A journey through immortal realms begins with a phantom tale.
Chapter 53 Leaving Linming Star, Taking a Short Rest During the Journey
Luo Cheng used his Great Teleportation Technique, disappearing from his original spot, with Li Qiang close behind. Both of them were cultivators of divine power, and their speed was extremely fast. In just a short while, they had returned to Linming Star.
"We'll meet at the teleportation array near Qilong City in two days," Luo Cheng said.
"Okay," Li Qiang replied.
During his time at Linming Star, Li Qiang made many friends and even took on disciples, whom he had to say goodbye to one by one before leaving.
Compared to Li Qiang, Luo Cheng didn't know many people in this area, only taking Ning Zhe as his disciple. When he entered the city, the cultivators at the city gate greeted him warmly, their eyes filled with a sense of awe.
Over the years, Ning Zhe's family had long since moved away from the mortal realm. Luo Cheng often visited, occasionally offering Ning Zhe guidance in his cultivation. Just as they reached the door, a little girl of about six years old greeted them, her clear laughter ringing out, "Uncle Luo, did you bring a gift?"
"Here you go." Luo Cheng took out a small trinket he had made himself and handed it over.
This girl was Ning Zhe's parents' youngest daughter, named Ning Xin'er, a name given to her by Luo Cheng. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and relying on her uncle, who was incredibly talented, she was very mischievous and even her parents couldn't control her. However, she was only afraid of her eldest brother, Ning Zhe. Whenever Ning Zhe put on a stern face, she wouldn't dare to utter a sound.
Hearing the noise, Ning Zhe flashed to the doorway and greeted Luo Cheng respectfully, saying, "Greetings, Master."
Looking at his expression, Luo Cheng said helplessly, "Ning Zhe, I told you not to bother with these formalities."
"Master, etiquette must not be disregarded," Ning Zhe insisted.
When Ning Xin'er saw her older brother come out, she hurriedly hid the gift she had just received behind her back and dared not act coquettishly anymore.
Ning Zhe glared at his younger sister: "Little Xin'er, are you asking Master for things again?"
"I didn't!" Ning Xin'er shrank back, her eyes darting around, looking aggrieved.
"Hmph, it's all because that brat Ning Jiangxiang spoiled you." Ning Zhe said in a deep voice.
Born into a humble background, he knew the difficulties of cultivation and had witnessed too many sects destroyed by rebellious disciples and clans ruined by纨绔子弟 (spoiled brats). Therefore, he was extremely strict with his younger siblings. Even with a master of the rank of a celestial immortal, he always reminded himself not to be arrogant or act recklessly.
Luo Cheng was very satisfied with this disciple. After following Ning Zhe into the room, he got straight to the point: "Ning Zhe, your master is about to leave Linming Star."
Ning Zhe's heart skipped a beat. He had known his master would leave, but he hadn't expected it to be so sudden.
"Master, your disciple wishes to follow you and serve you with filial piety."
"You little rascal, I'm not so old that I need someone to wait on me," Luo Cheng said with a laugh.
He couldn't bear to part with his family, even if it meant suffering a great loss. His parents were of average talent, and even with the elixirs Luo Cheng had given them, their cultivation progress was still slow. His younger sister, Ning Xin'er, on the other hand, had good talent for cultivation, but she was too young and immature. He planned to wait until his sister was older before systematically teaching her cultivation.
Luo Cheng took out a small amount of divine items and a bottle of ethereal water, and handed them to Ning Zhe: "This is ethereal water, which can help mortals cleanse their marrow and meridians, purify their spiritual roots, and has no side effects."
Ning Zhe accepted it, his heart filled with excitement, and bowed to express his gratitude: "Thank you, Master."
"These divine items are things that only immortals can use. They are not allowed to be used until one has reached the Mahayana stage."
"Your disciple will remember this."
"Once your cultivation is sufficient, you can come to Fengyuan Star to find me."
"Um!"
"I'm leaving now," Luo Cheng said, turning and walking away.
"Master!" Ning Zhe called out, but Luo Cheng's figure had already disappeared outside the door.
"Fengyuan Star..." He gripped the object in his hand, silently memorizing the name. Once his cultivation level improved further, he would definitely go to Fengyuan Star to find his master.
Two days later, Li Qiang arrived near the teleportation array on time and immediately spotted Luo Cheng.
"Senior brother, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting!"
"It's alright."
The teleportation array was activated, the void passage opened, and the two left Lin Mingxing.
All things considered, Luo Cheng has spent the longest time in Linming Star since he entered the world of cultivation.
Over the years, he and Li Qiang have collected a vast amount of star map information—some from immortals, some from Fengyuan Star, and some from Linming Star. Now, their star charts contain coordinates for most of the cultivation world, so they won't get lost even when traveling through the universe.
The plan for this trip is to first return to Fengyuan Star to refine pills, and then head to the Ancient God's Treasury. However, before that, Luo Cheng intends to first go to Zixing, where the legacy of the Primordial Heavenly Venerable is located.
"Senior brother, what's so special about Zixing?" Li Qiang asked curiously.
"Keep it a secret for now," Luo Cheng said, keeping everyone in suspense.
Li Qiang trusted Luo Cheng completely, and since his senior brother said he would go, he didn't ask any more questions. However, he noticed something amiss from the star map information—the Purple Star was marked as a special area, one that even immortals were unwilling to easily set foot in.
"Senior brother, judging from the information, Purple Star is a place that even immortals avoid."
"What's wrong, Junior Brother? You're afraid to go?"
"If my senior brother dares to do it, why shouldn't I?"
Using the teleportation array required traveling between different planets. After teleporting more than ten times in a row, the two gradually found it tedious.
