Chapter 20 Malena
Malena's face turned serious; this was no small matter.
Ian was hired by her and is an extremely talented potion-making genius; she can't afford to have anything happen to him.
"Before coming to the potions shop, I offended a senior apprentice, Nolan of the Shadow Order."
Malena had recently heard about Nolan and knew that he possessed the Flower of Tranquility, but she did not try to seize it like the others.
Firstly, her mental strength is not yet fully developed; secondly, she has access to such resources and can buy them by accumulating magic stones.
"The Shadow Society is indeed feared by ordinary apprentices, but you are our potion master, so you are different from them."
Malena looked confident and didn't seem to take the Shadow Society seriously.
"Nolan is a genius, and one of the founders of the Shadow Society..."
Fearing that Malena might underestimate her, Ian revealed all the information he had gathered.
"He also has a wizard mentor, which is a bit troublesome, but not a big problem."
Malena's calm tone relieved Ian.
It seems that the shop owner, Elivia, is extremely powerful, which is why Malena is somewhat indifferent to formal wizards.
"Through my vigilant eye, I discovered that there might be members of the Shadow Society outside."
Malena's expression changed instantly, and her beautiful face darkened.
"Hmph! How dare you, Harvey, to even spy on our potions shop."
Malena called out to the outside, and a middle-aged man quickly came in a moment later.
"Manager Malena, what are your orders?"
"Go, arrest the people monitoring outside and interrogate them thoroughly."
The moment Malena gave the order, she regained her authority as a manager.
"I'll go right away, manager, don't worry, none of them will escape."
Harvey's expression was somber. He bowed and left the room.
A few moments later, chaotic screams came from outside, but quickly subsided.
Ian thought of getting up to go out and take a look, but then sat back down.
"Marlena, are you sure Harvey can handle this alone? What if Nolan is lurking in the shadows? Harvey will be in big danger."
Malena had just changed out of her pajamas in the bedroom and was now sitting upright in a chair wearing a bright red robe.
"Don't worry, Harvey is incredibly powerful and is guarding this place under the orders of the wizard Elivia. If Nolan dares to show himself, wouldn't that be perfect?"
Nolan himself is being hunted by organizations such as the White Bear Order and dares not reveal his whereabouts casually, so he should still be hiding in the shadows.
A while later, Harvey returned to report, his clothes stained with blood.
"Reporting to Steward Marlena, three people have been captured. I just interrogated them, and they are indeed from the Shadow Society, responsible for monitoring Ian's movements."
Harvey glanced at Ian after he finished speaking, secretly amazed.
As soon as he entered the room, he smelled a faint scent of post-shower fragrance. How could Ian be in Malena's room at this time?
"What's wrong with you? You didn't even notice someone touching the doorway. Ian had to find out and tell me."
Malena was a little angry. Harvey was so careless. How could he live up to Lady Ellie's trust?
"It was my oversight. This person was far from the potions shop, and I didn't notice him for a moment."
Harvey's expression was also not good. He had been busy practicing witchcraft recently and hadn't paid attention. Who would have thought that someone would dare to spy on a formal wizard's potion shop?
"However, I just used some methods and obtained an important piece of information: Nolan may be in Nightfall Town."
He had just learned that Nolan was also a genius, which stirred his competitive spirit.
Even more surprisingly, the other party actually had the Flower of Tranquility in their hand.
Harvey is also a homebody; he's been practicing witchcraft lately and hasn't left the house at all, so he has no idea what's been happening in the tower.
Excitement appeared on his originally somber face.
He enjoyed the title of genius occasionally in his youth, but now that he is older, he has gradually faded from the public eye.
In the wizarding world, age is never a weakness; the older a wizard is, the more tricks they have up their sleeve.
"Bang!"
After listening to Harvey's report, Malena slammed her hand on the table and stood up.
"Daring to spy on the potion shop is an act of contempt for Lady Elivia. He must be taught a lesson."
Harvey quickly interjected, "I'll go find out more about them first, and then we'll make a decision when I get back."
Malena nodded in agreement, then added, "Be careful, Nolan's methods are not easy to deal with."
After Harvey left, Malena looked at Ian.
"I don't have the witchcraft tools you need on hand; it may take a few days."
Ian quickly stood up to thank him, "How much does it cost? If it's too expensive, I'll pay you back."
Malena's smile returned as she looked at Ian's embarrassed expression.
"There's no need to buy it; renting it once would be more cost-effective."
"It can be like this?" Ian was secretly grateful; Malena really had nothing but praise for him.
"I have another request to make. Could I borrow your witchcraft practice room for a period of time? I will pay for the maintenance."
Malena rolled her eyes and waved her hand dismissively.
"Why are you practicing witchcraft all day instead of focusing on alchemy?"
Seeing that the other party wouldn't budge, Ian had no choice but to leave.
"Hmph! You've caused such a huge mess. If it weren't for the fact that you're a potion-making genius, I would have kicked you out long ago."
She realized that Ian was buying witchcraft tools and practicing witchcraft diligently, which meant he was planning to deal with Nolan himself, and she found it amusing.
Malena leaned back in her chair, lost in thought.
Nolan is now a huge vortex, and who knows how many people will come to join him.
She knew very well how difficult it was to deal with advanced genius apprentices, and the danger level of Nolan, who could kill more than a dozen people of the same level and escape unscathed, was unimaginable.
She learned from Lady Elivia that there were a very few powerful prodigies who could even pose a threat to formal wizards.
……
On the outskirts of Nightfall, in an ordinary wooden house.
Nolan stood in the hall with a gloomy face. More than half a month had been wasted in this remote place.
What was supposed to be a matter that would be resolved in a few days has dragged on without success. Ian is like a tortoise, hiding in the shop and never going out.
He already knew the details of that potion shop; it was backed by a terrifying figure that even his mentor dared not provoke.
If it were any other shop, he would just go in and arrest the person, but that won't work here.
He didn't dare to directly target the potion shop, so he could only wait for an opportunity.
He is now in deep trouble, with many enemies hunting him down.
"Hmph! You really think you can stump me?"
He decided not to wait any longer and to take action directly. He would then escape the Shadowmoon Tower's territory, advance to the Wizard level, and return to take his revenge one by one.
Nolan quietly left the house and headed towards Nightfall Town, his figure gradually disappearing...
In the bedroom, Ian was sitting cross-legged, meditating to recover.
Now, besides completing the minimum amount of medicine each day, he devotes all his energy to cultivating the "Crystal Energy Barrier".
This greatly displeased Malena, but she knew that Ian had no interest in alchemy until Nolan's matter was resolved, so she had no choice but to let it go.
Ian was also somewhat anxious; with the crisis looming, he couldn't be without a shield spell.
It felt like barging naked into a pack of wild beasts; there was absolutely no sense of security.
He didn't expect Malena and Harvey to kill Nolan directly; that was unrealistic.
He was already quite satisfied that the Potions Shop had protected him for so long; it would be even better if they could just drive Nolan away this time.
But ultimately, it's up to Ian to solve it himself.
