For the first time, the surviving trolls showed a different kind of expression in their eyes than numbness—a deep, primal sorrow.

They may be ignorant, but they are not without feelings. The death of their companion instinctively filled them with grief.

"Second rank, retreat! Retreat into the city wall defenses!" Solo finally gave the order to retreat.

The remaining trolls, relieved, dragged their wounded companions back to the moat beneath the city walls. The rock creatures pursued them relentlessly.

"Knights, prepare!" Solo's voice rang out.

Forty-seven knights stood in two rows on the city wall, their weapons pointed at the edge of the wall.

The runes on their armor began to glow, and their breathing became steady and deep—signs of activating the life seed and entering battle mode.

The first rock creature climbed the city wall.

It was a small stone monster resembling an ape. It gripped the bricks with its sharp claws and nimbly climbed upwards, reaching the top of the wall in the blink of an eye.

"Aaaaaah!" The knight in the front row roared, his warhammer crashing down with a whooshing sound.

"Bang!"

The stone monster's head exploded like a watermelon, and its headless body fell onto the city wall.

But more rock creatures climbed up. Medium-sized individuals began ramming their bodies against the main body of the wall, each impact causing the wall to tremble and dust and broken bricks to fall.

"Maintain formation! Don't scatter!" Knights vice-captain Gareth commanded steadily.

The knights fought in groups of three, back to back.

One person attacks, one person covers, and one person fills in at any time.

This was a simple tactic taught by Solo, yet it was extremely effective.

A medium-sized rock creature stretched its upper body onto the city wall, its mouth open as it was about to bite a knight.

Another knight's battle axe cleaved precisely into its eye gap, the "armor-piercing" rune on the sword erupting, sword energy flowing into its skull through the gap.

The rock creature trembled violently, then collapsed.

But the pressure is increasing.

More and more rock creatures climbed the city walls, and the defenses began to groan under the strain.

The knights slashed and hacked, but the gaps continued to widen—a young knight's leg was bitten through by the stone monster's sharp teeth, his armor twisted and deformed, and he groaned as he lost his balance.

Elsewhere, three medium-sized stone monsters leaped onto the crenellations at the same time, and the heavy impact caused the defensive formation of that section of the city wall to break up instantly.

Solo's pupils contracted sharply.

If this were ten days ago, this moment would have been the beginning of the collapse—the knights would have been losing men, the defenses would have been torn apart, and then the avalanche would have begun.

"Left flank, third embankment, reserves, move up!" The moment Solo's command rang out through the megaphone, he vanished from his spot.

Pure life seed energy erupted from his leg muscles—the ferocious power upon which knights depended for survival surged within him, propelling him across the city wall at near-flash speed.

Just as the young knight's leg armor was being pierced by the stone monster's sharp teeth, making a grating metallic sound, and he was about to lose his balance and be dragged off the city wall, Solo's hand pressed down on his shoulder armor.

At the point where his palm touched the armor, a barely perceptible glimmer of dark golden life energy appeared—a characteristic that all knights exhibit after activating their life seed, unremarkable in itself.

But the force that Solo exhaled from his palm was terrifyingly subtle.

The power wasn't released arbitrarily, but rather like fine mercury, precisely transmitted through the gaps in the shoulder armor and along the muscle texture, instantly vibrating the young knight's entire torso.

"loose!"

The knight, whose blood was churning from the shock, instinctively loosened his grip on his weapon, while the subtle force simultaneously acted on the stone monster's jaws—not a direct impact, but a high-frequency, extremely subtle vibration.

A fleeting, almost imperceptible gap appeared between the stone monster's hard jaws and the knight's leg armor.

The instant the gap appeared, Solo's right hand moved.

A short knife drew a sharp arc, its tip piercing with unparalleled precision into the narrow, natural gap between the stone monster's eye socket and skull.

The knights could all see that this was a standard, straightforward attack that exploited a weakness.

But in the next instant, something unexpected happened.

After the short sword pierced half a foot, the muscles in Solo's right arm holding the sword suddenly bulged. The energy of the life seed did not release outward to form a flame, but a powerful force surged violently into the stone monster's skull along the blade.

That wasn't the cutting of blade energy, but rather the explosive force of concentrated power within a confined space.

A muffled thud, like a leather bag filled with pebbles bursting from the inside.

No exaggerated cracks appeared on the surface of the stone monster's hard skull, but a large amount of fine stone powder and crystal fragments suddenly spewed out from the holes of its eyes, which were burning with earthy yellow soul fire.

Its movements froze completely, and then its entire body began to disintegrate from the inside, turning into a pile of loose and powerless rubble.

Two knights were being forced to retreat by a medium-sized stone monster with seven heads wielding heavy stone arms.

The warhammer and stone claws collided, sparking a series of flashes. The knights' heavy breathing and the faint mist of sweat from their intense life energy circulation were clearly visible.

Solo did not launch a frontal assault.

He crouched low and swiftly moved forward, taking the warhammer that originally belonged to the knight, spinning it half a turn in his palm, and then gripping it in reverse.

The energy of the life seed erupted again in his legs, allowing him to rush forward at an angle, stepping on the crenellations of the city wall, and instantly circle around to the side of the group of stone monsters.

"Joints!" he hissed, both to remind the knight and to provide the most reasonable explanation for the method he was about to use.

Their figures flashed by so fast they almost formed a continuous blur.

The three consecutive hammer blows struck a slightly dark area on the outside of the three-headed stone monster's hind leg knee joint—a relatively fragile crystal energy gathering node that he had discovered during his dissection.

Each hammer blow is accompanied by an extremely brief but concentrated burst of force at the moment of contact.

The force, passing through the warhammer, was like the sharpest chisel, precisely penetrating the nodule, and then—it shook.

"Snap!" "Snap!" "Snap!"

It wasn't the crisp sound of bones breaking, but rather the sound of a dense crystalline structure being forcibly torn apart and displaced by internal forces.

The three-headed stone monster's massive body tilted simultaneously, its attack suddenly distorted, and it completely lost its center of gravity.
