Wizard: I have ten trillion nanomachines
Chapter 45 The First Wizard
"Sir, there's no need to be discouraged." Seeing that Lo Kunlun's expression was calm, Samuel quickly stepped forward to comfort him. "After all, this pattern isn't 100% accurate, so it can't be taken entirely seriously."
Despite this, all three understood the truth.
Wizarding talent is an extremely rare commodity, one in ten thousand, often appearing only once in thousands.
Now that the parchment scroll has no effect, the possibility that Luo Kunlun possesses talent is extremely slim.
King Atreus breathed a sigh of relief. If Lokunlun also possessed wizarding talent, then this world would be far too unfair.
It wasn't that King Atlas III was narrow-minded; it was just human nature.
Luo Kunlun, however, was unconcerned about this; he was more concerned with another long-standing problem.
After pondering for a moment, Luo Kunlun turned his gaze to Samuel: "Scholar Samuel, do you know how the first wizards came to be?"
Everything has its origin. Just as biological evolution began with single-celled organisms, the extraordinary system of wizards must also have its beginnings.
This is the core question that Luo Kunlun has been curious about ever since he came into contact with wizarding knowledge.
Wizards, were they born this way?
Upon hearing this, Samuel fell into deep thought, his fingertips unconsciously tracing the tabletop. After a long while, he slowly spoke: "If we're talking about the origin of wizards on our continent of Volo, or even the entire world, the legend says that the earliest wizards were not born here, but came from beyond the world."
"There's another world beyond this world?" King Atreus exclaimed in disbelief.
In his mind, the continent of Volo was the entire world, while the Wizarding Continent overseas was a hazy illusion.
These words were like a violent earthquake to his worldview, which he found hard to accept at first.
But Luo Kunlun remained calm, though he already had some guesses in his mind.
After arriving in this world, he used nanomachines to detect the environment and discovered that the landform and celestial movement patterns of this continent were completely different from the planets he originally knew. It was more like a flat landmass than a spherical celestial body.
It's not a planet, more like a fantasy concept like a plane, but since he's already traveled through time, what's so hard about this?
The existence of a world beyond this one was not unimaginable to him.
"That's right." Samuel nodded, his tone carrying a hint of awe for the legend. "The earliest wizards were said to be followers of a 'Great One'."
"They can traverse the void and explore endless worlds, while our world is merely a resting place for them when they happen to stop, a temporary stronghold."
"I was quite startled when I first heard this story," Samuel said with a wry smile. "To be able to traverse the void and travel between worlds is almost indistinguishable from being a god."
Luo Kunlun pressed further, "Then how were the earlier wizards born? Were they born wizards?"
Samuel looked troubled and shook his head: "If we're talking about going back that far, I'm sorry, sir, I know very little about it either. The history of wizards is too ancient; it has long been lost in the river of time."
However, he quickly changed the subject, a hint of excitement flashing in his eyes: "However, regarding the origins of the earliest wizards, I discovered some remnants of murals in the ancient tomb where I obtained this parchment. I've already compiled the parts that I could decipher, but the rest are too difficult to identify due to the passage of time, the weathering of the pigments, and the peeling of the stone walls."
"The murals record that the earliest shamans can be traced back to an ancient profession called 'shaman,' as well as a special item called 'wisdom potion.'"
Samuel slowed his speech, enunciating each word clearly, "Legend has it that a shaman created that potion, then shattered the shackles of mortals, awakened the extraordinary power hidden within, and gave birth to the first prototype of the wizard."
Shaman? Potion of Wisdom? Lokunlun memorized these two keywords, and the nanomachines immediately categorized and archived them.
This item might be a key clue.
In the following period, Lo Kunlun and Samuel had in-depth exchanges.
Lokunlun had a very good impression of Samuel. Although he came from a noble family, he was neither arrogant nor conceited.
Besides developing medicines, his greatest passion is studying history and exploring ancient ruins; he has a pure love for knowledge.
Just as the wizard emphasized, or superficially emphasized, an equivalent exchange, the two naturally exchanged their respective achievements.
Lo Kunlun presented all the results of the nanomachines' analysis of royal and noble manuscripts. Samuel was completely captivated by the deciphered fragments of runes and incomplete witchcraft theories.
Samuel shared his research on his great-uncle's manuscript fragments, his notes on deciphering ancient tomb murals, and the anecdotes about wizards he had collected over the years.
During the conversation, Luo Kunlun had long since stopped worrying about whether he had the talent to be a wizard.
If one cannot become a wizard, one can always find another path, or seek out the legendary potion of wisdom, which may not preclude one from embarking on a path of extraordinary attainment.
There is more than one path to transcendence. Within the wizarding system alone, there are many branches such as elemental wizards, combat wizards, and bloodline wizards, all of which are essentially different ways of using power.
Ultimately, what truly matters is not the identity of a "wizard," but all the knowledge accumulated behind the system.
With enough knowledge, one can forge their own extraordinary path even without following the wizarding route.
King Art III listened quietly, finding the content of their conversation to be incredibly profound, far beyond his comprehension.
"Thank you for your frankness, Scholar Samuel." Luo Kunlun stood up, his tone filled with sincere gratitude. "This information has been of great help to me. If anything comes up in the future, I can promise that as long as it is within my capabilities and does not violate my principles, I will do my best to help."
Samuel nodded quickly. "It is my honor to discuss these secrets with you, sir. I will organize all the information on the tomb murals as soon as possible and inform you as soon as I have any news."
Lo Kunlun nodded, then turned to King Ate III and gestured, "Alright, I'll head back to my villa now. If there's nothing else, don't bother me."
"Rest assured, sir," King Art III replied hastily, personally escorting Lokunlun to the entrance of the council chamber.
Then he turned to Samuel and said, "Samuel, my brother, you've really done me a great favor!"
"It is my duty, Your Majesty," Samuel replied humbly.
No matter where Lokunlun was, Att III always harbored a deep fear of him.
This fear stems from the fact that the other party can kill you at any time, as easily as crushing an ant.
As a high-ranking knight, he felt that one should not attempt to challenge the other party, as that would be no different from suicide.
Fortunately, Samuel has established a good relationship with the other party today, which provides some assurance.