"Senior brother, there's a green planet ahead. Shall we rest for a bit?" Li Qiang suggested.
"Okay." Luo Cheng also felt a little annoyed.
Using teleportation arrays continuously is also a torment for immortals, and the teleportation speed is not fast, somewhat like taking the subway, which has to stop at every station. If one takes the Starry Sky, one can automatically move by setting the direction.
After two more teleportations, the two finally arrived at the green planet.
"Want to go into town for a stroll?" Li Qiang asked with great interest.
"OK."
The civilization level of this planet is equivalent to the feudal era. Li Qiang scanned the surroundings with his divine sense and smiled, "Senior brother, this place is somewhat similar to the Heavenly Court Star."
"They do look somewhat alike."
The entire planet has only one main continent and a few scattered islands; the rest is mostly ocean, with land accounting for only about 20% of the total area. Perhaps due to its long and narrow shape, the climate is very pleasant, with very few deserts and mostly warm and humid regions.
Perhaps it was this similarity that stirred a sense of nostalgia in Li Qiang. "Senior brother, we're not in a rush. Why don't we rest here for a few days?"
"Okay." Luo Cheng nodded.
Traveling through space can easily take years or even decades, so resting on a planet for a few days or even a few months is nothing unusual.
"Senior brother, I'll go wander around."
"Go."
Li Qiang's figure flashed, and he used teleportation to leave. When he first entered the cultivation world, his first stop was Tianting Star. Although this planet was not his old home, it stirred up his memories—he thought of Niu Niu, Da Hei Zi, and the Crown Prince of the Later Song Dynasty. He pondered to himself, wondering when he could return to Tianting Star again. Counting the days, it had been decades since his last visit.
Luo Cheng walked a short distance and saw a dozen burly men surrounding two beggars. One beggar was old, the other young. The young man, seeing him approach, immediately shouted, "Help!"
Luo Cheng found it amusing. Although the beggar was ragged, the boy's eyes were bright, and the old beggar, though seemingly nervous, was actually calm and composed. With his keen eyesight, he could tell at a glance that the old beggar possessed rudimentary martial arts skills, more than enough to deal with these burly men.
This scene is somewhat similar to when Li Qiang first arrived at Tianting Star—back then, the ones who robbed him were Niu Niu and Da Hei Zi.
The bandits stopped attacking when they saw Luo Cheng approaching. Luo Cheng was wearing the everyday clothes of a cultivator from the Linming Star Sect, which appeared extremely luxurious to ordinary people.
The leader of the bandits said in a deep voice, "Brother, this matter has nothing to do with you, so it's best not to get involved."
Before Luo Cheng could speak, the young beggar cried out urgently, "Brother, I am the heir of the Prince of Zhenbei! You saved me, and I will repay you handsomely!"
"So it was you." Only then did the bandits confirm his identity.
The bandit leader then said to Luo Cheng, "Brother, we are members of the Immortal Sect."
Luo Cheng secretly grumbled to himself, "How did the immortal sects get involved with the mortal world?"
The prince quickly said, "Brother, if you save me, I will let you enjoy all the riches and honors of the world!"
"Oh?" Luo Cheng responded casually, "Saving you isn't out of the question, but I have a hobby: I like listening to music."
"Brother, we share the same interests! When I return to my fiefdom, I'll take you to hear the best music!" the prince quickly replied.
"Deal." Luo Cheng turned to the group of bandits. "Are you leaving on your own, or shall I escort you?"
"Go! Arrest them all!" the bandit leader roared.
"Sigh, why bother?" Luo Cheng sighed feignedly and waved his hand casually.
The dozen or so bandits were seen flying into the sky like kites with broken strings.
"No! Help!" Screams rose and fell.
Upon seeing this, the old beggar's expression froze. The young prince, however, widened his eyes and exclaimed, "Are you an immortal?"
There are also cultivators on this planet, but they are extremely rare. Mortals call cultivators "immortals".
Luo Cheng laughed and said, "The person has already been driven away. Lead the way to listen to the music."
"Yes, yes!" the prince quickly replied, then asked curiously, "They... won't die, will they?"
He shouldn't die.
"My home is just ahead, about two hundred li away," the prince pointed in a direction.
Luo Cheng activated his divine eye and glanced around, seeing a bustling city with approximately one million inhabitants. On this planet, a city with a million people was already considered large; after all, without technological assistance, supporting so many people was no easy feat.
He waved his hand, using his divine power to protect the two, and then cast a teleportation spell. With one step, the three of them were already standing at the gate of Jiangbei City.
The prince was now completely certain that he had encountered a celestial being. Suppressing his curiosity and excitement, he strode toward the palace, saying, "Celestial being, I'll go back and take a bath and change my clothes first, and then I'll show you around."
"OK."
Soon, the three arrived at the Prince of Zhenbei's mansion. The mansion was magnificent, with four guards standing at the gate. Upon seeing the young prince rushing over, they immediately stepped forward to stop him.
The prince roared, "Open your dog eyes and see who I am!"
Upon recognizing the face, the guard hurriedly knelt down, saying, "Greetings, Your Highness!"
"Rise," the prince waved his hand, then added, "This is an immortal; treat him well."
The moment the words "Immortal" were uttered, the guards' expressions immediately hardened.
Luo Cheng followed the prince into the mansion, passing through several long corridors to arrive at the prince's private courtyard. Several maids, seeing the prince return, hurriedly stepped forward to greet him: "Prince, you have suffered."
"Hmm." The prince responded indifferently, pointing at Luo Cheng and saying, "This is an immortal, you all serve him well."
As soon as he finished speaking, several beautiful women surrounded him, their fragrance wafting towards him.
