Chapter 114 The Innocent Yet Alluring Little Cat Demon 21

Upon hearing this, Liu Yunshu turned around and saw a car speeding towards her.

Mo Chengyan's pupils contracted sharply, his mind went almost blank, and he rushed forward on instinct, only managing to push her away.

The next second, he was violently hit by the car and sent flying.

"Bang—" A dull thud echoed through the street, and Mo Chengyan's body flew out like a kite with a broken string.

It slammed heavily against the roadside guardrail, and the white shirt was instantly soaked with blood.

Liu Yunshu's pupils contracted sharply. She staggered forward, her voice trembling as her fingertips touched his warm blood: "Mo Chengyan! How are you? Don't scare me!"

Mo Chengyan lay on the ground, his consciousness fading as he reached out to touch her face, a weak smile tugging at the corner of his lips: "Yun Shu... don't be afraid, I'm alright..."

Before he could finish speaking, everything went black, and he completely fainted.

"Xiao Ba! How is he doing?" Liu Yunshu anxiously called out to Xiao Ba in her mind.

"Sir, Mo Chengyan currently has a moderate concussion, a fractured right rib, and an open wound on his leg. He has lost a lot of blood, but his life is not in danger for the time being!"

Xiao Ba's mechanical voice unusually became urgent, "But we must get him to the hospital as soon as possible, any delay could lead to infection or shock!"

Liu Yun breathed a sigh of relief and immediately took out her phone to dial the emergency number.

"Hey! There's been a car accident at the east gate intersection of the cultural and creative park. Someone was hit by a car and is bleeding a lot!"

Liu Yunshu's voice was still trembling, but her fingers gripped her phone tightly. She spoke rapidly, giving the address as if afraid of wasting a second, "Hurry up! He's already passed out!"

After hanging up the phone, she stayed by Mo Chengyan's side.

At that moment, Mo Chengyuan hung up the phone and ran over.

"Yun Shu, what happened! Are you alright?!"

Liu Yunshu suddenly looked up, her eyes already red with tears from her anxiety, her voice trembling with sobs but forcing herself to be clear.

"Ah Yuan! A car suddenly went out of control and crashed into me. Ah Yan got hit while trying to save me. I've already called for an ambulance."

She wanted to throw herself into Mo Chengyuan's arms, trembling as she hugged him, "A-Yuan, A-Yan will be alright, right?"

Mo Chengyuan patted her back reassuringly, "Yes, Yun Shu, you did a great job. Don't be afraid, this kid is tough."

Even so, when Mo Chengyuan's gaze fell on Mo Chengyan's blood-stained white shirt, his fingertips still trembled uncontrollably.

He wrapped his coat tightly around Liu Yunshu's trembling shoulders while crouching down to check Mo Chengyan's breathing.

When my fingertips touched the other person's faint but still present breath, my heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down a little.

Yet, a strange, indescribable bitterness lingered in his throat; this was his only younger brother.

The siren of an ambulance pierced the noise of the street as paramedics rushed over with a stretcher and lifted the person into the vehicle.

Mo Chengyuan and Liu Yunshu also got into the car. The medical staff quickly connected him to an electrocardiogram monitor and oxygen, and immediately established an intravenous line.

The lights inside the ambulance were cold and glaring, and the electrocardiogram monitor emitted a regular "beep" sound, each beep like a hammer blow to the hearts of the two people inside.

Liu Yunshu gripped Mo Chengyuan's hand tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force, her gaze fixed on Mo Chengyan's pale, paper-like face.

Tears still streamed down her face, landing on the back of Mo Chengyuan's hand, burning hot.

Mo Chengyuan gently placed his other hand on the back of her hand, the warmth of his palm trying to convey some reassurance, but his own fingertips were trembling slightly.

He looked at the faint rise and fall of his younger brother's chest on the stretcher, and recalled the scenes of the two of them arguing and fighting over things when they were young. The bitterness in his throat intensified.

I used to think this kid was noisy and annoying, but now I only have one thought: I hope nothing bad happens to him.

Medical staff are performing initial hemostasis on Mo Chengyan, and the blood-stained gauze has been changed one after another.

Liu Yunshu's heart clenched, her voice choked with sobs, "Doctor, what if he...?"

"His vital signs are currently stable, but he has lost a lot of blood, so we'll have to wait for the results of further tests."

The doctor spoke rapidly while his hands never stopped moving. "Family members, don't panic. Staying calm is essential for cooperating with the subsequent treatment."

Mo Chengyuan took a deep breath, gripped Liu Yunshu's hand, and interrupted her panic with a calm tone: "Don't think too much, we'll be fine once we get to the hospital."

He looked at Mo Chengyan with a complicated expression. This time, he owed this kid something.

As soon as the ambulance came to a stop in front of the hospital's emergency building, the medical staff who had been waiting immediately stepped forward and pushed the stretcher toward the resuscitation room.

Mo Chengyuan supported Liu Yunshu, whose legs were weak, and followed behind, watching the door of the emergency room slam shut.

The red "Rescue in Progress" indicator light illuminated, isolating the two people on the bench outside the door.

Liu Yunshu leaned on Mo Chengyuan's shoulder, tears still streaming down her face: "It's all my fault. If I hadn't wandered off..."

