Ancient Wizards: A Little Progress Every Day
Chapter 63 The Academy's End
Dargo and Dean Jodes met in the air and began a one-sided massacre of the remaining black-robed wizards on the ground.
Basically, no third-level apprentice wizard could withstand a single spell from them, and many of them were even killed by the aftershocks of their battle with Flax.
Before long, Dago and Dean Jodes had purged the black-robed wizard who had gone mad.
Amidst the raging inferno, the two of them landed on the blood-soaked streets.
Currently, only the Mound of Flesh, which occupies the entire Wizarding Hall and is occupied by the Blood Mother Ersog, remains to be dealt with.
"These beasts! They're too arrogant!"
Dean Jodes, panting heavily, growled angrily, "Insane! Outrageous!"
Dago nodded in approval.
As the two drew closer to the pulsating wizard's hall, they truly grasped the immense size and power of the Hill of Flesh.
The sounds of the surging waves of the Darkblood Sea and the eerie whispers emanating from the Hill of Flesh and Blood could be heard constantly.
Their blood began to thicken like syrup, making movement increasingly difficult.
Their mental energy field was constantly being bombarded by blood energy particles, and their ability to perceive the environment was constantly decreasing. They could only continuously compress their mental energy field to resist the erosion of the environment.
Even the most basic flying ability of formal wizards is restricted, and they can only approach the Hill of Flesh on foot.
The area around the Hill of Flesh and Blood began to become bizarre and chaotic. The two men exchanged a glance and knew they had to deal with the source of this problem as soon as possible.
Dargo raised his ice crystal wand, compressing a massive amount of air to its limit until it ignited!
A nuclear air bomb is ready to be launched.
Meanwhile, a massive energy surge once again gathered in the center of the fire ring seal behind Dean Jodes, preparing to bombard the Hill of Flesh and Blood.
Suddenly, the charred corpse in the center of the pit moved. The first sound to come from the knuckles was a crackling sound, like the twisting of dried branches.
Carbonized skin cracked at the joints, and the charred corpse Flax leaped high from the crater, landing with a heavy thud.
The shock caused his charred, carbonized skin to fall off in a flurry, revealing the writhing flesh and muscles beneath.
His head was burned and half of it collapsed, and his charred lips stretched into a strange arc, as if mocking their arrogance.
He moved, like a bolt of blood-red lightning.
Dago's pupils suddenly contracted; he didn't even understand what had happened.
"Thump!"
The charred corpse Flax's fleshy, writhing hand pierced precisely through Dean Jodes's chest.
With his eyes wide open, Jodes clung to Flax's left arm, spraying bright red blood from his mouth.
Flax was clutching Jodes' still-beating heart in his left arm.
Jodes felt a hollow, tearing sensation in his chest. He slowly raised his head and stared intently into those blood-red eyes.
The fire ring magic seal on his back collapsed in the wind, and he breathed his last in endless resentment.
With a slight tremor, Dago fired the Flame Core Air Bullet from the tip of his Ice Crystal Wand toward the Hill of Flesh and Blood.
The blazing core, trailing light and heat, illuminated the panicked expression on the charred corpse Flax's face; he had gambled correctly.
Flax, the charred corpse, pulled out his writhing left arm and swallowed Jodes' heart whole, which then exploded within his body as pure blood energy.
He transformed into crimson lightning once more and leaped toward the Flame Core, using his own writhing flesh to block the Blood Mother's path.
The next second, golden-red flames burst forth from the charred flesh and blood of Flax...
"boom--!!!!"
The moment the roar sounded, Dago, ignoring the pain, let himself be slammed to the ground by the energy storm, lying face down on the ground.
The explosive flames first pierced vertically, then enveloped Flax's body.
The constantly writhing flesh and blood body was like a giant torch, dazzlingly bright outside the wizard's hall! It made the entire Hill of Flesh and Blood look like a golden mountain.
What followed was a scorching heatwave that ignited everything flammable in the surrounding area, turning the vicinity into a sea of blood and fire.
