Chapter 20 I won't be mean to you anymore, you silly goose.
Wei Xun pushed open the door to the presidential suite, where Nan Yan's white sneakers were placed.
It seems that Nan Yan stayed indoors and did not go out.
Wei Xun changed into slippers and walked in. There was no one in the living room, and the desserts on the table were left untouched.
"Nan Yan?" Wei Xun called out, but no one responded.
He walked to the door of the second bedroom and gently pushed it open.
The room was dark, with the curtains drawn tightly.
Wei Xun frowned, his gaze sweeping across the room before finally settling on the bathroom door.
The bathroom door was also closed, and faint sobbing could be heard coming from inside.
He walked over and gently knocked on the door: "Nan Yan? Are you in there?"
The sobbing stopped.
Wei Xun pushed open the door. The bathroom was dark, and the glass door to the shower room was closed, with only a faint light shining through.
He turned on the light, walked over, opened the glass door, and saw Nan Yan huddled in the corner of the shower room, hugging her knees, her shoulders shaking with sobs.
"What's wrong?" Wei Xun squatted down, his voice softening.
Upon hearing his voice, Nan Yan suddenly grabbed Wei Xun's collar, her eyes filled with fear and despair.
His voice choked with emotion: "Sir, I will never do it again, please forgive me... I beg you..."
Wei Xun was taken aback: "What do I forgive you for?"
Nan Yan looked at him with teary eyes: "I...I shouldn't have...I shouldn't have touched you with my mouth this morning..."
Wei Xun then realized that he was referring to the coffee foam he had licked off his lips that morning.
Wei Xun sighed and gently patted his back: "I'm sorry, I was too fierce this morning and scared you."
"You..." Nan Yan was stunned.
In the past, if they did something wrong in the club, they would always be whipped, confined, starved, or subjected to even worse punishments. No one would ever apologize to them.
He thought Wei Xun would lose his temper like that man, and even throw him back, but he didn't expect Wei Xun to apologize to him instead.
"Hmm." Wei Xun's gaze fell towards the living room. "I noticed you didn't eat the desserts on the table outside. Did you not like them?"
Nan Yan whispered, "No, I... I dare not eat it."
"After I left, you just stayed here?" Wei Xun asked.
Nan Yan nodded again, tears welling up in her eyes once more: "I've made you angry, I'm afraid you won't want me anymore."
Wei Xun felt a mix of emotions. He pulled Nan Yan's arm and made him stand up: "Silly girl, what are you thinking? How could I not want you?"
"Besides... I'm not angry," Wei Xun said helplessly. "I'm just... a little taken aback and didn't react in time. Anyway, don't kiss me so casually in the future... understand?"
"Yes, sir," Nan Yan replied obediently, then looked up, asking in a daze, "Then... if I want to kiss you in the future, I need to get your permission first, right?"
Wei Xun almost laughed out of anger: "You want to kiss me? That's unbelievable."
Nan Yan looked at him, her eyes full of confusion: "Sir, do I need to kiss you? If you like, I can kiss you anywhere..."
"No need!" Wei Xun immediately interrupted him, his cheeks flushed slightly, and quickly changed the subject: "Hurry up and get dressed, I'll take you to lunch!"
After saying that, he took the lead and walked out of the bathroom, afraid that if he said another word, he would be even more embarrassed.
He walked into the living room, took out a cigarette case from his pocket, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag.
Amidst the swirling smoke, his emotions gradually calmed down.
He knew he was powerless to shake the deeply entrenched power of the Thorn Rose Club, and he might not be able to find a way to remove the chip or alleviate the drug's side effects.
...But at least, he can take good care of the boy in front of him.
Not long after, Nan Yan came out of the second bedroom.
He changed into a light gray hooded sweatshirt and casual pants, clothes that Qinglin had given him.
The sweatshirt was very soft, which made his skin look even whiter and his eyebrows and eyes even more delicate.
Wei Xun inwardly admired Qing Lin's taste; she really knew how to pick clothes.
"Sir, I'm ready." Nan Yan stood in the center of the living room, her hands clasped in front of her, looking somewhat reserved.
Wei Xun stubbed out his cigarette and stood up: "Let's go have lunch."
The hotel's fourth floor houses a high-end restaurant with an elegant ambiance.
As the two entered, a waiter immediately greeted them with a respectful smile: "Mr. Wei, hello, this way please."
Nan Yan followed behind Wei Xun, looking at the exquisite decorations and well-dressed people around her, her eyes filled with unease, and she subconsciously moved closer to Wei Xun.
Wei Xun noticed his nervousness and reached out to ruffle his hair: "Don't be nervous, don't be afraid, I'm here. Tell me what you're afraid of."
Nan Yan nodded.
The waiter led them to a window seat and handed them two menus.
Wei Xun opened the menu and casually said, "Take a look and see what you want to eat, order whatever you like."
Nan Yan took the menu and frowned slightly as she looked at the dense text on it.
He didn't know many characters, so he could only look at them one by one.
"Black Pine Rain Before..." Nan Yan muttered softly, mispronouncing many words and skipping over some she didn't recognize: "French snails... fragrant caviar..."
Seeing his stumbling and hesitant manner, Wei Xun realized that he knew very few characters.
A strange look flashed across the face of the waiter next to him. Although he quickly covered it up, Wei Xun still caught it.
He coughed lightly, took the menu from Nan Yan, and handed it back to the waiter: "I'll order."
He skillfully ordered several dishes, plus a dessert and a cup of hot milk.
After noting it down, the waiter respectfully withdrew.
"You never went to school?" Wei Xun asked.
Nan Yan shook her head: "No."
"You said you could do arithmetic, who taught you that?"
"Trainer," Nan Yan said in a low voice.
"What is a trainer? Is it a teacher?"
Nan Yan paused for a moment, then said, "...More or less."
"There are teachers in the club?" Wei Xun was somewhat surprised.
"A lot," Nan Yan said.
"What subjects do you teach?" Wei Xun asked casually.
Nan Yan's cheeks flushed instantly. He subconsciously looked around and saw people eating and chatting at the next table, their voices not loud.
He lowered his head and said softly, "Sir, may I... say it here?"
Wei Xun looked at his flushed cheeks and evasive eyes, and instantly understood.
Those so-called "subjects" are definitely not any proper knowledge, but rather some obscene things that the club teaches them in order to please the guests.
He quickly waved his hand, "No need, don't say anymore."
After saying that, he picked up the water glass on the table and took a few big gulps to cover up his embarrassment.
