The dream of becoming a Pokémon master
82. Who is the main character after all?
"Satoshi." Kyosuke clenched his fist.
"What's wrong, Kyosuke? Ahhh, it hurts so much!"
After a friendly exchange, Kyosuke brought Satoshi to Misty and Brock.
"Ash has decided to give up digging for Pokémon fossils, right?" Kyosuke hinted with his eyes.
"That's right, digging up Pokémon fossils is definitely wrong! I firmly oppose it!" Ash stated that his stance has always been firm.
The vote is now three to one, and Xiaoxia hasn't said anything. After all, she only dug up the fossils because she agreed with Xiaozhi.
Of course, neither Kyosuke, Satoshi, nor Brock knew this.
Since they weren't going to spend time and effort digging, the group found a flat spot on a nearby pile of stones and sat down to rest.
"Ash, tell me about your trip," Kyosuke said to Ash.
He was indeed particularly curious about Ash's way of traveling, which involved knowing nothing about Pokémon, relying solely on his Pokédex, lacking any survival skills, only knowing how to eat, and relying solely on his passion to get by.
The three friends from Pallet Town are: Kyosuke, who is powerful but not good at communicating with others; Gary, who has a powerful background but is too arrogant; and Ash, who is simply a silly fool.
Kyosuke was also shocked to meet Satoshi in Big Fool Valley.
The fact that Ash, with his abilities, could travel for half a year and remain as lively and energetic as ever, instead of disappearing somewhere or crying and going home to find his mother, made Kyosuke feel that everyone was traveling under different conditions.
Therefore, Kyosuke also became extremely curious about Satoshi's experiences.
Unlike Kyosuke, Satoshi is someone who enjoys making friends and sharing his experiences with others.
After hearing what Kyosuke said, Satoshi quickly sat down next to Kyosuke and began his story.
"First of all, as you know, Pikachu and I accidentally blew up Misty's bicycle in Viridian Forest, and then she started blaming me."
Kyosuke: I don't know.
Then look at Xiaoxia; her face is all red.
"After that, the Viridian Pokémon Center was blown up. But for some reason, those two people and one cat suddenly set their sights on my Pikachu and kept trying to catch it." "Pika pika." Pikachu nodded in agreement.
This guy probably knows the reason.
This amazing Pikachu is absolutely rare all over the world!
"After that, I caught Pidgeotto and Caterpie in Viridian City, but Caterpie had already flown away with its other half."
I've heard Professor Oak mention this guy, Kyosuke. He cares more about the Pokémon's feelings than his own, which is very much in line with Ash's style.
But after that, Ash's introduction was like a completely different story.
"I met Brock in Pewter City, and he suddenly realized that what he really wanted to be was a Pokémon breeder, so we embarked on a journey together. Afterwards, we caught Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. Charmander was abandoned by other trainers, but it's incredibly strong and has now evolved into Charmeleon. At Professor Bill's lighthouse, we encountered a giant Pokémon, about 100 meters tall! And then…"
After that, the story is a recurring cycle where you enter a city and a competition happens by chance, you encounter magical things when you go to the wild, Pokémon always appear when you want them, and you develop a bond with them through a series of events and eventually get together.
For the first time, Kyosuke began to doubt himself.
I should be the main character, right? But why do I always feel like Ash is the one?
I've never experienced anything like this before: receiving powerful travel companions when I go out, getting rare Pokémon just by walking around, encountering serendipitous events in the wild, and having battles in the city!
"...But I really hate Team Rocket. They always manage to get into trouble, though I always manage to chase them away. After all, it's my responsibility as a trainer! But for some reason, they just keep following us around like crazy," Ash concluded.
So not only are there constant unexpected encounters, but there are also regular enemies who regularly give you experience points?
Kyosuke felt like he had been abandoned by the world.
Maybe I really am stronger than Ash, but why do I always feel like he's the real winner in life?
"I must try traveling with Ash sometime in the future," Kyosuke secretly resolved in his heart.
"So Ash, you only have six badges now?" Kyosuke carefully recalled Ash's experience and found that he had only collected six badges so far, which was two short of participating in the Indigo League. And there were only two months left before the Indigo League opened.
"Yeah, is there a problem?" Xiao Zhi asked, puzzled.
Since Xiaozhi was confident, Kyosuke didn't offer any further reminders.
Of course, he didn't know that Ash not only didn't know the opening time of the tournament, but also had no idea about the location or rules of the tournament.
As the main character, Ash should be fine, right?
No! How can I accept someone else as the protagonist?! Kyosuke suddenly realized that his mindset was wrong.
I am the protagonist forever! If I affirm Ash's victory, I will have no way to defeat him!
Although Xiaozhi's experience is similar to that of the male protagonist in the anime, Kyosuke believes that his own experience is also extraordinary, and he could probably be the male lead in an ordinary novel, right?
"Speaking of which, Ash, your teamwork with Pikachu is incomparable to what it was back then. Do you remember when you first met, you didn't really pay attention to each other, and it was only in the end that you used Thunderbolt to blow up the Pokémon Center?" Kyosuke suddenly recalled the scene when they first met.
"Pikachu and I are best friends, right, Pikachu?" Ash said to Pikachu with a smile.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu responded.
Such a bond, almost like telepathy. No wonder he's Ash Ketchum!
"Oh right, Kyosuke, let's have a battle!" Ash suddenly remembered and immediately stood up and said to Kyosuke.
Kyosuke was taken aback when he heard what Ash said, but it was indeed Ash who had decided to challenge him to a battle during their conversation.
"Sure, but are you sure you want to be defeated by me before the Indigo League? I won't hold back in a battle." Kyosuke stood up, took a Poké Ball from his belt, enlarged it, and said to Ash.
Ash shouted back, "Of course! Trainers grow through battles!"
"Then, I'll be the referee." Brock stood up and stood between Kyosuke and Ash. "The rules are one-on-one, with only one Pokémon used at a time, until one side is rendered powerless to battle. Any objections?"
"No." "Let's get started!"
"Then, let the battle begin!"
"Go, Phoenix!"
"I choose you! Bulbasaur!"
Ouji is a Fire/Flying type, while Bulbasaur is a Grass/Poison type. It's obvious that Ouji has the advantage, but for some reason, Kyosuke always feels that something is wrong.
