The Ferocious God in the Celestial Master's Mansion
Chapter 11 Zhang Zhiwei's Defense
Just as everyone was about to step forward and confront them, a lazy voice came from outside the hall: "I say, isn't it a bit inappropriate for so many of you to bully my master and my junior brother?"
Everyone looked in the direction of the voice and saw a young man dressed in a blue Taoist robe slowly walk in. His hair was tied up, he held a folding fan, and he had a faint smile on his face. It was Zhang Zhiwei.
At this moment, Zhang Zhiwei had shed some of his youthful naiveté, and his brows now carried the air of a grandmaster. He had just returned from running errands down the mountain when he heard about Zhang Yulei's matter, and immediately rushed over.
"Zhang Zhiwei!" Wei Wuji's eyes flashed with a hint of apprehension when he saw him. Zhang Zhiwei's talent and strength were undoubtedly the best among the younger generation of the supernatural world. Even he, the leader of the Qingyun Sect, was not confident that he could defeat him.
Zhang Zhiwei ignored Wei Wuji. He walked to Zhang Yulei's side, bent down to help him up, and checked his pulse. His brows furrowed. "Junior Brother, how did you get yourself into this state?"
Zhang Yulei looked at him, a hint of guilt flashing in his eyes: "Senior brother, I've caused trouble for Longhu Mountain."
"Troublesome?" Zhang Zhiwei smiled and ruffled his hair. "It's no big deal. Even if the sky falls, Master and I will hold it up."
He turned to face the crowd, his smile fading as his gaze sharpened: "How dare you speak ill of the disciples of Longhu Mountain? Qingyun Sect colluded with Quanxing Sect to harm the innocent. My junior brother stepped in to clean up the mess; what wrong has he done?"
"Zhang Zhiwei! Stop talking nonsense!" Wei Wuji shouted angrily.
"Nonsense?" Zhang Zhiwei sneered. "I have evidence here of your Qingyun Sect disciples colluding with the Quanxing Sect. Would you like to see it?"
As he spoke, he pulled a stack of letters from his pocket and threw them on the ground. The letters scattered, clearly recording evidence of the collusion between Qingyun Sect and Quanxing Sect—when and where the transactions took place, and when and where the perpetrators of the attacks on otherworlders were committed, all written down in detail.
Wei Wuji's face turned deathly pale instantly. He never expected that Zhang Zhiwei would have such evidence.
The representatives from various factions turned pale upon seeing the letter. They hadn't expected that the Qingyun Sect would actually collude with the Quanxing Sect to commit such a despicable act.
"Now, what else do you have to say?" Zhang Zhiwei's gaze swept over the crowd, his voice icy. "My disciples from Longhu Mountain did a good job! They killed them brilliantly!"
He stepped forward, his aura suddenly erupting, and an even more formidable pressure than Zhang Qingjing enveloped the entire area: "Today, if anyone dares to utter another word about making my junior brother pay with his life, don't blame me, Zhang Zhiwei, for being impolite!"
Seeing the murderous intent in Zhang Zhiwei's eyes, and then glancing at the cold-faced Zhang Qingjing beside him, Wei Wuji knew he wouldn't gain anything today. He gritted his teeth and said fiercely, "Fine! Fine, Longhu Mountain! Fine, Zhang Qingjing! Fine, Zhang Zhiwei! My Qingyun Sect will remember this humiliation! Let's go!"
With that, he led the disciples of Qingyun Sect away from Chengyun Hall in a disheveled state.
The representatives from various factions exchanged glances, not daring to say anything more, and took their leave. They knew that Longhu Mountain was determined to protect Zhang Yulei this time, and staying any longer would only bring them further humiliation.
Peace was finally restored inside the Chengyun Hall.
Zhang Zhiwei, supporting Zhang Yulei, looked at Zhang Qingjing and asked, "Master, are you alright?"
Zhang Qingjing shook her head, her gaze falling on Zhang Yulei, her eyes filled with complex emotions: "You child, you really are a handful."
His tone no longer held the anger it had before, but instead carried a hint of worry.
Zhang Yulei kept his head down and didn't say anything.
"The violence within you is more severe than I imagined," Zhang Qingjing sighed. "This massacre of nearly a hundred people, while having its reasons, has made me realize that the previous methods are no longer sufficient to suppress your violence."
He walked up to Zhang Yulei, reached out, and placed his hand on Zhang Yulei's pulse. A gentle flow of Qi slowly entered Zhang Yulei's body, examining his physical condition.
A moment later, Zhang Qingjing withdrew her hand, her brows furrowing even more deeply: "You broke through during the slaughter? The Qi Refining and Spirit Transformation Realm..."
He hadn't expected that Zhang Yulei would be able to break through to the Qi Refining and Spirit Transformation realm under such perilous circumstances. This was certainly a good thing, but it also meant that his violent temper had become even more difficult to control.
"Master, I..." Zhang Yulei wanted to say something, but Zhang Qingjing raised her hand to interrupt him.
"You don't need to say anything more," Zhang Qingjing said. "You were wrong in this matter, but the fault doesn't lie entirely with you. Those people deserved to die."
He paused, then said, "But the malevolent energy within you must be controlled as soon as possible. Otherwise, it will cause a great disaster sooner or later. From today onwards, you will be in seclusion in the Tranquil Pavilion next to the Chengyun Hall. I will personally guide your cultivation, help you suppress the malevolent energy, and harmonize the Qi within your body."
"Thank you, Master." Zhang Yulei felt a warmth in his heart, and a trace of gratitude flashed in his eyes.
Zhang Zhiwei breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "Junior Brother, you can focus on your seclusion. Master and I will handle things outside. Anyone who dares to cause trouble again, I'll just kick them out!"
Zhang Yulei nodded, a resolute glint in his eyes. He knew how much pressure his master and senior brother had endured to protect him. He couldn't let them down again.
In the days that followed, Zhang Yulei secluded himself in the Tranquil Pavilion. Zhang Qingjing personally guided his cultivation, imparting to him the supreme mental techniques of Longhu Mountain, and also combining the Three Realms Sect's Reverse Life Triple Stage, Wudang's Tai Chi Dao, and Quanzhen's Inner Alchemy techniques to create a cultivation method tailored to him.
This method focuses on calming the mind and cultivating one's character, supplemented by harmonizing Qi, aiming to help him suppress his violent tendencies and control his power.
Zhang Zhiwei also frequently visited him, bringing him healing pills and sparring with him to help him familiarize himself with the power he gained after his breakthrough.
Under the careful guidance of his master and senior brothers, Zhang Yulei's cultivation progressed rapidly, and the violent energy within him was suppressed and stabilized more and more. His personality also became more composed than before.
But Zhang Qingjing knew this was only temporary. The resentment was like a festering sore; the slightest spark could ignite it again.
He gazed at the figure diligently cultivating in the Tranquil Pavilion, a flicker of worry crossing his eyes. He knew that his youngest disciple possessed extraordinary talent, yet his fate was also fraught with hardship. The road ahead was destined to be anything but smooth.
All he could do was protect him as much as he could while he still could.
As time passed, Zhang Yulei's seclusion came to an end.
Unbeknownst to him, a far greater storm was brewing. The Quanxing sect had not given up on revenge. And those so-called righteous sects were still eyeing him covetously.
More importantly, the murderous aura within him had not completely disappeared. It had only been temporarily suppressed, waiting for the next opportunity to erupt.
