Jin Yuanyuan's Top-Tier Life

Chapter 15 The old lady was actually scammed.

At eight o'clock on Sunday morning, Jin Yuanyuan felt completely out of place standing outside the Hangzhou Exhibition Hall. All the people around her were dressed as anime characters, in various shapes and sizes, a dazzling array. Her thin down jacket made her look not just ordinary, but outdated.

Cao Xiaoyu, dressed in a black suit, looked quite sharp. But the two of them stood out strangely among the diverse group of people dressed as anime characters. At least, the young people dressed as anime characters all grimaced and said, "Auntie, excuse me."

Jin Yuanyuan already had a bad feeling and asked Cao Xiaoyu, "Isn't this supposed to be a cosplay and anime convention? Why are there knitwear items on display?"

"I don't know that. I only know that General Manager Zhu signed a trade show contract last month and paid a deposit. I'm proceeding according to the schedule." Cao Xiaoyu, who was also carrying a box of socks, said, "It's probably an area where we can have a display."

"That's not necessarily true."

A prophecy.

Jin Yuanyuan and Cao Xiaoyu squeezed through the huge crowd into the venue and were completely speechless when they found their booth. Not only was their booth next to the restrooms, but it was also incredibly small. To make matters worse, the backdrop featured an unknown cartoon character, and it was only half-finished.

A foreman from a production company was already standing in front of the booth. Upon seeing them, he asked, "Jin Yaya? I've been waiting for you. Half of the production fee hasn't been settled yet. Could you settle it now? Once it's settled, we'll finish making the display panels right away, very quickly."

Jin Yuanyuan was completely bewildered; something was clearly wrong.

She called Zhu Hongying and asked her what happened. Zhu Hongying thought for a moment before saying, "Oh, oh, that kid came over to sell things, and I agreed because I felt sorry for him."

A month earlier, a young woman had been loitering around the entrance of the Economic and Technological Development Zone. Zhu Hongying, seeing her wandering around all day, couldn't help but ask if she was looking for someone or discussing business. The young woman said she was a saleswoman for an exhibition and hoped to find some companies to participate in. The exhibition was international, and many clothing brands would be participating.

Zhu Hongying became interested upon hearing this, as one of her sales tactics was to participate in trade shows to expand her influence. So, she let the young girl join the company and had her sign a trade show participation contract. The young girl was extremely grateful and almost knelt down to thank her.

100,000 for the booth fee, 100,000 for the setup fee.

Zhu Hongying figured the fees were about the same for each event, so she just paid. She didn't expect that when Jin Yuanyuan arrived, she would find that it was just an anime convention, and a rather amateurish one at that.

What angered Jin Yuanyuan the most was that the booth wasn't even connected to electricity. The engineer said, "There are safety requirements on site. You need to pay a deposit of 30,000 yuan, in cash."

"Isn't this blatant robbery?" Cao Xiaoyu shouted. But before he could finish speaking, a group of people appeared out of nowhere and stood silently by the booth, which was quite intimidating.

Jin Yuanyuan had seen similar situations before when organizing brand events. In these situations, you have to pay first, otherwise there will be serious problems. She pulled Cao Xiaoyu behind her and asked directly, "Where's the ATM?"

I transferred 30,000 yuan in cash from my credit card and handed it to them. The backdrop was immediately erected, and the electricity was connected. Although selling socks at an anime convention seemed out of place, at least it wasn't too embarrassing.

"Yuanyuan!" Cao Xiaoyu wanted to argue a bit more, but Jin Yuanyuan said directly, "It's come to this, let's leave it at that. I'm going to the organizing committee to seek justice."

Was she afraid? Not at all.

After circling around several times, they finally found the organizing committee's temporary office. When they went in, Jin Yuanyuan was stunned, and of course, Liu Daisy, who was sitting inside, was also stunned.

These two people were in a superior-subordinate relationship just a month ago, and now they're just staring at each other.

"Is something the matter?" The staff member next to him stood up and asked.

"Yes, I'm here to find the leaders of the organizing committee to be the operator of this event." Jin Yuanyuan instantly returned to normal.

"We're the operators, what do you want?" Liu Daisy asked with a serious expression.

"Fine, I'm going to file a complaint against you for fraud." Jin Yuanyuan was not polite at all. "You tricked us into participating in this event, but it has nothing to do with knitwear at all."

"Who signed that contract? Didn't you see it? You can't just make baseless accusations like that. This is a large-scale exhibition, a paradise for young people. Did you see it? It's clearly written at the entrance: Cosplay Costume Exhibition. How come it has nothing to do with knitwear?" Liu Daisy suddenly straightened up and walked up to Jin Yuanyuan. "Since you signed it, you have to accept it."

"You are deceiving me."

"How am I lying? Didn't you sign it too?"

"What's going on with the electricity at that booth? Why do we have to pay extra? I asked around, and several other vendors around here have all paid. Why? Doesn't the contract state that the company is responsible for providing logistical power support?"

