Ancient Wizards: A Little Progress Every Day
Chapter 23 Moloch
Eight more days passed, and the forest patrol team discovered two more identical mummified corpses on the outer edge of the forest.
The town of Aynak became increasingly chaotic during this period, and the Academy gradually lost control of the town.
The entire town was filled with a strong sense of unease, outrageous prices, and an atmosphere of anxiety and tension.
More and more information about the Darkblood Council is being leaked.
More and more men in the town were being forcibly conscripted into the army and sent to the front lines as consumables to drain the spiritual energy of the Darkblood Council's black-robed wizards.
Many people who had exhausted their savings and were wandering aimlessly in despair became desperate and began to commit murder and robbery.
With academy wizards in charge of the wealthy areas of the town, order was barely maintained.
However, the situation is much worse in the shantytowns and suburbs of towns, where robbery and murder are commonplace.
A few days ago, Viser appeared at the treehouse outpost covered in blood in the morning, startling everyone, but they understood after he had washed himself clean.
On his way to the treehouse outpost, he was attacked by a group of ruthless bandits, but Viser killed them all, leaving him covered in blood.
As a result, the forest rangers became famous in the area, and the bandits who roamed the outskirts of the town dared not touch them.
However, the patrol team soon discovered that almost all the wizards in the forest had fled, leaving only the remaining ones active.
At 8:50 a.m., at the treehouse outpost, damp mist permeated the ancient trees, carrying the scent of decaying leaves and moss.
The forest rangers had finished breakfast, put on their gear, and were chatting and laughing as they waited for Viser to come from the academy.
Before long, Viser, dressed in a magnificent robe, arrived at the stronghold.
The group patrols were conducted in the usual assigned teams, and everyone worked together quite well.
Unfortunately, no new members have joined, leaving Dago's team with only two people.
"Each group, maintain a distance of 200 meters, and set off!" Dagger gave the order and led the way.
The current Dago is like a completely different person compared to before; he is tall and slender with a handsome appearance.
Long, black hair cascaded over her shoulders, and a deep blue halo shone in her pale blue eyes, revealing an undeniable sharpness in her gaze.
He was followed by a little fangirl named Serena, who would steal glances at him every now and then.
Dago unfolded the sheepskin map, looked at it, and found that the chosen route was one that had been patrolled before and was considered relatively safe.
He walked on the familiar dirt road, constantly scanning the hidden locations around him with his detection spell.
After walking for more than half an hour, a frightened deer leaped into view.
He disappeared into another thicket in a flash, then stopped and immediately became alert.
He scanned the area with his detection spell and, finding nothing amiss, breathed a sigh of relief.
Just when he thought everything was alright, Ian's desperate cry came from afar: "Darkblood Council~~~~"
Dago's pupils contracted, realizing that Viser's group had encountered members of the Darkblood Council. He hurriedly ran towards Viser's group on his right.
.........
In a clearing in the nearby forest, Viser stared intently at the black-robed wizard before him, gripping his sapphire-encrusted oak wand and pointing it at him.
"Look what Moloch has found: three cups of fresh and delicious blood drink."
The black-robed wizard Morlock spoke in a sound like the grinding of sand in his throat.
Upon hearing Ian shout in a panic beside Viser, his expression changed, and he immediately drew his Spine Wand.
He chanted a spell quickly, and a dark red mist of blood emanated from his spinal wand, swirling around him.
Seeing this, Viser quickly chanted a spell, and a faintly glowing shield instantly enveloped a two-meter radius around him.
With a flick of Morlock's wand, ten blood-red spears burst forth from the blood mist in the air, baring their fangs and claws like venomous snakes as they shot toward Viser and his companions.
With a series of sharp "whoosh" sounds, like a bowstring suddenly snapping, the blood spears pierced the air with a rapid whooshing sound.
Then came a series of muffled "plop" "plop" "plop" sounds as the car plunged into the grass ahead.
Several bloody spears fell in front of Viser, and behind him stood Ian, whose legs were so weak he could barely stand.
Gavin, however, was impaled on the ground by three or four bloody spears, blood gushing from his mouth...
His eyes were unfocused, and he murmured, "Mom, save me," before his head lolled to the side and he died.
Viser watched this scene with a grim expression; the protective light barrier in front of him had dimmed to the point of being almost transparent.
He waved his wand again and chanted a spell. A one-meter-long, curved wind blade condensed into shape after more than ten seconds and shot straight toward Morlock.
