Immortality begins with the Swordsman.

Chapter 31 Sending You On Your Way

A night breeze blew by, carrying the chill of late autumn.

Cai Ling Shuang walked alone on the deserted street, her eyes filled with murderous intent, cold light like a blade. However, her breathing was slightly disordered, and her chest rose and fell slightly, obviously her previous internal injuries had not yet healed.

Here, only a hundred paces away from the brothels and theaters ahead, one can still faintly hear the sounds of music and singing.

Unlike the brightly lit, decadent lifestyle over there.

The street was unusually quiet. The shops on both sides had long since closed, and the street was deserted. Only a noodle shop on a street corner not far away still had a dim light on.

At this moment, under the wooden shed that had been erected, a young man in blue was sitting at a wooden table, eating noodles with gusto, and commenting as he ate:

"Shopkeeper, these noodles are incredibly chewy!"

"This is a ten-year-old craft; I'm glad you like it, young hero."

"Tsk, with skills like that, they must make a lot of money every day, right?"

"Hehe... not at all, it's just to make a living."

For some reason, upon seeing the young man in blue, Cai Ling Shuang's brows slowly relaxed, as if the taut string had finally loosened a little.

She walked to the wooden table, sat down next to the boy, slammed the sword on the table, and called to the shopkeeper, "Shopkeeper, a bowl of noodles, please."

"Alright!"

The noodle shop owner quickly went to cook the noodles, and soon a steaming bowl of noodles was served and placed in front of Cai Ling Shuang. She picked up her chopsticks and began to eat.

The two remained silent for a moment. After taking a few bites, they saw Cheng Buyou hurrying back from the alley not far away. He first nodded to Cai Ling Shuang, then said to Gu Changfeng:

"That guy's out, he's walking this way. Are you going to make your move?"

"Don't rush, let's talk after we finish our noodles."

Gu Changfeng took a few more bites at a leisurely pace, then picked up his bowl to drink the soup, his expression as calm as that of an ordinary diner.

Soon, light footsteps could be heard from the street corner.

A tall, thin young man dressed in hemp clothing slowly walked towards them, holding a Fanyang bamboo hat in his left hand and gently waving it in front of him like a fan.

Upon seeing Cai Ling Shuang and the other two, he walked over without any hesitation, sat down opposite them, narrowed his eyes, and said:

"Miss Cai, we've clashed seven times in the past two weeks. You can't do anything to me, and I can't do anything to you either. Since that's the case, why don't we just stop here?"

He spoke casually, but his body remained tense, and his eyes were fixed on Cai Ling Shuang.

Cai Ling Shuang ignored his words and instead turned to look at the young man in blue who was eating noodles, seemingly waiting for his decision.

Ji Wujiu's eyes narrowed slightly, and he tentatively asked, "Oh, this face is unfamiliar. May I ask your name?"

Gu Changfeng looked up, smiled at him, his teeth white and his smile radiant. Then he turned and called out, "Shopkeeper, another bowl of noodles, please."

The shopkeeper responded and went to cook the noodles.

Ji Wujiu's eyes twitched slightly. The young man's expression was calm, but his aura was faint and hard to fathom, which made him feel inexplicably wary.

The noodles were served quickly.

Ji Wujiu originally thought the boy was going to continue eating, but to his surprise, the boy slowly pushed the bowl of noodles over and placed it in front of him.

"Try it, the shopkeeper's cooking is quite good."

"What exactly do you want to do?" Ji Wujiu frowned.

Gu Changfeng said calmly, "Eat up! After you finish eating, I'll send you on your way."

The words fell like a cold thunderclap.

Ji Wujiu's expression changed drastically, and he abruptly stood up and turned around: "Who exactly are you?"

Gu Changfeng sighed, put down his chopsticks, and looked up at him: "Hey, why do you talk so much nonsense when you're already dead? I originally wanted you to die well-fed, but since you want to die starving, then I'll just have to grant your wish!"

A cold glint flashed in Ji Wujiu's eyes, and he already gripped a single-edged sword in his hand, uttering a low growl: "Playing tricks!"

Gu Changfeng simply smiled, raised his sword, and slowly walked out of the wooden shed. His expression was calm, and his aura was so steady that it made people's hearts tremble.

When Ji Wujiu saw that he was approaching alone, his eyelids twitched slightly, and he involuntarily took a step back.

