Wizard: I have ten trillion nanomachines
Chapter 41 Scanned Manuscript
King Art III dared not delay for a moment. He rose and gestured to Lokunlun, then personally led the way through the winding corridors of the palace toward the royal library on the west side.
The guards along the way looked puzzled when they saw the king leading the way personally, followed by a strange man dressed in black with an imposing presence.
It should be noted that King Att III, as a king, was always the one being greeted and served by others; he had never personally led the way for others like this before.
But with His Majesty's solemn expression, it was clear that he was doing something important. Even though the guards were full of curiosity, none of them dared to step forward and ask a single question. They simply lowered their heads and stood respectfully by his side, watching the two of them leave.
Before long, a simple stone building came into view; it was the Royal Library.
The building is constructed entirely of dark blue-green boulders, with no superfluous decorations except for simple patterns carved on the walls, exuding a sense of weight and solemnity accumulated over the years.
Two tall guards stood at the entrance of the library, dressed in heavy plate armor and carrying heavy shields as tall as a person, with the royal emblem of the Bauhinia Kingdom engraved on the shields.
Upon seeing King Atlas III arrive, the two guards immediately knelt on one knee in salute.
"Open the door," King Art III commanded succinctly, his tone carrying an unquestionable authority.
Without the slightest hesitation, the guard quickly took out a specially made key from his waist, with seven or eight keys of different shapes hanging on the key chain.
They carefully selected two of them, inserted them into the keyholes on either side of the library's heavy iron door, and turned them simultaneously.
With two crisp "click, click" sounds, the iron gate slowly opened inward, and a rich aroma of ink and old paper wafted out, mixed with a faint woody scent, instantly filling the nostrils.
Luo Kunlun looked up and saw that the library was exceptionally spacious, with rows of tall bookshelves neatly arranged under the towering dome.
These bookshelves, made of hard ebony, stretch from the ground to the ceiling, reaching a height of seven or eight meters. They are densely packed with all kinds of books and scrolls, including thick books bound into volumes and ancient scrolls rolled up. A rough estimate puts at least tens of thousands of volumes in the collection.
Sunlight streamed through the small window high up, casting long shadows between the bookshelves. Dust motes danced in the beams of light, creating a tranquil and solemn atmosphere.
"Mr. Luo, those manuscripts that are suspected to be related to wizards are all stored in the innermost secret room, which is the most secure place."
As he spoke, King Atreus led Lokunlun through rows of bookshelves toward the depths of the library.
The bookshelves along the way were filled with all kinds of books, including historical records of the kingdom, military treatises on strategy and tactics, and practical books on agriculture and crafts. The variety was extensive and the selection was dazzling.
After walking for about a quarter of an hour, the two arrived at the deepest part of the library.
King Atlas III placed his hand on a seemingly ordinary stone wall and gently pushed it open, revealing a hidden wooden door. He opened the door and gestured to the side, "Please."
Luo Kunlun stepped inside and found that the secret room was not large, only about ten square meters. There were no windows in the room, and only a few luminous pearls embedded in the walls provided a faint light. There was a faint musty smell in the air.
The secret room contained only three small bookshelves, neatly arranged with dozens of yellowed manuscripts and tattered books. Many pages were moldy, incomplete, with curled edges, and the writing in some places was even blurred, clearly due to their age.
Luo Kunlun strode forward, his gaze sweeping quickly across the bookshelf, and casually picked up a manuscript with unfamiliar symbols engraved on its cover.
The manuscript's paper was rough and thick, and cold to the touch; the symbols on it bore some resemblance to the text in the black book.
Almost the instant he picked up the manuscript, the nanomachines within his body activated, acting like a sophisticated scanner, rapidly recording every word and every image on the manuscript while simultaneously comparing and analyzing it with the information in the black book.
"Anything else?" Lokunlun asked King Atreus III while looking at the manuscript. "Besides the royal family, do other nobles possess anything related to wizards, such as manuscripts or relics?"
