Chapter 67 The Clues Will Appear on Their Own

On a quiet street.

When Kristin arrived, he only saw a pool of blood that had not yet congealed.

He clenched his fist: "Too late again."

Luo Ya stepped forward, squatted down, dipped his finger in the liquid on the ground, and rubbed it between his fingertips.

"The blood was still warm; the person had just died."

Ketinso looked somewhat impatient.

This is something you can figure out even with a brain.

From the moment they heard the screams to the moment the two of them rushed over, the entire process took less than ten minutes.

The person who died must have just died.

Ignoring Ketinso, Roya suddenly turned his head and looked toward a dark corner on the other side of the street.

"Who's there! Come out!"

Kertinso followed Roya's gaze and saw nothing but a shadow.

Luo Ya remained motionless, staring at that spot.

A moment later, a burly villager emerged from the shadows, his body trembling slightly, his face filled with terror.

Roya's memory isn't top-notch, but he holds grudges.

This burly man, carrying a pitchfork during the day, vehemently accused Roya of lying.

Kertinso immediately raised his hand, his gloved hand with a cross pattern, and aimed it at the burly man in front of him.

Why are you here!?

The burly man forced a smile that looked more like a grimace.

"My home—my home is nearby."

Luo Ya sized up the burly man in front of him.

"You live around here, so you must have seen something from that commotion just now, right?"

The burly man didn't even look at Roya; instead, he took a step back, his wariness of Roya showing no sign of diminishing.

Seeing this, Ketinso had no choice but to speak up himself.

"What did you see? Tell me everything you know."

The burly man's body trembled again.

"I saw a round thing, like a mechanical monster, covered in weapons."

Kertinso immediately pressed, "Which way did it go?"

The burly man raised his trembling hand and pointed to the night sky.

"It—it flew away. I didn't dare look any longer; that thing was too scary."

Kertinso sighed. It was true that ordinary people would be traumatized if they looked directly at a demon.

The burly man's voice trembled with tears: "I—can I leave now? I'm a little worried about my child; he's home alone."

Kristin observed the burly man's condition; the man's fear did not seem fake, and he did not exude any demonic aura.

He nodded and stopped making things difficult for the poor villager.

The burly man felt as if he had been granted a pardon. He turned and ran, staggering, and soon disappeared at the end of the street.

Luo Ya watched the direction the burly man left in, his face bearing an inscrutable expression.

He looked at Kristinso.

"So, shall we go back now?"

Kertinso shook his head, squatted down, and began to carefully examine the bloodstains on the ground and the surrounding environment.

"No, I need to look for clues here. I can't let any trace slip by."

Luo Ya stretched and yawned widely.

"Then take your time looking. I'm sleepy and going back to sleep."

Kertinso immediately stood up; he didn't want to let Roya, the suspect, out of his sight.

Luo Ya raised an eyebrow at him.

Ketinso didn't quite understand what Roya's look meant.

He hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"Alright, then you go back and rest first. Remember, don't leave the hotel."

Luo Ya nodded and said nothing more.

He turned and walked towards the hotel at a moderate pace.

Once his figure had completely disappeared around the street corner and Kertinso was no longer in sight, Roya abruptly stopped in his tracks.

He changed direction, his body disappearing into the shadows of the alley.

With the activation of his Nen ability "Zetsu," Roja completely concealed his own aura and moved rapidly across the town's intricate rooftops.

A familiar figure soon came into his field of vision.

It was the same burly man who had claimed he was going home to see his children.

The burly man didn't go straight home. Instead, he cautiously peeked out from a secluded corner, observing Kertinso, who was still searching for clues at the crime scene.

Luo Ya landed silently on the rooftop not far behind the burly man.

The other party was completely unaware.

After observing for a long time and confirming that Kertinso wouldn't leave anytime soon, the burly man breathed a sigh of relief and began to move in another direction.

Luo Ya followed behind at a leisurely pace.

The burly man finally stopped in front of a rather dilapidated wooden house.

The house is located on the edge of town, and the family appears to be very poor.

The windows of the house were completely dark, with no light shining through.

The burly man stood at the door. He didn't go in immediately, but stood there, taking several deep breaths, as if he was afraid of something.

Finally, he pushed open the door and went inside.

The door slowly closed.

"As expected, there's something fishy going on."

Roya jumped off the roof.

Without the slightest hesitation, he raised his leg and kicked the wooden door with all his might.

"Bang!"

A loud bang.

The fragile wooden door was smashed to pieces by his kick.

"Check the water meter!"

Behind the broken door frame lies the interior of the house.

Dim moonlight shone through the kicked-open door, barely outlining the interior.

The burly man stood not far from the doorway. Behind him, a little girl peeked out, looking timidly at the entrance.

The burly man's face was so dark it seemed to drip water, and he stared intently at Roya.

Why are you here!?

Roya stepped inside, his feet crunching on the broken wood chips.

"You said you were leaving, but you ended up hiding around observing. I'm naturally curious, what are you doing all this secretive?"

The burly man completely shielded the little girl behind him, using his own body to block her.

"What do you want, you monster! I will never let you hurt my daughter!"

"Who exactly is the devil?"

Luo Ya tilted his head, his gaze passing over the burly man and landing on the little girl.

The little girl's face remained expressionless throughout, her eyes vacant.

The burly man fell silent.

His eyes began to change, and countless blood vessels burst out from the whites of his eyes. He lowered his voice and asked in a tone of confirmation.

"Did you come alone?"

"That's right."

Roya readily admitted it.

"Actually, the real demon is your daughter, isn't she? The people who disappeared in town are all her food." And you, in order to protect her, to ensure her continued existence, so resolutely insisted on pinning the demon's identity on me in front of the mayor during the day.

"You just need a scapegoat to divert the exorcist's attention from you and your daughter."

.

The burly man didn't refute; he just kept repeating the same sentence, his voice growing louder and more frantic.

"You're all alone!!"

"You shouldn't have come alone!"

The moment he finished speaking, the little girl behind him began to change.