"Yes, we took responsibility. However, your area is near the restrooms, so there's a risk of water leaks and electrical accidents. Special arrangements and construction were necessary, and the fees are very reasonable. You can see it on the back of the contract." Liu Daisy suddenly laughed. "Sister Yuanyuan, I didn't recognize you dressed like that until you got closer. How come you can't even understand a contract after only a month? You have a booth here? What are you selling? This is a young person's world; you're not suited for this."

"You don't need to worry about this." Jin Yuanyuan was speechless, taken aback by her tone. "Did Zhixiang take on this event? Why would they take on such a low-level event? How much money can they make? This is ruining their reputation in the PR industry!"

"Jin Yuanyuan, you're not the director of Zhixiang anymore, so you have no right to say that." Liu Daisy flashed her work badge. "Open your eyes and look closely, I'm the director now."

This time, Jin Yuanyuan's eyes widened in astonishment. The world is truly unpredictable; she had only been gone a month, and Liu Daisy, a nobody, had risen to the position of director.

"Fine, I'm not talking to you. You're such a nobody, I'm not worth wasting my time on." Jin Yuanyuan looked at Liu Daisy's face and suddenly laughed. "Liu Daisy, do a good job."

"What do you mean?" Liu Daisy asked again, looking at Jin Yuanyuan who had already left. But Jin Yuanyuan wouldn't pay her any attention. There were plenty of ways to deal with this kind of person.

However, she was genuinely angry, especially after Daisy Liu said, "Sister Yuanyuan, I didn't even recognize you dressed like this."

"Cao Xiaoyu, isn't this down jacket of mine pretty? It cost over a thousand yuan, isn't it?"

"It's alright." Cao Xiaoyu didn't know what had happened to Jin Yuanyuan, so he could only answer cautiously.

Jin Yuanyuan thought for a moment, then left Cao Xiaoyu at the booth to watch over him while she wandered around. However, the more she wandered, the angrier she became. Almost all the exhibitors were young people under twenty, and her age was indeed inappropriate. After being called "Auntie" several times, she almost wanted to swear.

I didn't sell anything all day and I was furious.

Jin Yuanyuan ignored Cao Xiaoyu, who was tidying up, and took a taxi to Wanghu Pavilion, the most expensive restaurant in Hangzhou. She felt uncomfortable because of the disparity in their status and the change in her identity. The word "Director" on Liu Daisy's work ID had indeed stung her.

She needs a good meal now, and to seriously reflect on what she's doing. She's always being led along against her will, but she can't live like this. After that 30 million yuan bet is finalized, she still wants to go back to Shanghai, to be a glamorous and sophisticated public relations director in the big city, maybe even to open a high-end PR firm catering to luxury clients. She wants to eat Iberian ham and drink Lafite and soda every day, not her current stale wontons and pork intestine noodles!

The restaurant at Wanghu Pavilion suited her taste perfectly, and they didn't treat her with any disrespect because she was wearing a light pink down jacket. The staff spoke softly and smiled warmly, which made her feel much more comfortable. Three dishes and a bottle of red wine were within her budget.

However, the world is full of "buts".

When it was time to pay, she had no money in her card.

Now that I think about it, I just withdrew 30,000 yuan in cash, exceeding my daily credit limit. The other two cards were in another bag and I didn't bring them with me. I'm really confused by what happened today.

Who should she call to settle the bill? Jin Yuanyuan was sweating a little. If Cao Xiaoyu found out she had spent over three thousand yuan, he would definitely tell her family. If she called her father, Jin Yuanbao, he would surely give her a long lecture. Calling Zhu Hongying for help was absolutely out of the question. So, who should she call?

"Madam, please settle the bill, we're about to close up shop." The waiter remained extremely polite, smiling and courteous, but there was already a hint of doubt in his eyes.

"Wait a moment." Jin Yuanyuan was scrolling through her phone contacts, thinking about who to borrow the three thousand yuan from and what a reasonable excuse to use.

"Yuanyuan?" A familiar voice, a familiar figure—it was a classic hero-saves-the-world scene. Zhao Zhuoran, dressed in a black suit, appeared before her. "What are you doing here eating? And you ordered such expensive wine? Are you crazy?"

"Huh?" They questioned him as soon as he appeared; this doesn't seem right.

He told the waiter to go and settle the bills for the other tables first, then stood in front of her with a beaming smile, "You're eating alone without inviting me?"

"Weren't you at Wangjiang Pavilion in Shanghai? What are you doing here?" Jin Yuanyuan's mind was a bit muddled today, and she had drunk quite a bit of alcohol.

"Hangzhou Wanghu Pavilion is also one of our brands. I've been working as the store manager here for the past few days. Company policy dictates that all service staff must take turns working in different locations."

"Oh, could you pay my bill first?" Since things had come to this, Jin Yuanyuan didn't stand on ceremony and said with a blush, "I don't have enough credit on my card. I'll definitely pay you back tomorrow. No, I'll definitely pay you back after midnight tonight."
