Chapter 52 Homelander's Adventures in Marvel

Chapter 53 Homelander's Adventures in Marvel (Unresolved)

Intentionally adopting a bad attitude in an attempt to lower someone's opinion of you.

"Really—" Mason hesitated for a moment, then finally came up with a somewhat fitting word: "Naive?"

"Lorna inherited that from her father; she's a very straightforward person," Charles said with a wry smile. "She's very intelligent, but she's definitely a bit slow when it comes to emotional intelligence. She probably still thinks this trick is working."

"...

""

This is a difficult situation to judge.

Although she doesn't smile, my impression of Lorna needs to be adjusted—her mental age has dropped by about ten years.

As expected of the daughter of a socialite, her emotional intelligence is indeed inherited from her ancestors. Her way of thinking might work in middle school, but in X-Men, which is full of adults, do you think a group of uncles and aunts wouldn't see through her intentions? Now the case is solved. No wonder what I've seen these past few days has been so awkward. If I were in her shoes, I would feel awkward too.

Wait a minute—if this logic holds true, why doesn't she reject me? She doesn't seem like the kind of person who would prey on strangers—something's not right, there's more to this than meets the eye.

Since the atmosphere had already reached this point, Mason casually voiced his doubts.

"Ah—that's what I mean."

Charles smiled and said, "Lorna's efforts weren't in vain. During her time outside, she did find some things that helped her situation. At first, she was reluctant to approach anyone, but as time went on, things changed. However, that's her secret, and I can't reveal it to her without permission. When the time is right, you can ask her yourself."

"Dividing the story into segments is just too unfair!" Mason complained. "Where did you come from, storyteller?"

"Hehe, after world peace is restored, I might go into a related job?" Charles picked up on Mason's joke. "Telling people stories from the past every day sounds like a job that would suit me perfectly."

Mason sighed. "So that's all I can say?"

Charles nodded. "I can't just tell you all my secrets at once, can I?"

"7

Is this the pain of being cut off from the story? I'm going to die.

"Well then, it's time for a checkup." Charles held out a hand to Mason, smiling as he gestured. "The counterfeit black mud inside Lorna's body is extremely dangerous. A fraction of one in two hundred million is enough to cause a person to suffer a severe mental breakdown. Apart from her being able to suppress it through the compatibility of her abilities, it would be fatal to anyone else. Although you don't seem to be infected, it would be best to get checked out just to be safe."

"Guest, trick him, trick him! Make him hand over that ball of malice; I can sell that for a high price!"

Black Stone Xia Yu was secretly stirring up trouble, but Mason chose to ignore her completely.

What a joke! Lying in front of the world's strongest psychic is just asking for trouble. He already has a plan for paying off his debts, so why would he bother with a high-difficulty challenge? Isn't that just plain crazy?

Mason grasped the professor's outstretched hand.

The next moment, a refreshing coolness seeped from his palms all the way to his body, invigorating him. A clear blue light shone in the professor's bright eyes, and the whole scene reminded Mason of a CT scan.

He had expected the process to be complicated, but just a few seconds later, Charles withdrew his hand, nodded to him, and said, "No problem, you are not infected."

"—So fast?"

"It's just checking if any black charcoal has mixed into a patch of snow; it's not that difficult," the professor replied. "Actually, Qin can help you, but her situation is more special. If she gets infected while checking your condition—something extremely terrible could happen."

What? A trigger-type Black Phoenix?

Just thinking about that scene almost made Mason shiver.

This world is truly terrifying.jpg

That's fine.

Charles then nodded to him: "Mason, you're a good person with a good character. I look forward to the changes you'll bring to the academy."

This is essentially an order to leave.

Mason nodded tactfully, waved, and turned to walk outside, saying, "See you later, Professor."

And so, after he left the brainwave enhancement machine, the heavy metal keypad door slowly closed, and he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Seriously speaking, Mason wasn't actually afraid of the threat Charles would pose to him by reading his mind. What he was worried about was that in the Deadpool massacre Marvel comic, the Professor X died of fright after reading Deadpool's mind that he was actually a comic book character. After a few encounters, Mason thought that the Professor X he met shouldn't be that fragile, but what if? What if the bald, wheelchair-bound man suddenly died while talking to him? Wouldn't he be turned into a spicy shredded chicken by the X-Men on the spot?

Thankfully, none of those scary stories happened.

Mason breathed a sigh of relief and retraced his steps, finding Qin at the first fork in the road.

"Are you done?"

Seeing him, Qin breathed a sigh of relief: "How are you?"

"It's nothing," Mason nodded in reply. "Should I go talk to Lorna now?"

