Dragon Raja: Lu Mingfei's War Journey

Chapter 46 Nono's Words of Power

【Words of Power: Blazing】

[Special Skill: Use physical strength to generate flames]

[Note: A young man once set himself on fire in the freezing cold to bring you warmth and hope.]

A few lines of pale gold information appeared in her mind.

Nono stared blankly at the flame. The flame did not burn her; instead, it warmed her body and began to spread around her as if forming a protective shield. All the raindrops that fell on it evaporated instantly, and even her clothes became dry.

She seemed to see Lu Mingfei carrying her through the blizzard in the flames. She was huddled in her sleeping bag, but snow was falling all over Lu Mingfei.

She reached out to grab Lu Mingfei in the fire, but the flames suddenly went out, and she missed again. She also found that she could no longer release those flames.

However, she quickly realized that it was the Night Watchers' discipline and the alchemical matrix beneath the school that were at work. Within the Kassel College area, if one's bloodline did not reach S-rank, it was impossible to release a Word of Power. Even if one's bloodline reached S-rank, the power of the Word of Power released would be affected.

Although the flames only lasted for a short while, the warmth restored her stiff body to basic mobility.

She didn't dare to delay, and with all her might, she rushed to her red BMW, opened the door and got in. She quickly closed the convertible top to keep out the cold rain, and immediately turned the car's air conditioning to its maximum heating function.

Warm air blew out from the air conditioning vents, gradually dispelling the chill inside the car and the icy feeling in Nono's bones.

She leaned back in the leather seat, hugging herself tightly, as if she could still feel the warmth emanating from the boy.

"Lu Mingfei..." she murmured the name, a name she could never forget.

That was definitely not a dream.

The frigid Andes Mountains, the despair and bloodshed inside the cabin, Lu Mingfei's heavy breathing as he carried her up the cliff, and the resolute look in his eyes when he chose to take her with him without hesitation... every detail was imprinted in her memory.

She opened her palm, trying to summon the warm flame again, but her palm was empty. However, a slight warmth rising within her body proved that the Word of Power, Blaze, had awakened.

"Once, a young man set himself on fire in the freezing snow to bring you warmth..."

This sentence kept echoing in her mind. Every climb Lu Mingfei made, every walk in the blizzard consumed his life. It was this life-burning protection that gave birth to this Word of Power.

She always considered herself exceptionally talented. As an A-level hybrid at Kassel College, she was among the elite. However, her only weakness was that she didn't possess her own Word of Power like other hybrids.

Although her profiling skills are impressive, this is not a form of magic. Profiling is a fundamental skill in criminal investigation, and many famous detectives or police officers in history may have possessed profiling abilities that are no less than hers.

Now, this weakness has been overcome thanks to that young man.

Lu Mingfei... how are you now? Are you back too? A strong sense of worry and urgency welled up in Nuonuo's heart.

She had originally planned to tell him everything about the hybrid race and Cassel after the two of them had safely returned to the civilized world.

His return came so suddenly, so unexpectedly, that she didn't even have time to say goodbye properly before she lost track of him.

She wanted to find the boy, but she needed to go back first. Soon, Nono stepped on the gas, the engine roared, and she drove towards the Kassel College.

After Nuonuo drove the car to the dormitory building, she rushed to her dormitory without even turning off the engine. The chill had already spread again, and even the warm air from the air conditioner could not dispel it.

It seemed that only the warmth generated by the Word of Power: Blaze could suppress the chill, but after entering Kassel College, she couldn't even activate the Word of Power: Blaze to generate a trace of warmth.

Dormitory

Susie closed the thick book "Complete Genealogy of the Dragon Clan" in her hand, stretched elegantly, and relieved the fatigue from sitting for a long time.

She glanced at the empty bed next to her and smiled helplessly.

"That crazy girl, Nuonuo, probably won't be coming back tonight either," she muttered to herself, preparing to turn off the lights and rest.

Just then, the dormitory door was suddenly pushed open and slammed against the wall with a loud bang.

Nono rushed in like a gust of wind, and her state startled Susie.

Nono's face was frighteningly pale, her lips were even a little purple, and her whole body was trembling uncontrollably, as if she had just been pulled out of an ice cellar.

Her Kassel College uniform was dry, but the chill emanating from her was undeniable, causing the temperature in the entire dormitory to drop several degrees.

