Ye Shu stared, mouth agape, at An Suxue, whose demeanor was completely different from that of the daytime. His brain felt like it was about to burn out.

Is this really the same person? The socially awkward girl who hugs a carrot pillow and speaks in a whisper?

Seeing that he couldn't utter a sound after a long while and still looked dazed, An Suxue clicked her tongue impatiently, walked up to him, and frowned as she looked him up and down:

"I'm asking you a question! Why aren't you sleeping in the middle of the night? Are you sleepwalking?"

Startled by the slightly reprimanding tone, Ye Shu finally came to her senses and quickly explained:

"Miss An... I... I'm a little hungry, I'd like to find something to eat..."

"Stop!"

An Suxue raised her hand to interrupt him, while shaking the can of ice-cold beer in her other hand:

"I'm not An Suxue. Just call me Xia Qing."

Not An Suxue? Ye Shu was stunned for a moment, his gaze quickly sweeping back and forth between Xia Qing and the master bedroom door.

Twins! They must be twin sisters! This thought illuminated all his confusion like a flashlight. No wonder the rental ad said "landlords may change frequently," it turned out the two sisters lived together, and everything made sense.

He suddenly felt a sense of sudden enlightenment, let out a long sigh of relief, and his tone became relaxed:

"Ah! I see, then you must be Miss An's older sister! No wonder I felt... um... that your temperament was quite different."

He was too embarrassed to say directly, "One looks like a rabbit and the other looks like a leopard."

Xia Qing found Ye Shu's "I'm so smart" expression somewhat amusing. She neither admitted nor denied it, but simply raised an eyebrow, a playful smile on her face, and asked in return:

"Did Xiaoxue tell you that?"

Ye Shu honestly shook his head:

"No, I was just guessing. Could it be...wrong?"

Xia Qing waved her hand dismissively, tilted her head back and gulped down a beer, then sprawled out on the sofa with her long legs casually draped over the coffee table.

"You're not wrong to think that way."

She was too lazy to explain anything. Since the kid had come up with the most reasonable explanation in his own mind, she was happy to have some peace and quiet.

"Alright, stop standing there like an idiot. If you're hungry, go to the kitchen and rummage around. There should still be some instant noodles or something."

Ye Shu was a little confused by her overly familiar yet slightly disdainful attitude, so he quickly nodded:

"Oh, okay, thank you Xia... Sister Xia Qing."

Xia Qing waved her hand, her attention seemingly already turned to the television, and casually picked up the remote control and turned it on.

Ye Shu responded as she tiptoed into the kitchen.

He opened the cupboard and, sure enough, found several packets of instant noodles in different flavors. He took one, boiled water, and was still pondering:

The two sisters have such different personalities. But that's okay, he feels more relaxed and comfortable with the older sister Xia Qing's straightforward personality than with the younger sister An Suxue, who is more easily startled.

Ye Shu carried the steaming hot instant noodles back to the living room and carefully sat on the single sofa on the side, trying not to make a sound.

On the sofa next to her, Xia Qing was intently watching the football match on the TV screen, holding a beer can in one hand, her body leaning slightly forward in rhythm with the game.

Seeing a brilliant attack thwarted, she slapped her thigh and shouted in frustration:

"Oh no! This ball didn't go in?!"

Startled by the sudden loud voice, Ye Shu shrank back, quietly slurping his noodles and muttering to himself:

With all that commotion, An Suxue in the opposite room didn't react at all? This girl isn't very brave, but her sleeping quality is truly remarkable…

As the game progressed, more and more empty beer cans accumulated on the coffee table. At halftime, Xia Qing reluctantly smacked her lips, rubbing her slightly disheveled hair as she stood up. Completely disregarding her image, she muttered to herself while rubbing her temples:

"Where did you hide it...? You clearly did last time..."

She began to rummage aimlessly through the living room, pulling open drawers and lifting the corners of sofa cushions.

Finally, her gaze settled on the back of the TV cabinet. She bent down, reached inside with all her might, and pulled out a large bag of nuts and snacks that were hidden away.

"Hey!"

She proudly weighed the snacks in her hand, then plopped back down on the sofa.

"You're still too green to mess with me!"

As she spoke, she ripped open the packaging bag with a ripping sound, grabbed a handful of nuts and stuffed them into her mouth, then took a big gulp of beer and continued watching her game, completely ignoring Ye Shu throughout the entire process.

Ye Shu silently finished the last bite of noodles, looked at the unrestrained older sister in front of him, and glanced at the closed master bedroom door across the way. An extremely unreal feeling welled up in his heart again.

These two sisters are like heaven and earth.

He quietly picked up the empty bowl, slipped into the kitchen, carefully washed it clean, and put it away.

When he returned to the living room, Xia Qing was still engrossed in the game and showed no reaction to what he had just said.

Ye Shu didn't say anything, quietly returned to her room, and gently closed the door.

In the living room, only the passionate voice of the football commentator and Xia Qing's occasional cheers or complaints remained. Ye Shu drifted off to sleep again amidst this white noise.

The next morning, Ye Shu was awakened by the anxiety of reality. The meager hundred-odd yuan in his bank account prevented him from staying in bed. He had to find a job immediately.

He tiptoed out of the room. The living room was quiet, and the bedroom door across the hall was tightly shut. He planned to get something to eat first, and then begin his day of job hunting.

"I need to borrow something for now, I'll definitely get it back later..."

As soon as he entered the kitchen, he muttered to himself, and then opened the refrigerator door with hope.

All I found were a few cans of beer, a lone banana, and some jellies; the freezer only contained ice cream.

Ye Shu's lips twitched. Undeterred, he turned around and started rummaging through the cupboard again.

There were a few packets of instant noodles of different flavors in the cabinet, but otherwise it was empty.

There was no rice, no noodles, not even the most basic oil, salt, soy sauce, or vinegar.

Do this family... actually cook at home regularly?

Holding a packet of instant noodles, Ye Shu couldn't help but stare at the empty cupboard and ask a thought-provoking question.

A slight noise came from the master bedroom door, followed by soft footsteps. Ye Shu subconsciously turned her head to look.

Someone came out. This person looked like An Suxue, but she was different from the timid An Suxue and Xia Qing.

Her long hair was elegantly styled in a bun, revealing her smooth neck. She wore a high-quality, plain-colored dress, which made her look mature and gentle.

A gentle smile graced her face, her eyes warm. When she saw Ye Shu standing in the kitchen, holding a packet of instant noodles, her eyes curved into beautiful crescents, and her smile deepened.

This aura… Ye Shu’s heart skipped a beat. It wasn’t An Suxue, nor Xia Qing.

Who is this?

She approached with light steps, her voice gentle, carrying a warmth that was like a spring breeze:

"Good morning, little Shu. Are you preparing breakfast?"

Her gaze swept over the instant noodles in Ye Shu's hand and the boiling kettle beside him, and she smiled somewhat apologetically:

"Is there not enough food in the kitchen? I'm so sorry, we don't usually... well, we don't cook very often."

Looking at her composed demeanor and proper speech, Ye Shu compared it to Xia Qing's beer and football match last night, and the kitchen that had almost nothing but instant noodles, and a feeling of utter absurdity welled up in his heart again.
