Pokémon: I have no choice but to do this old thing?
Chapter 11: Morning Training and Bear Attack
In the early morning at the campsite, Zhang Jianying gently awoke to the soft swaying of the grass, his sleeping bag beneath him feeling like a warm cradle. He groggily thought that this feeling was even more comfortable than the most luxurious massage chair.
Since discovering that the grassy area where the baby turtles roamed was slightly different from what I remembered, as if it had undergone some magical changes after being blessed, the quality of life at the camp has improved dramatically.
After communicating that maintaining this skill didn't require much effort, he joked, "Brother Turtle, other Pokémon's Grassy Terrain has a duration, but yours has become a semi-permanent talent? Anyway, your consumption isn't high, so why don't you consider working part-time as a mobile Pokémon center?"
Unexpectedly, the grass turtle took these words to heart. From then on, it would silently unfold a grassy field every night to help the trainer and the big sister recover the energy they had used up during the day.
"Brother Turtle," Zhang Jianying said, stepping out of the tent and patting the warm shell beside him sleepily, "I want to talk to you about something. Could you add a vibration function to this grassy area? The kind that gently vibrates at a certain time to wake me up."
The tortoise lazily opened one eye, gave its trainer a disdainful look, and the tender leaves on its head drooped listlessly.
It groggily increased the frequency of its pacing on the grassy field, the rhythm clearly carrying a hint of defiance. After doing this, it resumed its snoring, photosynthesizing in the morning sunlight.
"Well, is this the maximum power of the massage chair?" Zhang Jianying couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Just then, a cool psychic wave gently brushed across his forehead. Looking up, he saw Kirlia hovering in the morning light, her eyes gleaming with a gentle psychic light. This psychic wave, like cool dew, perfectly dispelled his last vestiges of sleepiness.
"Your service is too thorough." He stretched and gave a thumbs up with a smile. "One is in charge of cradle, and the other is in charge of energizing. If this continues, I'll be spoiled like a landlord from the old society."
Kirullian gracefully twirled around and used her telekinesis to deliver a carefully prepared breakfast, with thin slices of grapefruit neatly placed in Zhang Jianying's palm.
The tortoise twitched its nose at the aroma of breakfast, but remained lazily lying in place, motionless. Kirlia smiled indulgently at her younger brother who was still in bed, and turned to prepare breakfast for him later.
......
"Let's do something special for morning training today." Zhang Jianying drew a line in the open space. "Let's see who has the better control over their skills."
It started as a test. As usual, Turtwig flung out a few Leaf Blades, which Kirlia caught deftly with her psychic powers in the form of a transparent hand, playfully weaving the leaves into a smiley face in the air.
The grass-fed turtle snorted defiantly. The second wave of flying leaves suddenly accelerated, drawing tricky arcs in the air, like a green meteor shower attacking from all directions.
"That's really good. This flying leaf knife is almost like an acrobatic performance." Zhang Jianying couldn't help but exclaim.
A cunning glint flashed in Kirlia's eyes. She condensed her psychic power into fine needles, precisely piercing the center of the veins of each leaf. The pierced leaves instantly lost their strength, falling like butterflies with broken wings.
This scene completely ignited the grass turtle's competitive spirit. It took a deep breath, and dozens of leaves whistled out. These leaves were not only covered with a pale green halo, but also constantly changed their trajectory in flight, like a small leaf storm.
Kirlia spread her psychic powers into a vast net, but the moment she touched the leaves, she sensed something amiss—these leaves were covered in Seed Bomb energy. Unfazed, however, she slightly increased her power and calmly detonated each leaf carrying Seed Bomb energy, causing a series of small fireworks to explode in the air.
When it was Kirlia's turn to attack, it displayed astonishing precision. Its materialized psychic energy, like a crystal shuttle, first pierced through the cluster of leaves with perfect circles, then simultaneously struck the same spot on three flying leaves, and finally even played tricks—"embroidering" intricate smiley face patterns on the rapidly flying leaves.
The Turtwig was completely ignited. Its flying leaves began to spin, and it even used the skill "Shell Hatch" to greatly increase its attack power. Meanwhile, Kirlia's psychic powers became increasingly agile, sometimes transforming into thin blades to sever leaf stems, sometimes into heavy hammers to shatter leaves, and sometimes gently changing the trajectory of the leaves like a breeze.
"These two little guys..."
He watched the increasingly exciting battle of offense and defense, feeling both gratified and amused. Their progress far exceeded expectations, yet they always maintained just the right balance.
The intense training session ended at noon. The Torterra, exhausted, lay panting on the ground, its leaves dull and lifeless, like a blade of grass wilted by the sun. Kirlia's descent was also devoid of its usual elegance; it nearly tumbled headfirst into a snowdrift, but thankfully managed to steady itself with its psychic powers.
Even though she was exhausted, Kirlia gently used her psychic powers to clean the dust off Turtwig's shell and straighten Zhang Jianying's collar. Seeing this, Turtwig also worked hard to create a grassy field, and a verdant halo enveloped everyone like a thin mist.
"Good grief, you guys are stealing the Pokémon Center's business!" He couldn't help but tease as he felt his fatigue slowly dissipate and looked at the two little ones who had regained their energy.
Taking out the Pokémon food he had prepared in advance, Zhang Jianying couldn't help but rub their heads as he watched the heartwarming scene of the two little guys snuggling together and sharing the food.
"roar!"
Heavy footsteps suddenly echoed through the woods, accompanied by a familiar low growl.
