After lunch, the living room was indeed much quieter.

Because his daughter had forgiven him, An Jianxing was in a good mood, and in his happiness, he drank two extra cups of wine at noon.

An Jianxing drank a lot, so Ye Guoqiang naturally had to keep him company. Now they've all gone back to their rooms to catch up on sleep.

Shen Jingwan sat on the sofa next to her, holding a bag of potato chips.

Shen Jingwan had a great time eating potato chips today, and she didn't think it was a waste to feed the dog any food. On the contrary, she thought the little thing was really cute.

This led to him wanting more potato chips after finishing his own, and Shen Jingwan would give him more each time. As a result, he ate so many potato chips that he was stuffed. Now, his little belly was round and bulging, and he was lying comfortably on Shen Jingwan's lap, almost falling asleep.

Shen Jingwan stroked its fur gently, but her eyes were fixed on the two children on the other side of the sofa who were engrossed in tinkering with something.

This time, the two of them brought back not only potato chips from Yunduanyuan, but also a large box.

I remember when Ye Shu celebrated his birthday last time, Xia Qing gave him a game console.

But Ye Shu was always so busy that he was exhausted when he got home at night and all he wanted to do was make a sausage without any dreams. So this thing just sat next to the TV cabinet as a decoration.

When Xia Qing went back to Yunduanyuan to pick up the potato chips today, she immediately noticed this not-so-cheap ornament. She kicked the box and asked:

"Ye Shu, why aren't you playing the game console I bought you?"

"I don't have time to play."

Ye Shu was putting the dog leash on Potato Chips when she replied without looking up:

"After a busy day, I come home at night feeling like my bones are about to fall apart."

"But you're free today, aren't you?"

Xia Qing's eyes lit up, and she immediately made a decision:

"Take it! Go play with it over there!"

So, this brand-new, unopened game console arrived at Anjia Villa along with the potato chips.

Right now, Ye Shu is squatting in front of the TV, flipping through the instruction manual in her hand.

Xia Qing sat on the stall, taking things out of the box.

"This wire... which end should I plug it into?"

Ye Shu held a string, stood up again, and looked behind the TV with her head against the wall.

"What's there to worry about? Just try inserting it. If you insert it incorrectly, it probably won't go in anyway."

Xia Qing offered a bad suggestion from the side, and seeing that Ye Shu ignored her, she leaned over and tried to snatch the instruction manual:

"Let me see... Oh, this is for connecting to the TV. Hey, are you stupid? Isn't it marked on here?"

Ye Shu wasn't incapable, he just didn't dare. This thing was a luxury item for him, a treasure, just like a new toy his parents bought for him when he was a child. Once he got it, he certainly wouldn't dare to play with it too much, for fear of breaking it.

Xia Qing complained, but she held the cable and shoved it directly at the game console, not caring at all.

But seeing her actions made Ye Shu's heart clench, and she whispered a word of advice:

"Be gentle...don't hit it too hard..."

After fiddling around for a while, the two finally managed to connect the game console to the TV.

Turning on the computer, setting the language, connecting to the internet, registering an account... this whole process takes another ten minutes or so.

After everything was set up, Ye Shu breathed a sigh of relief as he looked at the interface on the TV screen. To be honest, he felt quite accomplished.

Xia Qing couldn't wait any longer, grabbed a controller and stared at the screen:

"Alright, let's play!"

However, after clicking, there was nothing except for the system's default icons.

She had never touched this before, nor had she ever researched it; she was a complete novice. After pressing a few buttons and finding no game, she turned to Ye Shu and asked:

"Huh? Where's the game? Why isn't there a game?"

Ye Shu suddenly realized, "Oh right, I didn't buy the game."

He looked at Xia Qing and smiled:

"Um... this game has to be purchased separately."

"What?!"

Xia Qing glared at her and said:

"When I bought it at the store, the clerk didn't tell me that the game had to be bought separately! I thought buying the console included everything!"

"It's okay, you can buy it online too. You can buy it directly from this store, download it and start playing."

Ye Shu quickly opened the shop and showed it to Xia Qing.

Xia Qing looked at the games on the screen, most of which had prices starting in the hundreds, and for a moment she seemed a little overwhelmed:

"So, after buying this machine, I have to pay extra for the game? What's the difference between this and buying a book but not getting any words to read?"

Shen Jingwan watched the two children staring at each other and couldn't help but smile, especially at her daughter's adorable expression of being tricked.

Fortunately, Xia Qing was also a quick learner. Looking at the game on the screen, she muttered something.

"At least we can play. At worst... at worst we can just miss out on a good meal."

As she spoke, she immediately perked up, moved closer to Ye Shu, and the two of them, shoulder to shoulder, began to browse and select items in the store.

Choosing this game is a skill; it has to suit Xia Qing's taste, and Ye Shu has to be able to play it reasonably well. Most importantly, the two of them must be able to play together.

Xia Qing stared at the screen, scrolling through her notes:

"Was that a minor accident with the race car?"

"This zombie-fighting game looks so cool."

"This person is no good at dancing; it's boring to watch."

Xia Qing's gaming preferences are for exciting and thrilling games. After looking around, she finally chose the zombie game, because she wanted that feeling of blood splattering all over the screen.

After paying, Xia Qing leaned against Ye Shu, ready to enter the zombie world and wreak havoc, but a progress bar popped up on the screen.

"Are you done?"

Xia Qing was bored, so she leaned on Ye Shu's shoulder, unbuttoned Ye Shu's shirt, and then buttoned it up again.

"It'll be a while; this has only just begun."

Ye Shu replied, ignoring her hand.

A little while later, Xia Qing leaned against Ye Shu and bumped her head against his shoulder repeatedly.

"Are you done...?"

"It's halfway done, wait a little longer."

A while later, Xia Qing lay on his lap, reached out and pinched Ye Shu's chin, gently tugging at it to make Ye Shu's mouth open and close.

"Coming right away? Why are you taking so long?"

"It'll be there soon, just wait a little longer."

Ye Shu coaxed her, then suddenly lowered his head and pretended to bite Xia Qing's finger, which startled Xia Qing so much that she quickly withdrew her hand and jokingly scolded him for being as dog-like as potato chips.

Shen Jingwan had already left, and Potato Chips was asleep on the carpet at Xia Qing's feet.

"Why is playing a game so difficult? It's almost four o'clock, and I still haven't gotten to play..."

"That's normal. That's what they call having to pay betrothal gifts before marrying a wife. It's a bit slow this time, but you can play it as soon as you open it later."

The game downloaded as soon as Ye Shu finished speaking.

Xia Qing sat up with a jolt, grabbed the handle, and started shaking it:

"Come on, let's begin!"

As she spoke, Xia Qing nudged Ye Shu with her elbow:

"Come with me in a little while, I'll protect you."

"Okay, okay."

Ye Shu smiled and opened the game.

After a series of manufacturer logos, a zombie with half its face rotten suddenly pounced on the screen, and then Ye Shu felt something appear in his arms.

Looking down, he saw Xia Qing's upper body had burrowed into his arms from the side, clearly startled.

She realized what was happening, but instead of moving away, she found a comfortable position in Ye Shu's arms and lay down.

"What are you looking at? I'll find a comfortable position, don't move, just play like this."

Shen Jingwan, who was carrying washed fruit out of the kitchen, immediately saw the two people on the sofa. She smiled, turned around and went back, deciding not to disturb them.
