Chapter 103 Muda's Invitation: Do you believe in God?
When David uttered the name over the communicator, Shen Fei's eyes turned cold.
The noise on the deck instantly fell silent.
The crew members, who had just been excited about witnessing the amazing sight, could feel the chill emanating from Shen Fei.
He simply felt that the prey had walked right into the line of fire.
"That's interesting."
Shen Fei's voice was very soft.
He acquired Poseidon Industries and became its largest shareholder.
But this was just an acquisition of the company.
The company's board of directors and those old guys are still secretly trying to sideline him.
Now, they are starting to interfere with his most important plans.
"What's the name of that ship? Who's the captain?"
Shen Fei asked.
"The research ship Odyssey is captained by Frank Colson, a close confidant of the former CEO of Poseidon Industries."
David spoke quickly, clearly having done his homework.
"He requested a three-month radio silence, citing extreme weather avoidance and special scientific research needs. I sent them back in the name of the chairman, but received no response."
"They don't recognize me as their new boss."
Shen Fei said.
"Yes, boss. They're probably waiting for the board to kick you out."
"They can't wait any longer."
Shen Fei turned around and walked back to the cabin.
Kyle and Professor Archibald immediately followed.
"Boss, should I bring some people over?"
Kyle asked in a low voice, his tone unfriendly.
"Too slow and too rough."
Shen Fei walked into the command center of the Atlante, which had been turned into his temporary operations room.
He sat down at the control panel and looked at the huge global nautical chart.
"Let's play it a little more politely."
He reconnected with David.
"David, immediately acquire the three largest commercial salvage companies in Bermuda under the name of Shield Risk. Then, announce a historical heritage search plan, offering a reward of one hundred million US dollars, to find the Spanish treasure ship Trinity, which went missing in the 18th century. Set its suspected sinking coordinates within thirty nautical miles of the Odyssey."
David paused for a second on the other end of the phone, then understood.
"I get it, boss! Let those salvage ships that are in it for the money harass them!"
"In addition," Shen Fei added, "have all the ships of those three salvage companies keep their high-powered active sonars running 24 hours a day at the highest frequency, searching around the Odyssey. The reason is to look for metallic reactions."
"This...this will interfere with all their deep-sea exploration equipment! This is blatant harassment!"
David's voice sounded excited.
"I was helping them find something."
Shen Fei said calmly.
Kyle.
He turned to the man behind him, "You'll lead a small squad, piloting the Wings of Poseidon, and stand by near Bermuda. If the Odyssey is forced to move or requests assistance, you'll be the first to arrive."
"Yes, boss!"
"Ivan."
Shenfei switched to another encrypted channel.
"My lord! What new fun is there?"
Ivan sounded excited.
"Abyss Walker, no need to go to the Earth's core. Go to the center of the Bermuda Triangle, 800 meters underwater, and stop there. Your mission is to listen in, and... create some noise on the surface when I need it."
"Yes, Your Majesty! That sounds interesting!"
The three orders were issued within five minutes.
Professor Archibald stood by, listening to all this, forgetting to light his cigar.
He thought he had witnessed something extraordinary, but now he realizes that this is just the beginning.
Bermuda Triangle.
Inside the laboratory of the deep-sea research vessel Odyssey.
A woman wearing a white lab coat, her hair disheveled and piled up at the back of her head, and black-rimmed glasses, was staring intently at the sonar waterfall on the screen.
"Damn it! Here we go again!"
She slammed her fist on the control panel.
"Dr. Evelyn, calm down."
Her assistant, a young doctoral student, handed her a cup of coffee.
"Calm down? How can I calm down!"
Evelyn Reed pointed to the jarring noise on the screen. "These idiots in their crumbling treasure-hunting ships, their sonar has been interfering with us the whole time! I haven't been able to get a single complete stratigraphic scan in the last twelve hours!"
"The captain said that this is international waters and we have no right to interfere with them."
"That idiot Frank! He only listens to the board! He doesn't care about my research at all!"
Evelyn scratched her hair in frustration.
Her project is to test a completely new theory about mantle plume activity.
