Survival on the Internet: A Bizarre Start at Sea

Chapter 40: It's all taken care of, sir. Only… in my way…

Just then, several lines of semi-transparent text appeared before Su Zhixu's eyes:

[Hidden message: The discrepancy is too great to provide information. But, you really do seem to be her good younger brother~]

Su Zhisu was startled.

The network integration feature, which previously worked on Nautilus, has finally been applied to Cthulhu!

Although most of the information is blocked, the term "fourth-order" already explains a lot.

"You look great today, sister," he said casually.

Cthulhu tilted his head, his green pupils staring directly at Su Zhisu: "My dear brother, about last night... you'd better not have been involved."

Her tone was sweet, yet it carried a chilling undertone.

"Sister, what happened last night?" Su Zhixu replied calmly, "I was too tired from the preparations, so I slept very soundly last night."

"Is that so~"

Cthulhu chuckled. "That's good. But..."

She changed the subject, "I've changed my mind about Lilia."

Su Zhisu's heart tightened, but her expression remained calm: "Why do you say that, sister?"

"The Haiyue Festival ceremony requires most of my energy."

Cthulhu toyed with a strand of green hair. "I don't allow any... uncertainties to exist."

The air froze instantly.

Su Zhixu clearly felt the oppressive feeling—the "loli" in front of him was actually an existence capable of destroying the world.

Su Zhisu stared directly at the green-haired little girl in front of him: "Sister..."

Cthulhu's smile faded, and the indoor light dimmed.

The silence lasted for a full ten seconds.

Deep within Cthulhu's consciousness, fragments of his conversation with Nautilus from the previous night suddenly surfaced:

Deep within the trench, the severely wounded Deep Sea Titan's burning essence emanated a resolute will.

[If you dare touch Lilia or Su Zhisu, I would rather detonate the very foundation of Atlantis, ensuring your R'lyeh never comes to life!]

Don't think I, Oberon Seraphim, can't do it!

At the time, she wished she could just kill the Deep Sea Titan, but she had to admit that Atlantis still had a reason to exist.

Nautilus's threat did indeed work.

In addition, there was the aura of the Silver Key on Su Zhisu's body—although he didn't remember anything about his contact with Yog, the aura was definitely there.

We must not create unnecessary complications.

The coming of R'lyeh is the most important thing.

The green-haired little girl suddenly covered her mouth and chuckled.

"Hehehe~, what are you thinking about, my dear little brother~"

"I won't do anything to your girlfriend, okay? Look how anxious you are!"

"At least during the Sea Moon Festival, I won't lay a hand on her. After all, she's a child of Atlantis too."

"I have no reason to lie to you."

"Not during the Haiyue Festival," Su Zhisu stepped forward, "it's forever."

A flash of anger crossed Cthulhu's eyes, but he quickly regained his innocent look: "My little brother cares so much about her, could it be that he's fallen for that girl?"

"Sister, this is my bottom line." Su Zhisu remained silent.

"Okay~" Cthulhu clapped her hands, "Sister promises you. But..."

She leaned closer to Su Zhisu, her voice as soft as a whisper, "If she gets herself into danger, then she can't blame her sister."

"Of course." Su Zhisu nodded slightly.

"It's settled then, my dear little brother."

Cthulhu skipped over to the door. "Let's go, it's almost time. Time to prepare for the ceremony!"

As he stepped out of the room, Hydra was still waiting outside.

She bowed to Cthulhu, her gaze briefly meeting Su Zhixu's, her expression complex.

Just as the group stepped out of Star Dream Academy and into the front courtyard, another group of people walked over from the other end of the street.

The one leading them was Elias.

The head of the Hydeland delegation remained as refined as ever, bowing and saying, "Lord Cthulhu, Your Excellency Su Zhisu, may you enjoy the Sea Moon Festival."

But Su Zhisu noticed a barely perceptible green glint in Elias's eyes.

The members of the delegation behind him had vacant eyes and stiff movements, clearly indicating that they had been completely controlled.

"You've come at the perfect time," Cthulhu chuckled. "Let's go, let's head to the Tide Altar together."

Elias smiled and replied, "It is our honor to travel with you, sir."

Walking in the group, Su Zhisu observed silently.

How much of Cthulhu's promise can we believe?

What role will Elias, the puppet, play in the ritual?

Is Lilia safe?

The amber crystal in his arms began to heat up, its resonance with the distant tidal altar growing stronger.

The group walked through the throngs of revelers.

The fluorescent jellyfish on both sides of the street formed a flowing river of light, and the glowing coral moon patterns pulsated on every building.

But all the residents had the same expression—the corners of their mouths were stretched into exaggerated arcs, their eyes were filled with greenery, their hands were raised high towards the temple, and they were chanting in unison, meaningless chants.

The closer you get to the temple, the thicker the green mist in the air becomes.

Cthulhu walked at the very front, and with each breath she took, wisps of mist seeped into her petite body.

Her complexion rosy at a visible speed, and the luster in her green hair became even more vibrant, as if the entire city's revelry was providing her with nourishment.

"Look, my dear little brother!"

Cthulhu suddenly turned around, his smile unsettlingly bright.

"How happy they are. Atlantis hasn't been this lively in a long time."

Su Zhisu silently watched the "happy" residents on the street.

A half-fish child accidentally fell, his knee hitting the coral ground and blue blood seeping out, but he still got up and continued dancing with that standard smile.

Its mother clapped mechanically, her eyes devoid of any emotion.

Lilia gripped Su Zhisu's arm tightly.

Finally, we arrived at the bottom of the temple.

The Sea Moon Altar was exactly the same as the one Su Zhisu had seen before—an inverted funnel-shaped ring structure, with water flowing around the cave walls, and a bottomless moon well in the center, with dark red seawater and a distorted reflection of the moon faintly visible above the well's opening.

The obsidian disc floated in the center of the vortex, and the runes on its surface were slowly glowing with an eerie green light.

The area around the altar was densely packed with controlled residents.

They fell silent, all the empty green eyes focusing on the center of the altar.

Cthulhu stepped onto the stone bridge leading to the disc, his green hair moving without wind.

She turned around and opened her arms: "The time is almost here, my dear brother~, get ready!"

Before he could finish speaking, something unexpected happened.

The entire city of Atlantis trembled violently!

It wasn't an earthquake, but some deeper, more terrifying shaking—the entire Atlantis was like a ship tossed about in a storm.

The smiles on the residents' faces began to crack.

Deep within the Moon Well, in the dark red seawater, something is rising to the surface.

It's not R'lyeh.

It was an even more turbid and frenzied undercurrent, carrying indescribable roars, crashing against the base of the altar.

Cthulhu's smile froze on his face.

"This is... a strange and eerie power?!"

She abruptly turned to Elias: "Didn't you have contact with Dagon? Didn't you say it was all taken care of?!"

Elias's gentle demeanor vanished, replaced by an eerie calm: "It's all taken care of, sir. But..."

He raised his hand, and a ceremonial dagger inlaid with emeralds slid out from his sleeve.

"...in my way."

A flash of light, and the blade pierced Cthulhu's back.
