Reborn in Tokyo: From Heiress to Global Tycoon
Chapter 421 Departure from Akihabara
(Two chapters today too~)
By the time breakfast was over, it was past 8:30.
Satsuki put down her teacup and moved her still slightly sore right hand.
When she regained consciousness in the morning, the unpleasant numbness had mostly subsided, but a slight soreness remained on the inside of her arm from being pressed down all night. She glanced down and suddenly remembered Amy's sticky "sweetness of Satsuki-chan" in her sleep.
Satsuki's brow twitched slightly.
She decided to stop giving Amy similar rewards for at least a month.
Amy, sitting opposite, was still eating the fruit on her plate.
She was indeed more obedient than usual today. The kitchen was quite clean, and she finished most of her breakfast. When Satsuki was explaining the equipment and personnel arrangements, she didn't rush into the study, but instead slowly picked at the last two pieces of apple with a fork.
Although those eyes had already glanced at the coat in Chizuru's hand four or five times.
Satsuki saw it, but didn't point it out.
Chizuru walked to her side and unfolded her thin coat. Satsuki stood up and put one hand into her sleeve. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Amy stop eating her fork.
A faint smile appeared on her lips.
I wondered how long this girl could hold out.
"The equipment and personnel list should be given to Endo by this afternoon."
Satsuki slowly put on the other sleeve, deliberately not turning around.
"The test line will continue to have Shimomura review the data. You don't need to go there today, and you're not allowed to hide in the study."
There was a moment of silence behind me.
"Um……"
Amy answered softly.
The apple, which had been poked several times with a fork, ended up sitting alone on the plate.
Satsuki waited for Chizuru to straighten the wrinkles on the back of her shoulders before turning around.
Amy had already stood up from her chair, her lips pressed tightly together, the excitement she had felt upon receiving the new equipment gone. She looked at Satsuki's coat as if confirming something she didn't want to accept.
"Satsuki-chan, are you leaving?"
"What's wrong?"
Gao Yue asked a question she already knew the answer to.
"Didn't you hug me enough last night?"
Amy's ears turned slightly red as she walked over and grabbed her sleeve.
This time, she had clearly learned from her morning experience, and she used very little force, only daring to pinch a small piece of fabric with two fingers.
"They don't know they're being held when they're asleep."
"So that's how it can be calculated?"
Satsuki looked down at the two fingers.
"Suzuki Amy, when you made your request last night, you didn't say that time spent asleep wouldn't count towards the time limit."
"I didn't think of that at the time..."
"We'll add the terms after the reward is paid out. Endo will be very upset if he finds out."
Amy was speechless for a moment after hearing what she said, so she could only look up along Satsuki's sleeve.
"Stay with me a little longer."
She drawled out her words and looked over expectantly.
"It's Sunday today, and Satsuki-chan doesn't have class again. We haven't gone out together in ages."
Satsuki originally wanted to tease her a few more times.
But when Amy looked up at her, the face of the person who had been carrying flowers and pacing around the living room last night, and who had been so happy that she couldn't speak for a long time after receiving permission, overlapped with the face in front of her.
This girl just saved Saionji tens of billions of yen.
The extra half-day reward doesn't seem too unreasonable.
As soon as the thought popped into her head, Satsuki became somewhat dissatisfied.
She realized this morning that she had created a dangerous reward system, and now she's already starting to find reasons to give Amy additional rewards.
"I still have work to do."
Satsuki tugged at her sleeve.
Amy didn't dare to force him to stay and quickly loosened her grip a little, though she still didn't completely let go of his fingers.
"Saionji won't go bankrupt even if they work half a day less..."
She muttered something under her breath.
Satsuki gently raised her eyebrows.
Amy immediately stood up straight.
"I mean, Mr. Endo is very reliable! Mr. Shimomura is also in Odaiba, so everyone won't stop just because Satsuki-chan is taking a half-day break."
She became more and more serious as she explained, as if she were submitting a temporary leave application to the head of the group.
Satsuki looked at her for a few seconds, then finally couldn't help but laugh.
"So, after all that effort you went to defend my employee, where do you expect me to go with you?"
Amy noticed the relaxation in her tone and her eyes lit up.
Akihabara!
"Going to buy parts again?"