Without even glancing at Susie, she rushed to her wardrobe, haphazardly pulling out all the thick clothes and blankets inside, wrapping them around herself, then curling up under the covers, even covering her head, leaving only a trembling bulge visible.

"Nono?! What's wrong?!" Susie immediately jumped off the bed and rushed to Nono's bedside, asking anxiously.

"What happened? Are you injured? Or sick?"

The bulge inside the blanket shook even more violently, but there was no response.

Susie is Nono's roommate and best friend. She is also an A-level mixed-race. She has never seen Nono so out of control or so vulnerable.

Nono had always been flamboyant and cunning, seemingly in control of everything. But this girl, huddled under the covers trembling, seemed so unfamiliar to Nono that it pained Nono's heart.

"Nono, talk to me! What's wrong?" Susie tried to lift the blanket, but found Nono clinging to it tightly from inside.

"Cold..." After a long while, a faint sound, accompanied by chattering teeth, came from under the covers.

"Cold?" Susie was taken aback. It was early autumn in Chicago, and although it was raining, it was definitely not cold enough to make someone feel this cold.

She reached out and touched the blanket wrapped around Nuonuo; it was icy cold to the touch, as if Nuonuo's body was a source of constant chill.

"Wait a minute!" Susie reacted immediately. She rushed back to her desk, found a thermos containing the hot ginger tea she had made that night that she hadn't finished. She then took out her hot water bottle from the cabinet and rushed into the bathroom to fill it with hot water.

"Nono, have something hot to drink first." Susie tucked the thermos into the gap under the covers.

After a while, a hand that was so cold it didn't seem alive reached out, took the cup, and quickly withdrew it. The sound of small swallows came from under the covers.

Susie then stuffed the hot water bottle inside and placed it on Nono's feet.

After doing all this, Susie sat by Nono's bedside, her brows furrowed. She could sense that Nono's problem was far more than just ordinary coldness.

"Nono, tell me, what happened? Didn't you say you were driving to Chicago? Did something happen on the way?" Susie softened her voice and asked again.

The shaking inside the blanket seemed to have subsided a bit, but Nono still showed no sign of coming out. Just when Susie thought she wouldn't answer, Nono's muffled voice came out, carrying an unprecedented sense of confusion.

"Susie... I think... I've lost something very important..."

Susie was stunned; she had never heard Nono speak in such a tone before.

"What is it?"

Nono didn't answer again. She just wrapped herself in the blanket, hugged the hot water bottle, and silently resisted the persistent cold from another world.

Susie looked at the bulge and knew she wouldn't get any more information out of Nuonuo tonight. She sighed and tucked the blanket around Nuonuo.

"You should rest well first. If you're still not feeling well, I'll go with you to the infirmary tomorrow, or we can ask Professor Masafumi Tomiyama to come and take a look."

She knew that something extremely unusual must have happened to Nono.

Susie turned off the light, leaving only a dim bedside lamp, silently watching over her friend.

The dormitory fell silent, with only the patter of rain outside the window and the occasional soft shivering from the cold coming from under the covers.

Nono kept her eyes tightly closed, her mind filled with the image of that figure trudging through the blizzard.

Lu Mingfei, where are you now? Is it cold where you are?

-----------------

As soon as it was light, Susie opened her eyes. She had barely slept all night, keeping a close eye on Nono's condition.

Nono trembled all night until late at night when she stopped trembling and seemed to fall asleep. However, after falling asleep, Nono started repeating a name over and over again.

His name seems to be Lu Mingfei... Is that the very important thing that Nuonuo mentioned losing before?

"Nono, wake up, I'll take you to the infirmary..." Susie got out of bed, came to Nono's side, and gently nudged her.

But Nono didn't react at all, so Susie quickly lifted the blanket to check on Nono's condition.

Nono's expression was very strange at this moment. Her face was very red, but her body was still trembling. Susie touched Nono's forehead and found that Nono's forehead was frighteningly hot.

Without hesitation, Susie wrapped Nuonuo in the blanket and then carried her down to the dormitory building.

"Excuse me!!!"

Susie, carrying Nono who was wrapped tightly in a blanket, rushed out of the dormitory building. Early-rising students were already active on the Kassel College campus in the early morning. They watched in surprise as Susie, carrying a rolled-up blanket, sprinted towards the infirmary at top speed, her face full of anxiety.

