustained serious injuries, including fractures and internal bleeding, and are currently in the operating room. The remaining six people sustained minor injuries and have been stitched up and bandaged; they are out of danger.
Dazhuang had been stabbed in the waist; it wasn't deep, but it still required over a dozen stitches. He was currently lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to an IV drip, cursing and saying he wanted to get revenge on Mad Dog Qiang.
Er Gou is in better condition; he only had a cut on his arm, but after it was bandaged, he was bouncing around and was downstairs buying late-night snacks for his brothers.
The monkey was the most seriously injured; the snake-eyed dagger left three cuts on his body, one of which nearly severed an artery. The doctor said he needed to be hospitalized for a few days for observation to ensure there was no infection.
"Brother Feng."
Er Gou came over carrying several bags of steamed buns and soy milk, and handed Chen Feng a cup.
"Have something to eat; you haven't slept a wink all night."
Chen Feng took the soy milk, took a sip, and the warm liquid flowed into his stomach, finally dispelling some of the chill.
"How's it going with Lao Li?"
"The monkey has sent someone to keep an eye on things," Er Gou said. "I've already called Wang Defa and told him to go to Lao Li first thing tomorrow morning to complete the transfer of ownership."
Chen Feng nodded: "That's good. Have the brothers take turns guarding the battlefield, to prevent Mad Dog Qiang and his gang from taking the opportunity to cause trouble."
"Don't worry, Feng, I've arranged everything."