"Did the professor tell you everything?" Jean said with a wry smile. "At least wait until tomorrow. Give Lorna some time to calm down."

"Alright," Mason shrugged. "I've heard a lot of scary things too, I need to calm down."

"That's fine then," Qin said. "The cafeteria is still open. I noticed you didn't seem to have eaten anything earlier. You can still make it if you go now. By the way, I recommend Grandma Sapir's blueberry pie on the first floor. It's delicious."

"I'll go try it right away."

Mason sighed and said, "I never imagined that being a teacher would be such an exciting thing—I really made the right choice coming to this academy."

Then, just as Qin was about to say something more, a piercing alarm sounded in front of the room at the end of the corridor.

"?!"

Mason was startled and blurted out, "What's going on?"

"—" Qin suddenly looked over there, shocked, "Empty—Damn it, why now?!"

After saying that, he hurriedly told Mason to "Get out of here quickly" and then ran towards the sound of the alarm.

-

Meanwhile, in the room where the hole was located, a big guy and two small guys were holding lunchboxes, staring blankly at the sensors that were flashing alarms.

They are Logan, Colossus, and Nightcrawler.

Previously, the professor had instructed that a three-person team should be stationed here 24 hours a day. Now it was their turn. They were eating their boxed lunches, chatting and laughing, when the alarm suddenly went off.

The alarm works on a simple principle: it sounds when the vibration waves emitted from the cavity suddenly intensify significantly. Based on previous observations, once the vibration waves begin to strengthen, it generally means that something is about to emerge.

Logan blinked, then immediately poured the entire portion of spaghetti he had just opened and taken a bite of into his mouth, swallowing it whole without chewing. The whole process was so smooth that he didn't even get his beard dirty.

The other two, however, lacked this ability and could only reluctantly put down their dinner and, according to their pre-planned strategy, set up a triangular formation around the hollow, remaining vigilant against any potential dangers.

According to Hank, what fell out this time should be heavyweight. If it's an inanimate object that doesn't move, that's fine, but if it's a hostile creature, a fierce battle is probably inevitable.

In the tense atmosphere, time slowly passed until, thirteen seconds after the alarm sounded, something finally fell from inside.

It was a blond man wearing a blue bodysuit and a red and white striped cape. He looked to be around thirty years old, with a handsome face and a meticulous appearance. Although the uniform had a superhero feel to it, he looked more like a celebrity walking the runway.

In less than a second, the three police officers arrived at a horrifying result.

This is superhuman!

The reason is simple: after he appeared, he did not land directly on the ground, but floated in mid-air!

Homelander, whose real name is John, is a superhuman created by an organization called Vought International in another world. He was born with extraordinary powers and, after reaching adulthood, debuted as an actor-type superhero through Vought International's financial operations. He is also the "strongest" in that world. According to propaganda, no weapon on Earth can kill him, and he has the power to defeat the entire world single-handedly.

Of course, the credibility of an entertainment company's propaganda is like that of a disillusioned middle-aged man who has drunk too much and boasts about how extravagant his youth was. In reality, Homelander, as a "superhero," has done things including but not limited to massacring civilians, company employees, younger heroes with physical disabilities, and his own fans. Some people may wonder why it's all about massacres, but that's because the other things he did simply can't be shown on an all-ages platform.

In short, setting aside the complex causes that shaped his personality, if we only look at his behavior, Homelander is an absolute scoundrel, the kind that everyone hates. Despite possessing considerable power, he can't do anything he wants and can only spend his days masturbating on rooftops, which is pathetic in every sense.

Just minutes before, he was leading an army of artificial superhumans, planning to storm the White House, then rule the United States, and finally the world. But just as he was about to take flight and deliver a passionate speech in mid-air to boost his morale, he was suddenly swallowed up by a pitch-black spherical space and fell to this inexplicable place.

What's going on? Who's plotting against me? Has that bunch of bastards from the Black Robe Guard come up with some new scheme? Or is it a new weapon from the army?

Suddenly I've moved from one place to another—space teleportation? Come to think of it, does Hugh Campbell, who's been called Temporary Number Five, have such an ability? Is it him? And where am I? A completely enclosed room filled with strange instruments—did those idiots think there was something on Earth that could trap my great homelander?

That's wishful thinking!

Then Homelander noticed the three people standing on the ground.

One was a man over two meters tall who seemed to be made entirely of steel; another was a short man with steel claws extending from his hands; and the third was a Smurf with a long tail.

Who the hell are these people?

Listen carefully.

