Sky Island Survival: I Have a Kunpeng Clone
Chapter 19 is about "My mom is Unit-01".
Mo Jiu led He Chuan through a hidden passage behind the rest area.
The walls on both sides of the passage are made of some kind of luminescent crystals.
The soft light illuminated the road ahead.
The deeper you go, the quieter it becomes.
Finally, they stopped in front of a huge metal gate.
The door was gleaming with a mercury-like sheen.
Mo Jiu placed his palm on an inconspicuous crystal plate next to the door.
A soft buzzing sound.
The door slid open silently to both sides, revealing the scene behind it.
He Chuan stepped inside, and the view suddenly opened up before him.
This is an extremely vast space.
It's less of a room and more of a small domed sanctuary.
In the center of the hall, there was not the complex machinery or throne one might imagine.
It was an extremely simple arrangement.
A comfortable-looking chaise lounge and a small table—that's all.
A figure stood with his back to them under the dome.
That is not a physical roof.
Instead, it's a simulated starry sky.
The stars shifted slowly, beautiful and mysterious.
The figure slowly turned around upon hearing the sound.
He Chuan's breath hitched slightly.
He had expected to see some kind of enormous mechanical creation.
Or the image of a majestic ruler.
But the woman in front of him looked to be no more than twenty years old.
She was wearing an elegant moon-white long dress.
The design is simple.
Yet it perfectly accentuated her slender figure.
Her long hair cascaded down her shoulders, the ends seemingly tinged with starlight.
Her appearance is beyond description; it is a perfect harmony that transcends racial boundaries.
But what attracted He Chuan the most were her eyes.
Those eyes didn't have the glowing patterns like Mo Jiu's.
It is as deep as the real universe, with what appears to be galaxies rotating, being born and dying.
Just looking at you quietly is like being able to see right through to the depths of your soul.
However, beneath this perfectly flawless exterior...
He Chuan, however, keenly sensed an indescribable emptiness.
Like an exquisitely crafted doll.
Even the so-called "spirit" in beings like the Mo Yan clan does not exist at all.
"Mother, Mr. He Chuan has arrived."
Mo Jiu bowed deeply, his tone filled with unprecedented respect.
The woman referred to as "Mother" nodded slightly, her gaze falling on He Chuan.
The voice was ethereal and peaceful.
It was strangely pleasant to the ear, without any emotional fluctuations.
"Welcome, traveler from another world, He Chuan. I am Unit-01, the origin of the Mo Yan Clan, and they call me Mother."
He Chuan composed himself, suppressing the shock in his heart, and bowed slightly:
"It's an honor to meet you."
The mother gently raised her hand and pointed to the floor next to the soft couch, where an ergonomic cushion automatically rose up.
"Please sit down. There's no need to be formal; this is just a simple conversation."
He Chuan sat down as instructed, while Mo Jiu stood quietly to the side, like the most loyal guard.
The mother also sat gracefully on the soft couch, her hands folded on her knees.
"Over the long years, I have seen many lives from different worlds."
The mother got straight to the point, without any unnecessary pleasantries.
"Such a large-scale influx of visitors from another world happened thousands of years ago."
She paused, her universe-like eyes fixed on He Chuan.
"Of course, as a traveler, I won't take up too much of your time. Since being abandoned by the Creator, I have three questions, and I hope you can offer some insights from your perspective."
"Please ask."
He Chuan sat up straight, knowing that the main topic was about to begin.
This kind of thing, without even thinking about it, must be very important.
"My first question is, what is the meaning of life in your opinion?"
He Chuan was stunned for a moment.
I never expected it to be such a philosophical question.
So many sages of the past couldn't answer this question, what can I do?
Moreover, the Moyan tribe has always considered itself the "creator," so do they really need answers to this kind of question?
He pondered for a moment, then tried to answer:
"Meaning is probably the act of living itself, and the experiences and feelings one goes through in the process. In our world, there is a saying: the meaning of life lies in existence."
The mother nodded gently, offering no comment.