Clang—!

He drew his longsword, and a purple aura rose to his face.

Gu Changfeng moved like lightning, his sword flashing like a rainbow. With a single sword strike, he swept across the night wind, stirring up a chilling killing intent as he slashed down!

So fast!

Ji Wujiu's eyes flashed with horror. He had just raised his knife and hadn't even had time to block it with all his might when Gu Changfeng's sword arrived. The blade was covered with purple qi and its force was as powerful as a mountain collapsing and a tsunami crashing.

Swords clashed!

With a clang, the knife in Ji Wujiu's hand snapped in two, the break clean and almost without any obstruction.

Gu Changfeng's sword, still brimming with power, slashed directly at his right arm, severing it and splattering blood everywhere.

"ah--!!"

Ji Wujiu let out a heart-wrenching scream, falling backward to the ground as excruciating pain surged through him, his scream echoing through the night street.

Gu Changfeng said calmly, "This sword strike was from Xiao Lie. Although I beat him up all the time, I've developed a bit of affection for him after all that beating."

When a lion hunts a rabbit, it uses its full strength.

It's harmless to spar with fellow disciples in the mountains, holding back some of your strength; but once you leave the mountains and enter the martial world, where swords and spears have no eyes, it's a bit foolish to still think about holding back.

Ji Wujiu clutched his severed arm, his face ashen, his mind racing: "This person's martial arts are too high, I have to escape quickly."

He mustered his last breath and said in a trembling voice, "You...you dare to kill me? My master is a ruthless fiend; if you kill me, he will surely wipe out your entire family—"

As he spoke, he suddenly raised his left hand.

A packet of eerie green poison powder suddenly spilled out, carrying a pungent, fishy smell. It exploded instantly in the night wind, turning into a billowing cloud of poisonous mist.

Taking advantage of the cover of the poisonous fog, Ji Wujiu's feet sank, and his figure leaped up, disappearing like lightning towards the end of the street in a few leaps.

Just as he leaped up on his third step—

A clear, cold voice suddenly rang in his left ear:

"Do you know that in Mount Hua, if I say I'm second to none in lightness skill, no one dares to claim to be first..."

Ji Wujiu was struck dumb and abruptly turned his head.

Gu Changfeng arrived like a ghost, his green robe swift as the wind, his figure as fast as lightning, walking alongside him, even leading by half a body length!

At that moment, Ji Wujiu felt his scalp tingle and his heart tremble.

Gu Changfeng's voice sounded softly from beside him:

"This sword strike was from Xiao Han."

Swish-!

The sword light flashed across the sky like a bolt of lightning, disappearing in an instant.

Ji Wujiu felt as if the world had suddenly turned upside down, and his consciousness had been pulled away.

He strained to open his eyes, trying to see everything clearly, but all he saw was his own body, still running forward, blood gushing out like a fountain in the night wind...

At that moment, he finally realized what had happened—

Unfortunately, it's too late.

Cai Ling Shuang and Cheng Bu You arrived shortly afterward and saw from afar that Ji Wu Jiu's head was severed from his body, and blood stained the blue stone.

Cheng Buyou was overjoyed at the sight, grinned, and said to Gu Changfeng, "Good, well done! I owe you a favor this time."

Cai Ling Shuang's expression changed slightly, and she quickly stepped forward.

Gu Changfeng stood with his head slightly raised, sword on his back, motionless, his face paler than the moonlight.

Her heart tightened, and her brows furrowed instantly as the packet of poison powder that Ji Wujiu had just scattered flashed through her mind.

Almost instinctively, she reached out and grabbed Gu Changfeng's shoulders, urgently asking, "You...you've been poisoned?"

however--

Suddenly, Gu Changfeng let out a "whoosh" and vomited all over her.

"Why are you shaking me?" he said with a look of utter despair. "This is my first time killing someone, I feel nauseous and wanted to vomit, and I finally managed to suppress it... but when you shook me, I couldn't hold it in anymore..."

Cai Ling Shuang looked down at her filthy body, her breath caught in her throat, and her face was even paler than Gu Chang Feng's.

The dignified Holy Maiden of the Sword Sect, usually cold and aloof, finally couldn't hold back any longer and let out a scream even more piercing than Ji Wujiu's earlier:

"ah----!"