When the roar subsided, Dago, who was lying on the ground, carefully raised his head; in the raging flames, only a charred skeleton remained, slowly collapsing.
And inside that charred skeleton was a heart.
A heart that is still beating!
"Splash! Splash! Splash..."
Looking at that heart beating in sync with the Wizarding Hall, Dargo's gaze froze instantly.
On the blood-soaked, charred surface, a dark blood crystal was embedded!
While Dago was still in a daze, his still-beating heart suddenly began to gush out foul-smelling pus and blood from the rupture.
The rotten heart then began to writhe wildly, and lumps filled with pus began to grow.
The heart was completely surrounded by countless pustules, which began to swell outwards as pus and blood seeped out...
It quickly formed a sarcoma in the shape of a "torso" without bones.
The sarcoma greedily devoured the scattered flesh and blood nearby, gradually rotting and dissolving it until it was completely dissolved in the ever-growing pustules and blood plasma.
It's trying to come back to life?!
With a stunned expression, Dago immediately stood up, his body wracked with pain, and lunged at Flax's corpse in the sea of fire. He raised his ice crystal wand and aimed it at Flax's heart, quickly condensing an air blast.
"Bang!"
The air bomb exploded near the tumor and heart, and flesh mixed with pus burst outwards, spraying outwards like a gushing geyser.
In the center of the mangled torso torn apart by the air blast, the beating heart was once again exposed.
It's now!
With gritted teeth, Dago lunged into the sea of blood and flesh, opened his right icy claw, and with a "plop!" thrust it into the center of the still-expanding tumor, forcefully pulling the heart out of it.
Along with chunks of flesh and blood, Dago, covered in pus, tightly gripped Flax's heart, which was still beating in his palm!
Almost at the same moment his ice claws gripped his heart, a sizzling sound immediately came from his palm—pus continuously oozing from his heart was corroding his right claw.
Dago's pupils contracted sharply, and he immediately mobilized his mental energy to activate the ice energy in his ice claws to envelop his entire heart, freezing it completely inside the ice.
However, the heart continued to beat, slowly corroding the ice energy and melting the ice, like a perpetually thirsty sac.
It relentlessly devours everything that comes near it, and even mere touch will quickly corrode and assimilate it...
One can imagine that once corrupted by Him, one will gradually lose oneself in the process of being constantly devoured and "become stronger"—flesh and blood, internal organs, brain...
So, just like the Ship of Artemis, is Flax still the same Flax?
Dago stared at the heart still beating within the ice, his expression complex, and slowly raised his left hand.
The entire block of ice disappeared and was stored in his storage space.
Flax's story has come to a complete end.
But Dago felt no joy of victory in his empty heart.
Only blood can grant immortality to the soul… This is the ultimate fate of Flax, who has become the loyal hound of the Blood Mother Erzog.
And what about myself? What fate awaits me?
The colors of blood and flame filled Dago's dilated pupils.
The walls near the wizard's hall were smeared with foul-smelling pus and blood.
Severed limbs and corpses lay scattered about, submerged in pools of blood that had spilled onto the floor tiles. Burning flames flowed like liquid within the blood, sizzling and crackling incessantly…
A mysterious allure emanated from the nearby mound of flesh and blood, resembling a sleeping infant...
Let Dago enter the wizarding hall, rush into the embrace of the Blood Mother, and become Her chosen one.
He heard countless strange sounds, his mind was filled with chaotic thoughts, and he felt a strong sense of unease and abnormality.
"This place is about to become hell; it seems we cannot stay any longer."
Feeling nauseous, Dago frowned, his mind foggy as he thought to himself.
He forced himself to approach Dean Jodes's corpse, his lips twitched as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he chose to remain silent and put the body into his storage space.
Dago glanced back at the ever-distorting and blurring outline of the wizarding hall, accompanied by an eerie aura that foreshadowed an even greater crisis.
He activated the self-cleaning runes on his robes, cleaning off the sticky pus from his body.
Without looking back, he started running towards the outskirts of the city until he was out of the influence of Blood Mother Erzog.
