As mentioned before, the old man burned himself to death while burning the wasteland, and then the whole village had a feast. That's what we're filming now.

This scene was quite challenging; it was a three-minute long take.

Several important characters in the film appear in this long take, and the relationships between them are subtly explained.

Su Jin introduced Yang Mi to Liu Shishi and asked them to rehearse a scene together. Then she walked up to an old woman who was a villager and was now an extra.

"Grandma, sit here, keep your head slightly down, and don't move." Su Jin demonstrated for her.

In the scene, Liu Ye appears driving a Wuling Hongguang minivan.

If you've watched the movie carefully and are a bit of a thinker, you'll understand the shifts from glancing at the person getting off the bus, to glancing at each case of wine being carried, to the absent-mindedness when receiving the money.

Other behaviors along the way, such as fixing his hair, adjusting his clothes, touching his nose, not counting money, and putting his hands in his pockets, all imply that Dazhuang has a crush on Liqin.

The composition features one person standing and the other squatting, indicating that Liqin has no interest in Dazhuang.

"Ah!" Yu Nan looked up and saw Liu Ye, saying, "Here to deliver wine!"

"Okay." Liu Ye nodded, about to speak, when he seemed to suddenly remember something and said, "Oh right, I brought back that face wash you asked for last time. Come pick it up at my shop when you're free!"

The line "There's so much water" here is a double entendre.

Note the line "Xianrenpo" (闲人坡), which foreshadows a dangerous place; Chen Zili fell from there.

The argument between the two here implies that Huang Huan's parents mistakenly believed Wang Baoshan was the murderer, and then grabbed Wang Baoshan and beat him up.

In order to prove that he did not kill Huang Huan, Wang Baoshan brought up his affair with Liqin.

Su Jin appeared on a scooter; he plays Xiao Zongyao.

Liu Shishi saw Su Jin about to speak, but then swallowed her words and walked past him.

Because Zhang Guoli entered the painting with his hands behind his back.

This implies that there is a problem between Huang Huan and Xiao Zongyao. Since they are both young, they must be in a romantic relationship.

The fact that Zhang Guoli appeared and swallowed his words suggests that the two were in a secret relationship.

Funeral music played, and the final shot showed Su Jin watching Huang Huan walk away, ending this three-minute-long sequence.

The writing flows so smoothly because it's necessary for the plot.

Long takes a lot of time, ranging from a day to two or three days.

The actors must rehearse in advance, and there can be no mistakes, not even the smallest flaw. Otherwise, the entire shot will be scrapped, and we'll have to start all over again.

In "The Journey Home", there is a five-minute long take that took two whole days to film.

When Zhang Yimou was filming "Man Jiang Hong", he once thought of shooting the entire film in one continuous shot.