The circly bear that had been harassing the camp for days reappeared, but this time its eyes were exceptionally fierce. Its nearly two-meter-tall body swung its arms, its paws slamming against tree trunks, sending snow tumbling down, making it look like a bully coming to collect a debt.
"This is never going to end. We need to teach it a lesson and settle this today." Zhang Jianying scratched his hair in frustration and suddenly stood up.
Kirlia's eyes also flashed with anger—even the most good-natured Pokémon couldn't stand being bothered like this for days. It immediately went into battle mode, and although its stamina hadn't fully recovered, the glow of its psychic powers still shone around it.
The massive Ursaring's body rolled over the bushes like a tank. Kirlia swiftly unleashed a powerful psychic strike aimed at its knee, but this time the Ursaring only staggered half a step, its charging speed undiminished!
"They're pretty resilient; they've learned from being beaten up." Zhang Jianying frowned slightly.
Seeing this, the Turtle immediately set up a quicksand hell in front of the camp, while simultaneously unleashing a dense barrage of leaf blades to obstruct the view. The enraged Ursaring used a cleave attack, its claws flashing white light as it ripped through the leaves and quicksand with a powerful gust of wind.
It grinned triumphantly, its arms wreathed in black, malevolent energy as it charged forward—a sneak attack on vital points!
"Kirlian, attack all weaknesses simultaneously!"
Kirlia's eyes blazed with light as several condensed, materialized strands of psychic energy shot out simultaneously, precisely striking the energy bottlenecks throughout Ursaring's body. The intense energy disruption made Ursaring feel as if it had suddenly lost its breath, howling as it was about to collapse to the ground.
But just before it was about to fall, Ursaring mustered its last strength and swung its paw, "Ambush the Vital Point" directly at the nearest Kirlia!
"Instant teleportation...Turtwig!?"
Zhang Jianying's command was timely, but as Kirlia's eyes flickered, images of the next few seconds flashed through its mind. A smile appeared on its lips, and it abandoned its plan to use teleportation.
It turned out that Turtwig had been on guard all along. Just as Ursaring was about to fall, it rushed in front of Kirlia, its shell flashing with a blue glow indicating that the "Retract into Shell" move had successfully boosted its defense, making it look like a shield that had suddenly been erected.
The sharp claws collided with the shell, producing a deafening roar. The grass turtle was thrown backward several steps by the force, leaving three shocking white marks on its brownish-green shell.
"Now's the time, you little turtle! Finish it off with brute force!"
The Turtwig suddenly raised its head, a glint of light flashing in its eyes. Its nearly one-meter-tall body generated immense kinetic energy, mixed with the brownish-red glow characteristic of Fighting-type moves, as it charged forward, ramming into Ursaring's chest with all its might.
"Boom—the effect is outstanding!"
The circle bear finally collapsed completely, its circle eyes rolling, and the snowflakes it stirred up fluttered like cotton wool in the sunlight.
When the bear roused itself again, it was surprised to find the tortoise that had taken its blow healing it in the grassy field.
The emerald green halo, carrying the blessing of the forest, slowly restored its strength, leaving it bewildered by this treatment.
Zhang Jianying placed a few pomelos next to the teddy bear and casually slapped it on the head: "Eat them, but don't come back again. Why can't you learn your lesson?"
The circle bear looked at the human in confusion, then let out a low growl, picked up the fruit, and staggered away in the sunset.
This time, it finally made up its mind never to come again—after all, being defeated and then having to be healed was just too much of a blow to the bear's pride.
As dusk deepened, Kirlia was using healing medicine to repair Torterra's shell. Her movements were as gentle as if she were repairing a precious piece of porcelain, and the glow of her psychic powers flowed subtly through the cracks.
Her crimson eyes held both relief at her younger brother's courage in protecting her and obvious heartache.
"That was too reckless, you little grass turtle." Zhang Jianying muttered to himself while preparing dinner, but his voice was filled with undisguised pride. "However, your actions in protecting your companions were excellent."
The Turtwig gently rubbed against his leg and patted its shell with its forelimbs, indicating that it was alright. Kirlia also walked over to the trainer's side, insisting on checking the cuts on his arm caused by the flying pebbles.
With the combined healing power of the grassy field and his superpowers, the minor wounds quickly disappeared without a trace. Feeling this warmth, Zhang Jianying chuckled, "Traveling with you all, I'm afraid I'll never need any healing medicine again."
As the night sky spreads its star carpet, the tired little guys have already drifted off to sleep. Turtwig unconsciously maintains its cradle mode on the grassy field, while Kirlia uses a wisp of psychic energy to create a thin blanket before going to sleep, gently covering its trainer's shoulders like a caring little housekeeper.
Zhang Jianying tucked them in and whispered in the starlight, "Goodnight, Kirulian. Goodnight, turtle."
A cold wind howled through the forest, but the campsite was warm as spring. Zhang Jianying lay on the grassy ground where the Turtle had its own "rocking fun," feeling Kirlia still using her psychic powers to cover him with a "blanket" in her dream.
"This guy's not a trainer at all..."
He looked up at the starry sky and chuckled softly.
"Clearly a lucky one who's been spoiled rotten..."
At this moment, the ice in his heart is slowly melting under the meticulous care of the two little ones. The days when he faced danger alone as an anti-poaching officer are gradually fading away in these warm daily moments. This hard-won warmth is the most precious treasure in his life.
The starlight is gentle, the campfire is warm...
