The Walking Dead: Starting as a Cowboy

Chapter 179 The Untraceable Killer

Chapter 179 The Untraceable Killer

A small building in Woodbury.

The first floor of the small building was unoccupied, and only one room on the second floor was occupied, with the bed creaking loudly.

The house is quite spacious, which is more than enough for just two people, and does not conform to Woodbury's housing allocation principles.

Unfortunately, the person living there was a key member of the governor's staff, and the people who allocated the housing wouldn't be so oblivious as to cause him trouble.

In addition, the governor would grant them certain privileges when they went out to plunder resources, such as taking some items from the supplies they had looted.

This can motivate his men to go out and plunder even more enthusiastically.

With the governor's two key generals, Shumpert and Martinez, both dead, these core members became the governor's main controllers overseeing all his subordinates.

Carroll naturally set his sights on these key members as well.

Andrea provided the list, and Carol was in charge of carrying it out.

Carroll moved nimbly, slipping quietly into the house like a kitten and carefully closing the door behind her.

Upon entering the room, moonlight streamed through the glass and shone onto the floor.

Carroll strode across the living room, strolling leisurely downstairs like the owner of the house.

I walked into the kitchen and glanced at the tableware. It was spotless and showed no signs of cooking.

Carol pursed her lips, opened the cupboard, and her eyes lit up.

Carole saw several beautiful pieces of tableware, smiled, took them out and put them in her backpack, then closed the cabinet door.

After leaving the kitchen, they didn't find anything else on the first floor.

Carol put her bag on the sofa, pulled a silent pistol from her waist, and walked briskly up the stairs, humming a lullaby she used to sing to Sophia when she was little.

Once we reached the second floor, the decadent music had already stopped.

The door to the room was ajar, and through the crack, Carol glanced inside.

Two naked bodies lay on the bed, one prone and the other supine, whispering something to each other.

Carol had no interest in what they were saying. She gently pushed open the door and stepped inside.

The man lying face down was startled by the sound of the door being pushed open, and he grabbed at the bedside table.

嘟—

A muffled gunshot rang out, the bullet striking the pistol on the bedside table. The man's hand froze in mid-air, trembling slightly.

Carol smiled slightly, raised the muzzle of her gun, and said gently, "Please don't do that."

Before long, cold sweat broke out on the man's forehead. He smiled and retreated, reaching for the blanket to cover himself.

The woman lay frozen on the bed, staring blankly at Carol and the man. "This—this is your—old flame?"

The man's expression froze. He looked at the woman in disbelief. "Are you crazy? Apologize right now."

Carol shrugged. "I accept your apology."

He raised his hand and fired a shot, the bullet hitting the woman precisely between the eyebrows. She collapsed at the head of the bed, blood flowing down the bedside table.

The man's eyes widened, his pupils trembling. After a moment, he spoke, "You won't let me go, will you?"

"Of course," Carol said matter-of-factly.

Before the man could say anything more, Carol fired again, and the man fell onto the bed, the bed gradually stained red.

Carroll tucked the pistol back into his waistband, hummed a song again, and picked up a dagger from the side.

With her left hand, she grabbed the man's sparse hair, and with her right hand, she forcefully slashed at his neck.

As soon as the needle pierced through, blood gushed out, instantly staining the wall at the head of the bed red.

Cutting a neck with a dagger is still quite troublesome. It took Carol a long time to get it off, and by the time she got back to her house, she was exhausted and her whole body was limp.

Early the next morning.

A piercing scream echoed through Woodbury, and panic spread like a plague.

Andrea hurried toward the gathered crowd and squeezed her way in with difficulty.

"What happened?"

Next to me was an elderly woman, obese, with tears streaming down her face and her hands trembling.

"I saw his door was open this morning and there was blood on the ground, so I went in to take a look."

"I followed the bloodstains inside and went up to the second floor."

As she spoke, the old woman's body began to tremble, as if she had witnessed some terrifying scene.

"I saw one, a human head."

The old woman cried out in fear, and a shadow seemed to fall over the faces of those around her.

Andrea frowned, pressed her hands down, and shouted loudly, "Quiet, quiet!"

"I will definitely investigate this matter thoroughly and find out the truth. Everyone, please don't panic, don't gather together, and go home."

"I will give everyone an explanation. Please be patient and disperse."

Only after Andrea's repeated assurances did the crowd disperse.

With such a commotion, the governor's men naturally came over as well.

Andrea looked at one of them, "Go and inform the governor immediately, tell him what happened."

The man immediately took off running and hurried to find the governor.

Andrea then turned around and slowly walked into the small building.

The lights were off in the small building. In the dimly lit room, there was only a long trail of blood connecting the doorway and the stairs.

Andrea narrowed her eyes.

Carol did something quite terrifying.

Andrea followed the trail of blood and went up the stairs.

The door was ajar, and bloodstains extended inside.

With their view obstructed, they could only make out the outlines of the people covered up on the bed; they must have been the two dead men.

Although Andrea had mentally prepared herself, she still took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself down.

She gently pushed open the door, and with a bang, a human head flew towards her like a flying headdress, startling Andrea so much that she jumped back.

I stepped back several steps, and the head swayed back and forth in mid-air.

Andrea breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the ropes on the man's head, cursing inwardly.

Carol, you son of a bitch.

After cursing a few times, Andrea pushed the person aside and entered the room.

Pulling back the blanket, inside were those two dead bodies.

Andrea looked around, then pulled the blanket over herself again.

After restoring the head to its original position, Andrea went downstairs.

As Andrea left the small building, she saw the subordinate who had gone to find the governor return.

Andrea looked left and right, but couldn't see the governor anywhere.

"Where is the governor?"

The subordinate scratched his head and replied awkwardly, "The governor said that you are fully responsible for this matter."

Andrea raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised but also understanding, and nodded: "Okay, I understand. Find a few people to carry the bodies out and bury them. I'll bring a priest to preside over the funeral this afternoon."

After giving instructions to her subordinates, Andrea left the small building.

In Milton's laboratory, Milton looked helplessly at the governor, who was leisurely listening to music in a chair.

"Your men are all dead, aren't you going to go and see them?"

The governor closed his eyes and followed the rhythm of the music, his fingers bending and swaying.

After waiting for a while, just when Milton was about to give up and the governor was no longer expecting an answer, the governor said, "Because the murderer cannot be found."
