The Walking Dead: Starting as a Cowboy

Chapter 113 I Haven't Done Any Bad Things

Caesar nodded and continued walking inside.

At the end of the corridor was a door, which Caesar pushed open and entered.

Inside was a dark basement, with no candles in sight.

Caesar turned on his flashlight and looked down. Below was an iron gate, half-closed, from which he could hear the sounds of fighting inside.

"Walk!"

Caesar rushed down and pushed open the iron gate.

The room was brightly lit, with cylindrical wine barrels placed around it and an oval table in the center.

Rick, Morgan, and the others stood by watching. Maggie's clothes were disheveled, her eyes were red from crying, and she was sobbing while covering her upper body.

Glenn was fighting with a tall, bald black man, and the two fell to the ground.

Glenn, above, swung his fist and slammed it down on the bald man.

Baldy wasn't like Toby with his hands and feet tied; he dodged, grabbed Glenn's shoulder, and pulled him sharply to one side.

The situation changed, and the bald man gained the upper hand, using elbows and knees to strike Glenn with gritted teeth.

Glenn was beaten black and blue, and he clasped his hands together to defend his head.

Caesar immediately understood the situation and shook his head: "You've really lost your mind."

Caesar strode forward, picked up a chair leg from the ground, and struck the bald man on the back of the head.

The bald man immediately collapsed to the ground, staring blankly at the ceiling, his eyes glazed over.

Caesar didn't even glance at the bald man, but stared sharply at Glenn, his eyes filled with disappointment.

Glenn dared not look at Caesar, his head bowed, the bruises on his face making him look utterly forlorn.

Caesar remained silent, knowing that this was Glenn's unresolved issue—feeling that he hadn't protected Maggie well.

He dropped the chair leg he was holding, drew his pistol, and intended to execute the bald man.

"Wait a minute." Maggie's eyes were still brimming with tears. She looked up at Caesar, and a single tear rolled down her cheek.

Maggie clutched her shirt, took two steps forward, and glared angrily at the bald man. "Can I kill him?"

Caesar took off his coat and handed it to Maggie along with his pistol.

Maggie glanced gratefully at Caesar and casually draped her coat over herself.

With the safety off, Maggie stepped closer, her eyes filled with resentment, and pointed the gun at the bald man on the ground, who was still suffering from a concussion.

"Go to hell, you bastard!"

boom--

After the gunshot, the bald man died.

Caesar took a deep breath and instructed Rick and the others, "Take your captain with you, let's grab the stuff and head back to the farm."

"By the way, where are Patricia and the others?"

Caesar looked around but did not see Patricia or Otis.

"I know where they are. I'll lead the way." Maggie pursed her lips, gave Glenn a resentful glance, and turned to walk up the stairs.

……

As dawn broke, before the sun rose, the horizon was a deep blue.

Several sturdy off-road vehicles, fully loaded with grain, arrived at the farm, which was now nothing but ruins.

Beth sat there all night, and in a daze, she saw her sister Maggie running towards her.

The two sisters hugged each other and wept bitterly.

Hershel staggered as he embraced his most precious possessions, his two daughters, tears streaming down his face, overjoyed that his family was safe.

Otis and Patricia joined them in a hug.

Caesar and the others hadn't rested since yesterday, so they found a place to sleep and immediately fell asleep.

It wasn't until the afternoon, when the sun became hot, that Caesar got up.

After a quick wash, Caesar ate something and was about to have a chat with Herschel.

He saw Herschel walking towards him. Herschel was in much better condition and looked to be in good spirits.

Herschel smiled and hugged Caesar, saying sincerely, "Thank you, Caesar. I am truly grateful for everything you have done for my family!"

After loosening his grip, Caesar chuckled a few times. "I'm not as noble as you think. All I'm doing is for your family. You can make my Black Pine Valley grow crops, which is very valuable to me."

Caesar joked, "You can't just say thank you without offering some compensation."

Caesar wanted Hershel to use some of the food as compensation, so that the mission to help external forces would be rewarded, and the combatants would be more motivated.

Of course, Caesar would prefer Hershel to join Blackpine Valley directly, but he wasn't sure if Hershel had come to that decision yet.

Unexpectedly, Hershel shook his head, his white beard twitching as he said, "I want to give you all the grain you brought back. These things are far less important to me than my daughter."

Caesar's cheek twitched. "You need to think this through. How will you survive without this food?"

"I'm thinking of joining you," Hershel said, extending her hand. "I wonder if the boss would be willing to accept us?"

Caesar paused for a moment, then smiled and shook Herschel's hand. "It's an honor for both of us."

They accepted Hershel and his family, and the group returned to Blackpine Valley with plenty of food.

The farm still has cattle, chickens, ducks, and other animals remaining, as well as various fruit trees that Caesar wanted.

Caesar then instructed Hershel to go to Carol and issue her a production task, ordering her to bring people back to the farm and move the livestock over as well.

For the time being, only Otis is stationed at the farm.

Upon returning to Blackpine Valley, Caesar immediately had Carol take inventory of the belongings, which were then handed over to Amy.

Amy manages the warehouse; all food and supplies come and go through her.

After joining the Herschel family, Caesar intended to establish a planting department, focusing on agriculture, and completely separate it from Carol's logistics department.

The vast Black Pine Valley has many suitable planting areas that have not been utilized before, and Caesar now wants to start them up.

However, the most important thing now is not the policy reforms that follow, but... Randall.

Upon entering the prison, which had only recently been built, Randall became its first guest.

The prison was built in the basement, and it was intentionally designed to be cold and damp.

Caesar entered the interrogation room, which was dimly lit, with only a small ventilation window letting in some light.

Moore was interrogating Randall, and he was driving a small nail into Randall's finger.

Randall screamed and struggled, the sturdy iron chains rattling and rattling.

Seeing Randall's reaction, Moore laughed excitedly, "The more you call me that, the more excited I get."

Moore closed his eyes and shook his head with a sigh: "This taste... it still hasn't hurt me enough."

As he spoke, Moore began the next phase of torture.

Randall could only watch helplessly as waves of excruciating pain surged across his face, sweat pouring down his face and tears streaming down his cheeks. Randall cried out and begged for mercy.

"I...I beg you, please let me go. Waaah..."

"I was just providing the location. I didn't do anything. The man's death has nothing to do with me. They did it all."

"I haven't been with the team for long. I used to survive by scavenging. I haven't done anything bad."

"Ugh... Waaah..."
