The dream of becoming a Pokémon master

Kyosuke was reluctant to step into this black forbidden zone before, partly because he saw the power of the divine beast and thought it would be a good end to this exploration of the Viridian Forest, and partly because he hoped that the deceased would rest in peace.

Now that they know there's a tiny life inside, all the previous reasons are irrelevant. In this world, some people have things more important than life itself, but for Kyosuke, life is the most important thing. Human life, Pokémon life—both are.

Saving that little life is what he must do now.

That child might be a Spearow, a Finch, or even just a Pokémon egg that had just arrived in the world, but it had already been alone in this desolate, black realm for over twenty days. Thinking of this, Kyosuke looked at the two floating ghosts ahead, and his heart ached even more.

Kyosuke had already guessed that the destination was the indistinct central protrusion, but he simply followed behind the ghosts. He knew that the two ghosts, who seemed ready to scatter at any moment, were the most anxious, and this was a basic respect for them.

Actually, the two ghosts were already quite fast, not much slower than Pidgey, but it still took them nearly twenty minutes to arrive.

Kyosuke went closer and saw that they were the corpses of two large-billed sparrows that had been roasted to a crisp, but they were still intact.

Kyosuke then thought of the legend about the Bell Tower in the Johto region. The legend said that war destroyed the Bell Tower, killing three Pokémon. Ho-Oh, enraged, resurrected the Pokémon and left. Upon closer inspection, however, it was full of flaws.

Did the flames of war only destroy the Bell Tower and kill three Pokémon? Or did Ho-Oh only care about the Bell Tower? Are the resurrected Raikou, Entei, and Suicune truly what they were once? Could it be that Ho-Oh burned down the Bell Tower itself and recreated three Pokémon of his own choosing? It is said that the sacred flame of the Johto region is Ho-Oh's flame; could it have been taken from the burning Bell Tower?

Kyosuke felt a chill run down his spine.