King Atreus III quickly replied, "Yes. Several dukes within the kingdom possess the strength of high-ranking knights. Their families have a long history, with many records of their ancestors being related to wizards. They should possess quite a few related artifacts."
"Some earl and marquis families with a history of hundreds of years may also have some manuscripts or relics related to wizards, but most of them are kept as family heirlooms and kept secret."
Just then, a notification sound from the nanomachines echoed in Luo Kunlun's mind: "Some text has been detected that matches the Black Book. The initial resolution rate is 12%. More samples are needed to improve the database and increase the resolution accuracy."
Although a resolution of 12% is not high, it at least provided a breakthrough, which gave Luo Kunlun a slight thought.
He carefully put away the manuscript in his hand, and then selected a few books from the bookshelf with relatively clear handwriting and good preservation, putting them into his bosom. He already had a plan for the next step in mind.
He turned to King Atlas III, his tone leaving no room for argument: "In that case, you shall inform those nobles to make copies of all the manuscripts and books related to wizards that they possess and send them to the palace. There must be no mistakes. Any disobedience or concealment will be met with severe consequences."
"In addition, arrange a quiet residence for me near the palace, in a secluded environment where I will not be disturbed," Luo Kunlun added.
King Atlas III dared not refuse in the slightest and quickly nodded in agreement, "Very well! I will arrange for someone to take care of it immediately and make sure that you are satisfied, sir."
Afterwards, King Art III gave a few more instructions on how to use the library, then turned and left the secret room, leaving the space to Lokunlun.
Luo Kunlun stayed in the secret room, studying the manuscripts. The nanomachines in his body instantly went into overdrive, scanning and recording all the books in the room. He wanted to absorb all the knowledge here.
Meanwhile, outside the library, King Art III's face darkened as soon as he stepped out of the gate, and he strode quickly toward the royal council chamber.
This matter is of great importance and must be handled properly as soon as possible.
Upon arriving at the council chamber, he immediately summoned Sisyphus, the captain of the royal guard, and several trusted ministers.
Before long, several ministers and the captain of the guard rushed over. Seeing the king's solemn expression, they all felt a pang of anxiety, wondering what had happened.
Without wasting words, King Atreus recounted in detail the events of Lokunlun's intrusion into the palace, the killing of Graxis, and the demand for nobles to make copies of the wizard's manuscript. He also emphasized the existence of the dwarf's head.
As soon as he finished speaking, the council chamber erupted in uproar.
"Your Majesty, this... how is this possible? The wizard was so terrifying, how could he actually be killed?" An elderly minister with white hair said in disbelief.
Another minister frowned and said worriedly, "Your Majesty, it would be too difficult to directly order those nobles to hand over the manuscripts related to sorcery."
"Those nobles have always valued their family heritage, let alone things that might involve family secrets. They may not obey easily."
Luo Kunlun's request seemed simple, but how could those arrogant and domineering nobles possibly hand over their family's secrets just because of a single sentence?
King Atlas III sneered, a hint of certainty flashing in his eyes: "Don't worry, as long as they see the wizard's head, they'll know what to do."
"Those guys were so terrified of the wizard before that they couldn't eat or sleep. Now that they're facing a man who can easily kill a wizard, do they really dare to disobey?"
Upon hearing this, all the ministers nodded in agreement.
It's a very simple principle: although those noble families have great power, they can only bow down in the face of absolute power.
Manuscripts are indeed important, but can they be more precious than life itself?
"By the way, Sisyphus," King Art III said in a deep voice, turning his gaze to the captain of the palace guard, "you must immediately send someone to find Grand Secretary Samuel."
"Wherever he is, bring him back to the palace as soon as possible, saying that there is important business to discuss and that there should be no delay."
"Also, send people to check out the Ashenvale area," King Att III added. "I remember many nobles were killed in that area, and it must be in chaos now. Take people to clean up the mess, comfort the refugees, find out the casualties, and make arrangements for the territory."
Sisyphus immediately knelt on one knee and loudly accepted the order: "Yes, Your Majesty! I will make the arrangements immediately!"
After saying that, he turned and walked away quickly to gather his men to carry out his orders.