"My second question is, what do you think the eternal void means?"
This question is more relevant to reality.
He Chuan thought for a moment, then, drawing on his own experience, said:
"A cruel selection field? The Lord of the Cloud Sea throws people from countless worlds here, perhaps for amusement, or perhaps to select something."
He paused for a moment, and then, drawing on some of his previous works, offered his own speculations.
"In our world, there is a theory of civilization filters. When a civilization reaches a certain level, it will be filtered out. This is known as the 'Great Filter Theory'."
"A selection field, a very interesting metaphor."
The mother nodded again, and then asked the third question.
However, just as she was about to speak, she paused for a rare moment.
Subsequently, it was quite noticeable that she changed the original problem.
"In your world, is the starry sky beautiful?"
He Chuan was somewhat surprised.
In a short period of time, various speculations flashed through my mind.
But he still answered honestly:
"It's beautiful. When you look up at night, you can see the Milky Way stretching across the sky, with countless stars twinkling, making you feel your own insignificance and also making you yearn for that unknown vastness."
As he spoke, images of the Earth's night sky appeared in his mind, a sight rarely seen from the sea of clouds.
The mother listened quietly without responding.
She slowly raised her head and fell into a long silence.
He Chuan could even hear his own heartbeat.
After a long while, the mother finally looked away and turned to He Chuan, her expression returning to its previous calm and composed state.
"Thank you for your reply, He Chuan. They are very valuable. You can leave now."
Is that all?
He Chuan was somewhat confused.
But she still stood up and bowed.
"I look forward to our next conversation."
After speaking, the mother turned around again and looked at the false starry sky, her back view appearing somewhat lonely.
Mo Jiu gestured to He Chuan, leading him away from the hall.
The heavy door slowly closed behind us.
He Chuan let out a long sigh of relief, feeling as if a huge burden had been lifted off his shoulders.
"Mother, has she always been like this?" He Chuan couldn't help but ask.
Mo Jiu walked beside him, and upon hearing this, the red light in her eyes flickered steadily:
"My mother rarely meets with outsiders. Your answer is clearly important and should be recorded in our deep database."
"Deep database?"
"The most core existence in our clan."
Mo Jiu's voice remained calm, but He Chuan detected a slight difference.
"The creators of Mother were members of a technologically advanced civilization. They were also survivors pulled into the Eternal Void. Before disappearing, they created Mother and left behind the initial instruction: Wait."
He Chuan was startled.
So this is how the Mo Yan tribe originated.
"My mother was always trying to understand the Creator's intentions, to understand concepts like 'life' and 'world.' She kept giving birth to us, hoping to understand why the Creator left."
Mo Jiu continued.
He Chuan fell silent.
Back at the rest area, Qin Ya immediately greeted him with concern on her face.
"How are you? Are you alright?"
"It's nothing, we just talked about life and the universe."
He Chuan smiled, trying to lighten the mood.
"That mother was a bit special."
Yunzhi drifted over, bringing a touch of cool comfort.
"It's good that my benefactor is alright."
He Chuan felt a little more relaxed as he felt the soft touch on his arm.
He looked out the window at the night view of Ink City, and gained a deeper understanding of the complexity of the Eternal Void Realm.
……
Inside the hall.
The mother continued to gaze up at the false starry sky.
Mo Jiu stood quietly behind her.
After a long while, the mother's ethereal voice rang out again, carrying a hint of almost imperceptible confusion.
"Mo Jiu".
"Mother, I'm here."
"Based on He Chuan's description, what do you think is in the sky above our world right now?"
The red light in Mo Jiu's eyes shone steadily:
"According to existing data, beyond the sky lies an infinite vacuum and stars, a world situated within the sea of clouds."
The mother paused for a moment, then asked:
"Would you like to see it? The real starry sky?"
Mo Jiu's program seemed to lag for a moment, but she quickly responded:
"My duty is to serve and accompany. Wherever my mother wants to go is my destination."
The mother did not speak again.
"I will wait, wait for them to come back."
