Full-Time Wizard: Starting with Harvesting Wheat
Chapter 10 Bloodline
Roy never expected that the organization's so-called training ground was actually a cemetery.
That's right, it's the cemetery where the woman was buried a few days ago.
The location was both unexpected and yet perfectly logical.
We needed to find a quiet, open space for a gathering, and after thinking it over, this was the only place in Lanxi Town that fit the bill.
Moreover, Roy stepped on the ground, which was dry and stiff, making it difficult to leave footprints.
He followed Gerald up the gentle slope, where rows of low mounds stood in neat rows, most of them with only a faded, cracked wooden cross stuck in them, some without even a name engraved on them.
The wind swept through the withered grass, and a few crows perched on the bare branches, their mournful cries lonely and sorrowful.
At the top of the gentle slope, you can see the view on the other side without any obstruction.
The graves and wooden crosses were exactly the same, along with the withered trees and crows. The difference was that a large, dark crowd of about forty people was scattered in the distance, seemingly imbued with the colors of the cemetery, exuding a somber atmosphere.
At this moment, the group of people were practicing, following the movements of the leader who was standing on the high place.
"Ah, have you already started practicing swordsmanship?" Gerald quickly slid down the slope, but accidentally tripped and fell, rolling on the ground before scrambling to his feet.
Roy deliberately avoided the path he had slid down, and instead found a path that had been trodden out and seemed to have been trodden by many people, and carefully went down.
Gerald awkwardly shook the dust off his clothes and led Roy toward the crowd.
When Roy got closer, he realized that most of the boys were still holding wooden sticks, straight and thin, while only the leader and a few others had wooden swords for training, suggesting that they held a special status.
"Oh, Gerald, you've brought new companions again." The leader stopped what he was doing and made a welcoming gesture.
Roy counted that there were seven people present, including Gerald, who had wooden swords. The rest of them used wooden sticks that were about the same length as swords. Although they could practice swordsmanship, they would inevitably need a period of time to adapt if they were to switch to real swords as weapons in the future.
"Quick, introduce yourself to everyone." Gerald gave Roy a sharp elbow.
As the leader clapped in acknowledgment, the forty-odd teenagers on the field all turned around and looked at him warily.
They seemed quite unhappy about the newcomers joining, but for Roy, that was a normal reaction.
After all, they are competitors.
"Don't stare at our new guy like that, guys. Look, he's getting shy." The leader, though not very old, spoke with an air of maturity. Roy immediately lowered his head, fidgeting as if he were embarrassed.
"Um... um. My name is Roy." His voice was barely audible, only Gerald beside him could hear it.
"Hey, did he say anything?" a boy holding a wooden sword mocked.
"Gerald, you didn't bring a little girl with you, did you!"
A lively atmosphere erupted from the crowd, instantly dispelling much of the gloomy atmosphere of the cemetery.
"Hey, you didn't tell me you were afraid to talk in front of others." Gerald sighed and stepped forward, loudly speaking up for Roy:
"His name is Roy, and he's... my father's apprentice. Hmm, he wants to be a knight too!"
"Anyone who wants to become a knight can join our organization and become our partner!" The leader slid down the gentle slope with style and shook hands with Roy.
"Hello, my name is Delock, and I am the son of Joel the merchant."
Drok wore a tanned leather vest, looking like a little hunter, but judging from his posture as he taught swordsmanship, he was a very good swordsmanship instructor. Compared to the other children's tattered clothes, his clothes were quite fitting for his family background, whose father was a merchant.
He winked playfully and whispered in Roy's ear, "Olga recommended you to me. She said you also wanted to become a knight."
Roy was startled for a moment, then relaxed.
As a fervent fan of knights, it's not surprising that Olga joined the organization, but his recommendation of Roy was unexpected.
Delock continued, "Olga was confined to his quarters by his father a couple of days ago. Poor Olga, his mother left so early, and even his dream of becoming a knight has been taken away."
"That's a real shame..."
Roy glanced at the handsome young man and said, "Didn't the adults notice you were doing this?"
"No, of course that's impossible." Delock shrugged. "We've been found by the adults so many times already. But..."
"but?"
"But my master is the old mercenary Perland. Everyone knows his swordsmanship is top-notch, even in the Lanxi Town area... no, no, no," Delock replied proudly, "his swordsmanship is among the best in the Blackwater Territory!"
"So the adults all tacitly agreed to let us train here, because it's a good thing to learn Perland's skills, whether or not we become knights."
"Alright, alright." Before Roy could speak, Delock waved his hand. "I still have to teach the other guys. Gerald, since Roy was brought here by you, you can lead him through some basic exercises."
After saying that, he walked away.
"Alright, Delock, since you're the one who spoke up." Gerald reluctantly pulled Roy aside to a quiet, empty spot.
"Here you go." He handed over a wooden stick. "That guy was the strongest swordsman in our 'Kingdom Sword,' and also the one who taught us. He's ranked number one among the top ten masters in our organization."
Just now, Roy memorized Delock's attributes.
【Droc】
[Race: Human 92.8%, Lotl Lion 1.8%, Unknown Bloodline 5.4%]
[Attributes: Strength 3.4, Constitution 2.5, Spirit 0.6, Magic Power 0.1]
【技能:基础剑术Lv.1(98/100),经商Lv.1(54/100),狮吼Lv.1(33/100)】
……
This was the only person he had ever seen whose race, besides humans and unknown bloodlines, also included other bloodlines.
Roy didn't know how a human could be associated with such a bloodline.
But this guy's attributes are ridiculously high, he's not even in the same league as them. Even a muscular blacksmith like Old John was suppressed by him, no wonder he became the number one of the top ten masters.
This also gave him a deep sense of urgency.
"Could it be that the concentration of bloodline affects attributes, which is why his attributes are higher than other humans?" Roy suddenly remembered the bloodline that had been extracted from him. If he still possessed his bloodline now, what level would he be at?
He stared intently at the "Lion's Roar" skill in Delock's skill bar, as if trying to see through it. But there was always a mental barrier preventing him from understanding the skill's effect.
"Forget about that Droc guy," Gerald said from the side. "He'll almost certainly get one of the spots. He has exquisite swordsmanship and immense strength. But the remaining spot..."
"I, Gerald, the second of the top ten masters, will take him!"
Roy looked at the guy's exaggerated expression and was slightly speechless.
The difference between DeLock and Gerald is like that between a soldier using firearms and someone using a sword, but Gerald himself is unaware of it.
Then there's only one possibility: Delock is hiding his true strength.
Seeing him in a daze, Gerald mistakenly thought he was upset and comforted him:
"Roy, even with the two of us, you still have a chance. Three years from now, the lord will summon knight squire candidates again, and you'll only be 16 then, still old enough to answer the call."
"And you, having practiced swordsmanship for three years, will surely stand out in the next recruitment!"
