Pokémon: I have no choice but to do this old thing?

Chapter 27: Baby Dragon's Choice

The moment Zhang Jianying fell backward, it was as if the world had been muted.

"Ah Jian! Um! Jie!"

Three anxious calls rang out simultaneously. Gastly and Torkoal rushed out of their Poké Balls with all their might, and the three wounded figures pounced on the fallen trainer.

"Aww!"

A strange cry, tinged with panic, rang out. The baby dragon froze on the spot, watching the human who had just been about to take it away from its "cage" collapse. The pride it had been trying to maintain shattered instantly, replaced by a bewildered panic.

Despair surged in again like a cold tide, this time carrying the heavy smell of blood and burnt objects.

The Pokémon stood still, looking at the fallen human, and then at the three Pokémon surrounding him, groaning in sorrow.

Its small chest heaved violently.

Failed product... Highly aggressive... Observation target...

The cold electronic voice echoed again in the depths of my mind, accompanied by Mewtwo's words: "...the pattern...is the medal you wear to shatter fate and be reborn in blood."

Two voices were tearing at its mind.

It's going to disappear again, just like before... Since I can't catch it, I might as well take matters into my own hands and end it completely!

A paranoid thought spread through its mind like poison. The baby dragon's eyes were filled with a mixture of ferocity and confusion, and a faint spark appeared in its throat. It wanted to personally put an end to this brief possession.

Kirlia turned her head, locking onto the baby dragon with malice, her eyes sharp and warning.

A thin yet resilient mental barrier unfolded, silently separating Baby Dragon and Zhang Jianying.

The familiar energy fluctuations caused the precious dragon's scales to stand on end, and the terrifying memories of the laboratory returned.

Don't even think about it.

Kirlia's clear will, like a cold, sharp sword, pierced the Beast Dragon's mind. There was no anger, only a strong will to protect.

Besides the instinctive fear of superpowers, a strong sense of resentment and anger surged within Baby Dragon.

"It's happening again, that annoying energy again!"

It hated the feeling of this energy, and it hated even more the guy who could so naturally stand in front of the trainer!

Your pain is not a reason to hurt him.

Baby Dragon froze, the energy in its throat forced back.

It stared intently at Kirlia, its eyes filled with both fear of psychic powers and a stubborn, unyielding spirit. It remembered the oppressive aura, and it remembered Kirlia as its "opponent."

At this delicate moment, orderly footsteps echoed from the entrance of the passageway.

Gastly's anxious voice, accompanied by Arcanine's growl and Officer Jenny's command, came through clearly: "Quick! Seal all exits! Medics, follow!"

Uniformed police officers flooded in like a tide, quickly taking control of the scene, while the speed dogs twitched their noses, vigilantly searching for any possible hidden enemies.

Following closely behind were medical staff and Happy Egg, pushing stretchers and medical equipment, and healing fluctuations began to flicker on the scene.

Kirlia sensed a large number of life forms carrying emotions of "order" and "justice" rapidly approaching, among which were two familiar auras. Its tense nerves finally relaxed.

It recognized one of the tokens as belonging to Gosho Ace. The other, which carried a reassuring aura, belonged to Champion Cynthia.

Cynthia and Gosho quickly entered the messy area, their eyes sweeping across the entire scene.

Cynthia's blonde hair was still striking in the dim light. She immediately locked her gaze on the unconscious Zhang Jianying and the Pokémon beside him, her eyes sharp and concerned.

"Prioritize treating the wounded and Pokémon!"

Cynthia's voice was clear and powerful, carrying a comforting quality that calmed the somewhat chaotic atmosphere.

Wusong had already squatted down, adjusted his glasses, and ran his fingertips over the remains of the instrument that Mewtwo had turned to dust. His bronze bell and Alakazam floated to the side, emitting a faint light as they scanned.

"This destructive power...and this technology..."

He frowned. "Dark Star's actions are becoming increasingly dangerous."

With her last ounce of Nen, Kirlia sent a brief but firm message to Baby Dragon: "He's safe. His rescuers have arrived."

At the same time, it nodded gently to the forest turtle and the gasp.

Baby Dragon looked at Kirlia, a complex emotion welling up within it. It feared that superpower, yet inexplicably wanted to challenge that composure; it was perplexed by this unity, yet longed to replace it and become the one closest to that "place of belonging."

Baby Dragon slowly, step by step, retreated to the side of the unconscious Zhang Jianying.

Instead of sticking close to him like the three little ones, she chose a position where she could touch the hem of his clothes and be ready to deal with any threat from any direction, and lay down.

It used its body to mark out a small area, declaring to the three little ones: This is my share too.

Medical staff and the lucky eggs quickly stepped forward, and professional examinations and initial treatments were immediately initiated.

After confirming that her trainer was being taken good care of, Kirlia could no longer hold on and collapsed into the arms of Blissey.

The forest tortoise and the Gastly were also carefully guided by professionals to receive initial treatment.

Only the baby dragon let out a more intense growl when the medical staff tried to approach, and even attempted to attack.

"Don't force it."

Cynthia gently stopped the doctor who was trying to approach, keenly sensing the abnormality of the baby dragon. "Its injuries may not be just physical."

Zhang Jianying was carefully lifted onto a stretcher.

The moment he was moved, Baby Dragon stood up and stayed close to the stretcher, never leaving its side.

No one could make it leave; in its crimson eyes, only this unconscious human remained—this fragile, easily broken "place" it had just found.

Outside the base, night was falling...