Moloch, of course, wouldn't just stand by and watch Viser chant incantations while waiting for him to unleash his magic.
During this time, he also cast a spell on Viser and the other person...
A misty, vengeful spirit flew out from his spine and wand, heading straight for Viser and Ian.
When the scimitar-shaped wind blade flew rapidly to within a meter of Morlock, the blood mist in the air transformed into a giant blood-red hand and shattered the scimitar-shaped wind blade.
The misty, vengeful spirits released by Morlock were blocked by Viser's protective shield...
But then, the misty, vengeful spirits kept crashing into the protective shield, and with each impact, the shield grew dimmer and dimmer.
Seeing the constantly crashing, misty, vengeful spirits and the soon-to-disappear protective shield, Viser gritted his teeth and actually lifted Ian up to shield himself.
Ian, who was mentioned by Viser, was also stunned. He stared at the terrifying, grotesque, misty ghost with his body limp, and then fainted from fright.
Just a second before the Viser shield was about to disappear, old Maric, along with Evan and his wife, arrived first.
Old Marico's hands emitted a soft silver light, like a surging tide rushing towards the misty, vengeful spirit, instantly knocking it away.
When Viser saw the vengeful spirit being knocked away and released Ian, he trembled with fear.
The Evans each wielded a small fireball and hurled it at Morlock, but it was shattered by two blood spears that flew out from the blood mist.
"Look at you two weaklings, wouldn't it be better to just obediently turn you into my blood food?" Morlock said hoarsely, his eyes gleaming with bloodlust.
Just as Morlock finished his boastful remark, a sudden, violent whooshing sound came from afar...
It rapidly approached, accompanied by an incredibly strong surge of ice elemental energy.
Morlock abruptly turned his head toward the direction from which the sound and vibrations were coming.
The next second, his pupils contracted sharply!
A deep blue, ink-black ice crystal projectile, about the size of a rugby ball, hurtled along the ground.
The ice crystal projectiles spun violently, leaving a powerful frost trail in their wake, tracing a white path through the air...
Like a shooting star hurled by the gods, yet hotter and more violent than starlight.
The black-robed wizard Morlock instantly transformed the blood mist into a large, crimson hand, firmly protecting himself.
"Boom!" The ice crystal projectile collided with the crimson hand, the deafening roar tearing through the air...
A blinding white light appeared in front of Morlock, and the shockwave, like an invisible giant hand, hurled sand, gravel, and turf within a ten-meter radius into the air.
The next second, the ice crystals shattered into thousands of sharp ice blades. These ice blades, carrying a bone-chilling cold, shot out in all directions like crows on command.
At the epicenter of the explosion, a massive ice cone altar formed, with sharp ice ridges extending into the sky in eerie arcs, while layers of frost flowers condensed on the ground.
The remaining icy mist churned in the air, enveloping the area in a frigid hell.
Molok, who had been blasted away, reached out and wiped away the blood and ice water splattered on his face from the melting ice blades. A deep sense of unease and terror flashed in his eyes.
The survivor's teeth chattered, his limbs stiffened, and even his courage to run away was frozen in place by the bone-chilling cold.
Moloch raised a thin, almost vanishing blood mist, his expression ferocious, and shouted through gritted teeth, "You, a high-level third-level apprentice wizard, resorting to sneak attacks? That's utterly shameless!"
He was met with a fist-sized compressed air bullet.
The deadly whistling sound rang out again, and Morlock had no time to dodge.
"Boom!"
The air blast collided squarely with Morlock, and the thin, paper-thin blood mist couldn't stop it at all.
The air bomb exploded, leaving a large crater in the soft grass.
Morlock was flung away by the shockwave of the explosion, like a kite with a broken string.
He rolled several times on the ground, his black robe tattered and his body covered in wounds.
Large gushes of blood gushed from Morlock's mouth and nose; his internal organs were almost completely shattered.
Moloch, clinging to his last breath, struggled to crawl on the ground.
At this moment, the remaining four people on the field were all in a daze, having launched their attack on Moloch with the determination to die.
The situation took such a dramatic turn that they hadn't even had time to react.
One second the evil and powerful Darkblood Council black-robed wizard was still putting on airs, the next second he was blasted half to death by witchcraft, with no ability to resist at all.
Under the unyielding spirit of Morlock and the expectant gazes of the patrol team, a figure strode out of the forest.