Susie ignored the stares of those around her, but paused slightly when she saw a blank-faced young man at the door. This was the person she had arranged to meet today, but she was too busy to keep her appointment now.

"Sorry! I can't go to the library with you! Maybe next time!" Susie called out anxiously.

"Do you need any help?" Chu Zihang asked, frowning.

After completing his mission in the early morning, he returned to school, gave his wound a simple bandage, and rested. However, he did not forget his promise to Susie to go to the library together today, and waited for Susie downstairs in the dormitory early in the morning. He did not expect to see this scene.

"Help me contact the infirmary to prepare!" Susie could feel that Nono's body temperature on her back was frighteningly high, but her body was still trembling slightly under the blanket. This symptom was extremely strange.

Chu Zihang didn't ask any questions. He immediately took out his phone, quickly followed Su Qian, and calmly dialed the infirmary.

"This is Chu Zihang. A-level student Chen Motong has suddenly fallen ill with a high fever and chills. She is being taken to the infirmary. Please prepare for emergency treatment immediately." His voice was calm and clear, conveying the key information concisely.

The two then rushed together toward the medical building of Kassel College.

Up in the dormitory building they had just left, behind a window carved with intricate patterns, a tall, blond man leaned lazily against the window, a steaming cup of black coffee between his long, slender fingers.

He had obviously noticed the situation below, but his gaze remained fixed on Chu Zihang.

"I heard that Chu Zihang participated in an execution bureau mission last night," the blond man said in a casual tone after taking a sip of his coffee.

"That's right. The opponent is a B-rank hybrid who is very skilled in Japanese swordsmanship. Chu Zihang fought him alone for dozens of rounds without a clear winner. He has only been enrolled for a short time. His combat talent is truly terrifying." A secretary wearing a black dress and with golden bangs that could cover her eyes said.

"Moreover, I've heard that he has accepted the Lionheart Society's invitation. Without a doubt, he will be your main rival for the next few years."

"Is that so?" Caesar's lips curled into a smile that was a mixture of contempt and excitement. He downed the rest of his coffee in one gulp, as if he were drinking not coffee, but a thirst for challenge.

"I'm really looking forward to it. I, Cesare Gattuso, am never afraid of challenges."

He just started his second year of university. He became the president of the student council in his first year and led the student council to defeat the Lionheart Club, which had always been above them. If nothing unexpected happens, the student council will be firmly in his hands and keep the Lionheart Club in check for the next few years.

But if that were the case, it would be incredibly boring; he longed for an opponent who could challenge him.

"Of course, young master, you will always be the strongest." The secretary bowed slightly, his tone respectful and firm, as if stating an undeniable fact.

"Percy, what brought you here this time? It wasn't just to tell me this news, was it?" Caesar turned to his secretary and said.

"Your family has already chosen a bride for you, and they plan to hold the wedding after you graduate," Percy said after a moment's hesitation.

"What?" Upon hearing this, Caesar's face immediately turned ugly.

"Tell my family that I will choose my own bride, and it's none of their business to tell me what to do!"

"Suppressing his anger," Caesar said, a cold rage flashing in his blue eyes. He slammed the empty coffee cup down on the windowsill, making a crisp clinking sound.

Percy seemed to have anticipated Caesar's reaction. He maintained his submissive demeanor and continued, "This is the will of the Elders and the entire family. Please consider this carefully. Going against the Elders' decision could bring you a lot of unnecessary trouble, and even your position as heir could be shaken."

Caesar walked up to Percy, looked down at him, and said, "Percy, listen to this, and go back and tell those old fogies that my future, my life, including my bride, is entirely up to me. If they think that a so-called marriage and the position of heir can bind me, they are sorely mistaken. If they insist on doing so, I will make them pay the price."

"And I've never cared about the position of heir! I don't mind changing my surname from Gattuso to Gulweg. Don't forget I only have half Gattuso blood! The other half comes from the Gulweg family, which you consider lowly!"

"Yes, young master." Percy said no more, bowed respectfully, and quietly left the room.

Caesar was left alone in the room. He stood by the window, sunlight streaming through the glass and shining on his golden hair, making it gleam. But his handsome face was expressionless, and his icy blue eyes even revealed a hint of sadness.