The Bermuda Triangle is an ideal observation point in her theoretical model.
Poseidon Industries invested over 100 million US dollars in this project.
But now, it's all been destroyed by a group of treasure hunters.
Just then.
The ship jolted violently, as if something enormous had bumped it from below.
"What happened? An earthquake?"
The assistant cried out in surprise.
Evelyn immediately looked at another screen that was monitoring seismic waves.
Above, it's flat.
"It's not an earthquake."
She stared at the instrument as she spoke.
Then came the second and third impacts.
The ship's alarms blared loudly.
"Doctor! Come quick!"
The assistant pointed out the porthole, his voice trembling.
Evelyn rushed to the window.
Two enormous, mountain-like heads rose from the sea on either side of the ship.
They are two adult sperm whales, each over 18 meters long.
They simply surfaced, silently watching the Odyssey with their enormous eyes.
Immediately afterwards, more dark figures emerged from the water.
Five, ten, twenty... a huge pod of sperm whales surrounded the 3,000-ton research vessel.
They do not attack or chirp.
I just watched.
It looks like it's executing a command.
On the bridge, Captain Frank Coulson was deathly pale.
"My God... what's going on? What are they trying to do?"
"Captain, report! The sonic booms from the hull indicate...below them...there's...something even bigger!"
The soprano's voice was choked with sobs.
On the screen, a huge black shadow, over a hundred meters long, was slowly moving under the ship.
Frank grabbed the radio and yelled.
"Mayday! Mayday! This is the Odyssey! We are surrounded by an unknown giant creature! Requesting emergency rescue! Repeat! Requesting emergency rescue!"
His call was made less than thirty seconds later.
A calm voice switched to the channel.
"USS Odyssey, this is the S.H.I.E.L.D. Risk Emergency Response Center. We have received your distress call. A heavy helicopter is approaching your location and is expected to arrive in five minutes. Please clear the deck and prepare for the mission."
Five minutes later.
A jet-black Osprey transport plane hovered directly above the Odyssey.
Kyle descended from the sky with his fully armed squad.
He ignored the panicked crew and went straight to the laboratory.
He pushed open the door and looked at the woman who was still standing by the window, staring intently at the giant beasts outside.
"Dr. Evelyn Reed?"
Evelyn turned around and looked at the special forces soldier who looked like he had stepped out of a movie.
"it's me."
"My boss, Mr. Shen Fei, would like to invite you to Greenland for a cup of coffee."
Kyle's tone was calm.
"Shen Fei?"
Evelyn frowned. "The new owner of Poseidon Industries?"
"Yes."
"Did he bring those whales outside?"
Evelyn asked directly.
Kyle didn't answer, but simply made a "please" gesture.
Evelyn glanced at the silent behemoths outside the window, then at Kyle.
She suddenly laughed.
"Tell your boss that coffee is drinkable."
"But I have one condition."
She walked to her desk and picked up a piece of draft paper covered with complex formulas.
"Let him answer one of my questions first."
"If the gravitational constant G can be locally modified on a macroscopic scale, then what is the critical energy value required to leverage the lunar tidal forces to move the Earth's tectonic plates?"
This question left Kyle, an elite special forces soldier, speechless.
He could only relay this insane question to Shen Fei verbatim through encrypted communication.
Inside the command center of the Atlante.
Shen Fei smiled after hearing Kyle's account.
He knew he had found the right person.
He took the communicator and switched directly to a one-way broadcast to Evelyn.
"Hello, Dr. Reed."
His voice, transmitted clearly through Kyle's tactical headset, reached Evelyn's ears.
"The answer to your question depends on how long your wrench is and where you want to place the fulcrum."
"For example, the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench."
Upon hearing the place name, Evelyn's pupils constricted sharply.
"Now, my plane is waiting for you."
"Come up and talk."
Evelyn stared at Kyle's earpiece, as if she could see through the radio waves and see the person speaking.
She remained silent for a full ten seconds.
Finally, she threw away the draft paper in her hand.
"All right."
"I'm starting to get a little interested in this coffee."
