The dream of becoming a Pokémon master
101. Unequal Treaties and Farewell
After the battle ended, Blaine returned to Kyosuke's side.
Patting Kyosuke on the shoulder, Blaine comforted him, "Molotov's level is far beyond what a novice trainer like you can handle. You should understand that now. Besides, the heat-resistant balls on the market aren't very high quality. Even if you could defeat Molotov, there aren't any suitable Poké Balls to catch it, and it would explode from the high temperature. I believe that if you keep working hard, you can definitely become a Pokémon Master. Molotov is someone you should really challenge in the future..."
Kyosuke seemed not to hear Blaine's words, staring blankly at the Poké Ball in the distance that had stopped shaking.
It seems he has successfully subdued them?
"...Trainers must be down-to-earth. I think you have the potential to become the champion of this Indigo League, but you still need to be stronger..." Blaine was still teaching a ball of air with his eyes closed.
"I've caught Moltres!"
Kyosuke's voice came from afar.
When Blaine opened her eyes, she found that Kyosuke, who should have been beside her, was already far away, holding a very cheap-looking heat-resistant ball in his hand.
"You've subdued him? You've subdued him?" Blaine's mouth gaped open, and Kyosuke doubted whether he could still take it back.
Nodding to Blaine, Kyosuke said, "Yes, he's subdued."
Xia Bo felt that his worldview had been shaken.
A rookie trainer catching a legendary Pokémon? That's just a pipe dream!
"Come forth, Moltres!" Kyosuke opened the heat-resistant sphere, and Moltres actually came out of it!
Looking at the firebird hovering in the air next to Kyosuke, Blaine truly felt old, and dejectedly slumped forward to the side.
Moltres also extended an invitation to Kyosuke to communicate.
"Chirp chirp!"
"Huh? No way! I'm a trainer!"
"Chirp!"
"I'll think about it."
"Chirp chirp!"
"How could you do this! This is outrageous!"
……
After a "frustrating" exchange, Kyosuke barely managed to subdue Moltres after signing a series of unequal treaties.
Moltres was satisfied and was captured by Kyosuke and put into a heat-resistant ball.
After recalling the Moltres, Kyosuke finally noticed Blaine standing to the side.
"Bob, what's wrong with you! You can't fall down!" Kyosuke shook Bob so hard that Bob's head spun.
"Stop, stop, stop!" Blair couldn't stand this crazy young man any longer and quickly led Kyosuke away from the volcano.
Back at the Crimson Gym, Blaine changed back into his usual clothes and put on a wig. After Kyosuke treated Omastar's injuries, Blaine pulled him aside and asked him a question.
"So how exactly did you defeat Moltres in the end? Did you suddenly unleash your power like Charizard did last time and lend it to Omanyte?" Blaine asked the biggest question.
Kyosuke scratched the back of his head, smiled sheepishly, and said, "Actually, I didn't defeat him in the end. And even with my strength, it wasn't enough."
After all, Articuno seems unaffected even after taking a punch from itself and then being overheated by Charizard.
"As for the reason why we were able to subdue him..." Kyosuke felt a little embarrassed to say it, "The Moltres said..."
"He said?!"
"He said it's because my heat-resistant ball is so comfortable that he doesn't want to leave it."
"So you can understand what Pokémon say?" Blaine missed the point.
"Simple conversations are no problem," Kyosuke nodded.
"Young people these days are really something else..." Xia Bo exclaimed.
"Wait, you mean Moltres was captured because it was too comfortable in the heat-resistant ball?" Blaine finally found the key.
"yes."
"Where did you buy your heat-resistant ball? I ordered some online and even Nine-Tails felt uncomfortable."
"This was specially ordered for Moltres, and it cost five million. And they're not accepting any new orders anymore," Kyosuke said simply.
Five million? This kid is a rich second-generation! He's been freeloading here these past few days, eating, drinking, and staying without paying! It really is true that money can buy anything.
Xia Bo looked at his small guesthouse, which had no business, and decided to give up on thinking about it.
"However, that firebird was quite willful, making a whole bunch of demands, and it threatened to leave if I couldn't meet them."
"What are your requirements?" Blaine was also planning to gather some information, in case he encountered other legendary Pokémon in the future, he might be able to use them to his advantage.
"It's basically like this: he gets regular fresh air every day, he has to eat top-quality food, he has to give you massages, you can't make any requests he doesn't want to make, and if he needs help, you have to tell him in advance, otherwise we'll have to add more clauses..."
Kyosuke had a good memory and took five minutes to finish recounting all the unequal terms, while Blaine also gave up his unrealistic fantasy of subduing the divine beast.
"But luckily I still have money, and I don't want to rely on legendary Pokémon as a shortcut to becoming a Pokémon Master, so raising a few legendary Pokémon shouldn't be a problem," Kyosuke concluded.
"How many more do you want to raise?" Blaine was about to advise the young man to be down-to-earth and not live in a fantasy, but then he remembered that Kyosuke had just tamed a Moltres, and felt a pang of sadness.
"Now that you've obtained your eighth Gym Badge and successfully caught Moltres, you should leave." Blaine gestured for him to go. "You've made my expenses much higher these past few days, and all you do is nag this old man. I can't stand you anymore. Out of sight, out of mind. It's evening, so you should leave now. Don't stay and provoke me any more."
"Stay one more night." Over the past few days, Kyosuke had developed a lot of affection for this interesting old man.
The other party not only shared all his secrets to raising Pokémon, but also took good care of him in other ways. Kyosuke truly respected this old man.
"You can stay, since you like it here so much, why not stay until the tournament starts? Anyway, you've collected all eight badges, so there's no rush. You might as well stay here and grow quickly under my guidance," Blaine suggested, giving Kyosuke a meaningful look. "I can also have more contact with Moltres."
"Your real purpose is the last one, isn't it! Let's go!" With his backpack on, Kyosuke walked out of the Mysterious Lodge without looking back.
As he stepped out the door, Kyosuke stopped.
He turned around, stood quietly, and then called out loudly, "Thank you for your care, Master Xia!"
A deep bow.
Then he truly left.
Inside the room, Xia Bo also heard Kyosuke's voice and wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes: "So you finally admit it? You were so resistant when you heard about becoming my disciple."
I got up and went to the window, looking out at the other side of the sea. That was the land of Kanto.
"It's been so long since I left Cinnabar Island. I should probably go see the Quartz Conference this year."
