The dream of becoming a Pokémon master
55. Two Friends
"If possible, I hope you can use your superpowers to help me find my two friends!" Kyosuke said to Sabrina.
"Finding people isn't really my area of expertise with my superpowers," Sabrina said somewhat helplessly. "But, even if I can't know their exact location, would it be okay if I could let you sense their condition?"
"It's ready." Kyosuke nodded.
He hadn't originally planned to do this; it was only because of Natsumi's extraordinary abilities that he suddenly had the idea. Even if Natsumi said she couldn't do it, it wouldn't matter.
Being able to sense their state and know whether they are doing well or not is enough.
Naza nodded: "Later, open your mind and think carefully about the person you want to know, and their feelings will be conveyed to you."
Kyosuke indicated that he understood.
"Close your eyes, open your mind, close your eyes, open your mind..."
Suddenly, Kyosuke felt as if his soul had left his body and arrived in another world. He felt that he had no physical form and could only think, not act.
"Superpowers are truly amazing!" Kyosuke exclaimed.
But now is not the time for praise.
Kyosuke quickly thought to himself: Mewtwo, Mewtwo, Mewtwo...
In an instant, he felt himself being pulled closer by another consciousness!
Then a surge of sensations rushed over me!
"Aaaaaaah!"
In reality, Kyosuke suddenly screamed, startling Sabrina. Then, Sabrina felt a powerful superpower sever her senses.
Kyosuke's consciousness returned to his body in an instant, and he gasped for breath.
"Huff, huff, huff, that painful feeling, and the sense of being lost in the world... Mewtwo, what's wrong with you...?"
The instant their consciousnesses connected, Kyosuke felt a sharp, stabbing pain in his brain! Then, Mewtwo's confusion, anger, and sorrow were instantly conveyed to Kyosuke. Though it was only a brief moment, Kyosuke understood: Mewtwo was not in a normal state! He needed help!
Viridian City, I have to go back to Viridian City again! It's the only place where you can find Mewtwo!
"Kyosuke, who was that just now? That person's psychic abilities are no less than mine, and they might even be stronger!" Sabrina asked seriously. She had always thought of herself as the strongest psychic in the world, and now such a powerful person had suddenly appeared, and she had no recollection of him at all?
"I'm sorry, I promised him I wouldn't tell," Kyosuke replied to Natsumi, rubbing his head to ease the discomfort from the recent mental connection. "But I know he's in a strange state right now; he might be suffering. But I... I don't even know where he is." The thought made Kyosuke even more distressed. Having become friends, yet unable to share the other's pain, he felt utterly powerless.
Naza didn't care about all that; she was just surprised that such a powerful being could be restricted, which was a warning to her.
However, in order to deal with Kyosuke quickly, she could only remind him, "If you're not happy about it, then try your best to make amends. Don't stay here and be sad; that's the most useless thing to do. Aren't you supposed to be looking for news of another friend? Are you just going to forget about him like this?"
Sabrina still doesn't know that Kyosuke's friend isn't a person, but a Pokémon.
However, these words reminded Kyosuke that since Mewtwo was in danger, he should stand up and help him. If he was weak, then he should become stronger.
and……
The thought of her softened Kyosuke instantly.
Of course, seeing this expression, Naz was very unhappy and quickly urged, "Hurry up and get it done, don't drag it out."
When the time came, Kyosuke felt a pang of fear: what if she didn't like me? What if she had already forgotten me...?
"Hurry up!" Naz urged again.
Kyosuke had no choice but to calm himself down and begin to think carefully...
However, just as he transformed into an ideology, Kyosuke felt himself being enveloped, and then a surge of consciousness came over him.
"I miss you so much……"
Kyosuke's heart seemed to stop; he replied tremblingly, "Me too, I missed you so much..."
Then, the connection was severed.
Back in his body, Kyosuke realized he was already in tears.
Naz looked at him with a surprised expression.
"Just now, just now! I, I heard her voice! Is it real, or am I hallucinating?" Kyosuke asked, tears streaming down his face, as he held Sabrina's hand.
"Hear a voice? That's unlikely, since you should only be able to sense the other person's state. But you seem a bit strange." Sabrina was also puzzled. This was the first time she had heard of hearing a voice, but based on her speculation, it wasn't impossible. However, in order to tease Kyosuke, she didn't explain it to him.
"Ah, yeah, it must be because of the connection with Mewtwo before." Kyosuke wiped away his tears and gave himself an excuse.
"Thank you, Miss Sabrina." Kyosuke thanked Sabrina, after all, it wasn't something anyone else should do. "Then I'll be leaving."
The middle-aged man suddenly appeared, accompanied by a woman who didn't look too old and resembled Natsumi somewhat. Kyosuke guessed that she was the man's wife.
"The family is finally reunited." Kyosuke sighed.
"Wait a minute, I want to ask, how exactly did you defeat me?" Sabrina asked the question that she had been thinking about for a long time but couldn't figure out.
"Look at me, don't you notice any changes in me?" Kyosuke asked rhetorically.
"Hmm...your hair has gotten longer?" Naz asked doubtfully.
"More or less." Kyosuke didn't want to explain anymore.
After saying goodbye to Sabrina's family, they left the Saffron City Gym and Saffron City, embarking on their journey back to Viridian City.
Watching Kyosuke's retreating figure, Naza revealed a smile that was hard to decipher.
Is it really all over?
Is the current Naza a combination of her two past personalities, or the birth of a new one?
Will something interesting happen in the future?
However, none of this has anything to do with Kyosuke anymore.
Kyosuke's path lies ahead!
Meanwhile, at the Rockets' headquarters.
The man sitting in the chair gently stroked the cat boss beside him while listening to his subordinate's report.
"...Regarding Goldenrod City, its population is decreasing rapidly. We could try to take it over, but there's a rumor circulating that Team Rocket is behind the Smile incident, which might affect our plans." The woman in uniform finished her report and then mentioned the recent hot topic—Goldenrod City.
"Golden City, the largest city in Kanto, that's a great place." The man gently scratched the cat boss's chin, and the cat boss showed a comfortable expression. "The Silph Building is a great place too."
"I understand." The woman bowed and withdrew.
What did she finally understand?
The man stopped talking and just sat quietly, gently stroking the cat's body.
Indeed, regardless of age or status, there is no one who doesn't like petting cats.