Homelander cast a disdainful glance at the three and said arrogantly, "I don't care what promises William Butcher made to you that embolden you to stand in my way, but I can give you a chance. Tell me where this is, and then take me out—that way, you can join my army and share the glory after we conquer the world!"

Logan: "?"

Colossus: "?"

Nightcrawler: "?"

What is this person saying?.jpg

However, they truly did not expect that what emerged from the void this time would be an intelligent life form capable of communication, and it even seemed to be an English-speaking human! That's wonderful! Being able to speak means being able to communicate, which in other words means that fighting is not always necessary. Long live peace, my family!

"Hank, did you see that? It's a human! And it can talk!"

Colossus whispered into the walkie-talkie to Hank, who was sitting in the college office, "How about it? Shall we try communicating using the previous plan?"

"Do it that way, but you have to be careful what you say. Although he looks human and speaks English, what if there are cultural differences? Don't anger him and cause a human to appear in the cave! This is the first case in the world!"

Colossus nodded, then stepped forward, raising his hands and saying, "Sir, we mean no harm. This is the X-Men's underground base. If you need anything, we will meet your needs within the limits of feasibility."

What does this person mean? What are the X-Men? Is this another special forces team created by William Butcher?

Hmph, what a pathetic man. He clearly hates superhumans to the core, yet he has to rely on superhuman power to fight. I used to consider you an opponent, but now it seems you're nothing but worthless trash.

Thinking this, Homelander smiled proudly: "Tell me, where is William Butcher? Is he hiding in a bomb shelter shivering with the President of the United States?"

Colossus: "?"

What butcher? How did you end up bringing up the president? Did the president eat your rice?

Although completely bewildered, he still tried to communicate: "We don't know who William the Butcher is. As for the president—he should be having dinner at the White House right now. If you'd like, I can try calling the White House hotline for you?"

Hmph, trying to stall for time with a conversation? What's next? Are any weapons being prepared?

A strong sense of impatience flashed through the hearts of the people of the motherland.

It seems I was too kind in my words. I need death and bloodshed to make some ignorant fools understand my power!

The next instant, a bright red light flashed in his eyes, and a laser beam blasted into Colossus's chest.

Hmph, you think your body made of steel can protect you from my attacks? Don't dream. Even an airplane is no different from butter in front of my heat vision. I'll end your courage with death.

Caught off guard, Colossus felt a strong impact on his chest and was sent flying backward, crashing into the steel wall with a loud thud.

Homelander: "?"

Why—why didn't you shoot this person through?

This is what he didn't know. Although Colossus's physical defense is not as good as Adamantium and Vibranium, it is only inferior to those two. For him, being hit by a dump truck, being hit in the face by a large-caliber howitzer, or even being grabbed and beaten by the Hulk and Juggernaut are all minor incidents. At worst, he might get a dent, but he can heal himself afterward. Although there are limits, it is obviously not a level that Homelander can see through at a glance.

"You bastard!"

Seeing his polite companion suddenly attacked, Logan immediately became furious: "What are you doing? We didn't attack you!"

He was met with another intense gaze, directed straight at his head.

With a loud bang, the immense heat quickly burned through the flesh on Logan's head, triggering a sizable explosion. This would have been fatal to an ordinary person, but for Old Wolf, it was barely more than a mosquito bite.

"Okay, okay, I understand."

The next second, Homelander saw a scene that was too horrifying for him to bear.

The man, who should have had his entire head, or even half his body, blown apart as expected, not only stood up but even walked towards him. After the smoke cleared, he saw muscles, eyeballs, and soft tissue growing out of a skull that gleamed with iron light at a speed that was almost imperceptible to the naked eye. In an instant, it was completely restored to its original state, and even the hairstyle was not changed.

Who the hell are these people?

Except for a couple of rare occasions, Homelander, who usually only managed to kill people instantly, was stunned for a moment. Then, in a blur, he saw the man with steel claws on both hands leap into the air and pounce on him.

"!"

Homelander was startled and dodged to the side, avoiding Logan's attack. But the next instant, another metal cabinet came crashing down on him. "Sukabrie!"

Colossus, who had thrown the cabinet, spat and roared, "Since you can't understand human language, I'll drag you down and beat your ass until it's bruised and battered!"

As for Nightcrawler—he had little combat ability and ran away to call for reinforcements the moment he saw the conflict break out.

Surrounded by two menacing police officers, Homelander, unusually, hesitated for a moment.

Was it really a problem with my play this game?

But since the conflict had already begun, it would only stop when one of them was lying on the ground. Logan swung his claws with great force, and Colossus's fists clattered together – this was the prelude to an intense battle!