"We're not buying any lab equipment today."
Amy answered quickly.
Before Satsuki could nod, she cautiously added:
"Of course, if I happen to see something I really need..."
Satsuki reached out and pinched her face.
"So what did you promise just now?"
"Hmm...can I not buy it?"
Amy's voice leaked out from between her squeezed cheeks.
"We can go see some games, and we can go to that SA store. Satsuki-chan, it's been so long since we went to Akihabara together."
Satsuki loosened his grip.
Amy rubbed her face, still not giving up.
"The last time we met like this at Banseibashi was when I brought out that yellow-cased bag for Satsuki-chan."
"You were late that day."
Satsuki remembered this almost immediately.
"Is the tram delayed?"
Amy was a little embarrassed, but quickly laughed again.
"But I did manage to get a date with Uncle Itakura for Satsuki-chan. Uncle Itakura even said that if we hadn't offered that five million yen, he definitely wouldn't have accepted Nintendo's order."
At that time, the Itakura Chamber of Commerce was hidden in a back alley behind the Radio Center.
The roller shutter door was only half-open, and the lights inside were kept off; a thin layer of dust covered the folding chairs. Satsuki took out five million yen and asked Itakura to use his distribution channels to acquire the next thousand games that no one seemed interested in.
That was just a random move she made.
A few years later, Itakura was in charge of SA Entertainment, and the original small shop was incorporated into the group's boutique in Akihabara.
Satsuki hadn't originally planned to go today.
But when Amy mentioned Manseibyo, images of that crowded street, the yellow cassette tape inside the plastic case, and Itakura's still somewhat hesitant face when he signed the agreement flashed through her mind.
Six years have passed, and Akihabara has probably changed quite a bit.
In Satsuki's memory, this street, once famous for radio parts and home appliances, will gradually be redefined by computers, games, anime, and various character merchandise.
That kind of change certainly won't happen suddenly one day. What's really worth observing is how many shop windows computers and games now occupy, what changes have occurred in the customers who come here, and which shops have started to shift from simply selling machines to selling software, images, and content.
The bubble has burst, and ordinary families are cutting back on spending on cars, appliances, and real estate. But whether young people are still willing to spend money on game cartridges, music, videos, and their favorite characters is another matter entirely.
These things are difficult to understand from industry reports alone.
Walking along the streets yourself, observing what shops sell, where customers gather, and which types of goods are increasing, makes it easier to determine the future direction of cultural consumption.
SA already has distribution channels for music, artists, karaoke, and video. Games and animation haven't truly entered the group's portfolio yet, but if new changes are already emerging in Akihabara, it's always more worthwhile to get a head start on understanding the stores, talent, and distribution channels beforehand than to wait until everyone sees the opportunity before entering the market.
It's definitely necessary to take a look.
As for accompanying Amy, it was just a side effect.
Satsuki quickly came to this conclusion for herself and turned to look at Chizuru.
"Do you have any mandatory attendance plans this afternoon?"
"no."
Chizuru answered quickly, as if she already knew things would turn out this way.
"Mr. Endo originally planned to deliver the documents to our residence before dinner, and all other matters could be handled in the car."
Amy immediately took a step closer, but then resisted the urge to hug him.
Her expression of wanting to be happy but not daring to be happy in advance inexplicably improved Satsuki's mood.
"Be back before 3 PM."
"good!"
After Amy agreed, she turned and ran towards the bedroom.
"I'm going to change my clothes!"
"Slow down."
Satsuki watched as she nearly bumped into the wall at the corner of the corridor, and her voice finally betrayed a barely concealed smile.
"Akihabara isn't going to move away in ten minutes."
Amy peeked back from around the corner, showing half her face.
"But Satsuki-chan might change her mind."
If you keep dawdling, I'm going to back out right now.
A burst of quickened footsteps immediately filled the corridor.
Satsuki looked away and took the coat back from Chizuru.
"Have the car wait downstairs."
"Yes."
Satsuki looked down and saw the shallow crease, then casually touched it with her hand.
"The security personnel changed into civilian clothes."
She glanced in the direction Amy had disappeared, a slight smile still lingering on her lips.
"Today is just accompanying her out for fun, don't make it seem like Saionji is trying to buy out Akihabara."