"It's not your fault." Mo Chengyuan interrupted her, gently stroking her hair with his fingertips, his tone more tender than ever before. "It was the car's fault, and it was also because I didn't keep a close eye on you."

He paused, looked at the door of the emergency room, and said in a low voice, "When he wakes up, I'll thank him in person."

After an unknown amount of time, only the ticking of a clock remained in the corridor of the emergency building, and finally the red light went out with a "click".

The doctor pushed open the door and came out, taking off his mask. His tone was somewhat relieved: "The surgery was very successful. The intracranial hemorrhage has been brought under control, and he is temporarily out of danger. However, he will need to be observed in the ICU for two days, and will be transferred to a regular ward once his vital signs stabilize."

"Thank you, doctor! Thank you!"

Liu Yunshu suddenly stood up, her voice still a little hoarse but unable to hide her excitement, grabbing Mo Chengyuan's arm and asking, "When will he wake up?"

The doctor rubbed his temples, his tone softening slightly: "It depends on his own recovery. He usually wakes up within 24 to 48 hours, but individual differences can't be ruled out. You don't need to stay here indefinitely; family members aren't allowed in the ICU. Go back and rest for a while, and come back tomorrow morning to inquire about his condition."

Mo Chengyuan nodded to the doctor: "Thank you for your help. Please contact us immediately if there are any issues."

The next morning, as soon as the two arrived at the hospital, the nurses told them that Mo Chengyan had woken up.

Liu Yunshu saw the person on the hospital bed with their eyes open through the glass, and her eyes instantly reddened again.

Mo Chengyan was wearing a breathing mask, and his face was still pale, but when he saw her, he struggled to raise a finger and managed a weak smile.

Liu Yunshu waved to him with red eyes, and Mo Chengyuan went to his attending physician to inquire about his condition.

When Mo Chengyuan returned from the doctor's office, Liu Yunshu immediately went to greet him, "What did the doctor say? How is Ayan?"

"You're recovering faster than expected," Mo Chengyuan said, handing her a bottle of warm milk and wiping away the tear tracks under her eyes with his fingertips. "You can be transferred to a regular ward tomorrow."

He paused, his gaze falling on the person lying on the hospital bed.

"Let's go in and take a look," Mo Chengyuan said, taking her hand and leading her towards the visiting corridor. "The nurse said we can stay there for a while."

As soon as Liu Yunshu reached the bedside, Mo Chengyan turned his head, his eyes shining as if they held stars. Although he couldn't speak yet, he gently tugged at the hem of her clothes with his left hand, which was free of needles.

Liu Yunshu immediately squatted down, her voice extremely soft: "I'm here. How are you feeling? Does it hurt?"

Mo Chengyan blinked, slowly shook his head, pointed to her face, and then to his own chest, as if to say, "Don't worry, I'm fine."

Mo Chengyuan stood behind him, watching his younger brother's unusually well-behaved appearance, and his throat moved.

Finally, she stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder: "Take good care of yourself. I'll repay you when you're better."

Mo Chengyan's eyes widened instantly, as if he hadn't expected his brother, who was always at odds with him, to say such a thing. He then raised an eyebrow and mouthed silently, "Then don't try to renege."

When it was time, the nurse came in to remind them that it was time to leave.

Liu Yunshu stood up and tucked the blanket around Mo Chengyan: "I'll come see you again tomorrow. You must get some rest."

Mo Chengyan nodded and watched the two walk out of the ICU. He slowly closed his eyes only after they were out of sight, but a smile still lingered on his lips.

This time, it seems that it wasn't just him who saved her; the tension between them finally eased.

When Mo Chengyan was transferred back to a regular ward, the sunlight was streaming through the glass window and onto the bedside, making him feel sleepy.

He had just been settled in by the nurse when he saw Liu Yunshu carrying a thermos and walking in quickly, followed by Mo Chengyuan carrying a fruit basket.

"How are you feeling? The doctor said you can have some porridge today."

Liu Yunshu put down the thermos and gently touched the back of his hand that wasn't receiving an IV drip; her fingertips were slightly cool from coming in from outside.

Mo Chengyan blinked, and was about to speak when he was choked by the dryness in his throat and coughed twice.

Upon seeing this, Mo Chengyuan immediately picked up a bottle of warm water from the bedside table, unscrewed the cap, and held it to his lips.

"Drink slowly, no one's going to take it from you."

Mo Chengyuan's voice was lower than usual, and his gaze fell on his pale face with a hint of barely perceptible concern.

Mo Chengyan tilted his head back and took two sips, and the burning sensation in his throat eased slightly.

Looking at her unusually "docile" older brother, she suddenly curled the corners of her mouth and said, "Brother, with your attitude, I thought I was almost cured."

Before he could finish speaking, Liu Yunshu gently tapped the back of his hand: "Stop being silly, the doctor said you still need to rest for another half month."

She opened the thermos and ladled out a bowl of millet porridge.

"I cooked this especially this morning. Try it and see if it suits your taste." She said, picking up a spoon, scooping up a spoonful, blowing on it, and holding it to his lips.

Mo Chengyan obediently opened his mouth, and the warm porridge slid into his stomach, warming his eyes until they felt slightly hot.
