The Great Bandit of Journey to the West

Chapter 156 The Real and Fake Jiang Feng

Chapter 156 The Real and Fake Jiang Feng

"Huh? I'm going to summon the Goddess of Fertility?"

The next morning, the lion spirit was summoned to the main hall. After hearing the king's order, its eyes widened in disbelief.

He could summon a local earth god or mountain god, but summoning a legitimate deity from the Heavenly Court? Not to mention whether he could do it, even his master, Manjushri Bodhisattva, wouldn't dare to act so recklessly.

Now he really wanted to leave, after all, given the choice between violating the heavenly rules and fulfilling his master's mission, he knew which one to choose.

He glanced at the king, then at Sun Wukong, who was eyeing him menacingly, and said with a mournful face, "Your Majesty, I am not familiar with the Goddess of Fertility, and I really cannot invite her."

The king said with pity, "Then we can only have the royal advisor castrated again. Royal advisor, I don't want to do this either. You should be able to understand me."

Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Feng took out a pill, stepped forward, and grinned sinisterly at the lion demon, saying, "Eat this pill, and your second brother will regenerate and regain his virility for a quarter of an hour. Be sure to thank me in your heart!"

The lion demon took a small step back in fear, conjured a precious sword, and pointed it at Jiang Feng, trembling, saying, "Don't do anything rash! This sword of mine is no joke!"

Jiang Feng sneered, "Do you think I'm a pushover? When you came to obstruct my westward journey, you should have been prepared to die!"

"Since you've figured out my intentions, then this humble Taoist will no longer hide anything!"

The lion-like monster roared, transformed back into its original form, and whipped up a gust of demonic wind to snatch Jiang Feng away.

Wukong, who was already on guard, struck the lion demon with his staff, and the two began to fight back and forth.

The guards and ministers in the palace were so frightened by the lion demon revealing its true form that they scattered and fled, leaving the king alone on the throne.

The king trembled with fear, his legs went weak, and he couldn't stand up for a long time. He said in a panic, "The royal advisor is actually a monster! Could he be here to eat me? What should I do? What am I going to do?!"

Jiang Feng reassured him, "Your Majesty, don't panic. My eldest disciple is a renowned demon king in the Three Realms. Even if a few more demons like him came, they would be beaten to their knees and beg for mercy!"

"ah----"

The king stared in shock, his heart finally at peace.

Now that you've said that, I'm even more scared!

As they were talking, Sun Wukong and the lion demon had already fought for twenty rounds. Seeing that he was about to be defeated, the lion demon made a hand seal with his left hand, and with a loud bang, the entire hall was instantly filled with white smoke.

Wukong blew away the white smoke in the hall, and there stood two Jiang Fengs standing side by side. Even he couldn't tell the real one from the fake one.

Wukong frowned, jumped up to the two of them, looked them over, and scratched his head, asking, "Which one of them is real, and which one is fake?"

Bai Suzhen covered her mouth and chuckled: "That's easy. Just take the Golden Cudgel and give each of them a whack on the head, sending their souls to the Western Paradise. Buddha will then be able to tell the real from the fake!"

Jiang Feng took a step back in alarm: "You, Bai Suzhen, you truly have the heart of a viper!"

The lion spirit followed suit and began to criticize Bai Suzhen.

Bai Suzhen, her eyes as gentle as water, said, "I am a snake spirit, so naturally I have the heart of a snake and a scorpion."

Pigsy's eyes darted around, and with a憨憨的 smile, he stepped forward and said, "Master has many elixirs. Whoever brings out the most will be the real Master!"

Jiang Feng angrily retorted, "What time is it? Pigsy, are you still thinking about freeloading?"

The lion spirit imitated Jiang Feng's manner, sternly reprimanding Bajie, but in reality, he was already panicking.

None of these people are normal. If you asked me about Buddhist scriptures or something, at least I could have fooled you.

If I keep asking these random questions, I'm afraid I'll give myself away right away!

Sun Wukong, who was feeling anxious, chased the troublesome Pigsy aside and said, "Master once taught me the Heart Sutra. You two recite it together, and whoever recites it correctly will be Master!"

The lion demon breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. He knew it; he had been there when Guanyin Bodhisattva recited this scripture!

Before long, he confidently and calmly recited the Heart Sutra once, then looked at Jiang Feng with a hint of provocation in his eyes.

"Your turn!"

Seeing this, Jiang Feng smiled slightly and said, "I can't recite it; he is the real Jiang Feng. Wujing, put the golden headband given to him by the Bodhisattva on his head and protect him on his journey to the Western Paradise to retrieve the scriptures!"

Sha Wujing's eyes lit up, and he immediately secretly pinched the golden headband in his hand, looking eager to try it out.

"what?"

The lion spirit looked bewildered, wondering what was going on and how it had become a holy monk.

Did I exceed my master's expectations by doing more than I was supposed to do?!

After a moment of stunned silence, unable to contain his elation, he pointed at Jiang Feng and shouted, "Wukong, kill this monster!"

His words had barely left his lips when Sun Wukong showed no reaction. He looked at Wukong with a puzzled expression, and seeing Wukong staring at him with a smile, his heart skipped a beat. He asked, "Wukong, why aren't you making a move?"

Wukong laughed heartily: "What a monster! Your transformation technique managed to fool my Fiery Eyes of Truth, you're quite something! It's just a pity you recited the scriptures incorrectly!"

The lion spirit was stunned for a moment, then said with great suspicion, "That's impossible, where did I mispronounce it?"

Sun Wukong laughed and said, "Let me ask you, what is it called when a kind person organizes a group of elderly people and takes them to visit famous historical sites for free?"

The lion spirit frowned and said, "This should be called doing good deeds and accumulating merit, right? This kind person has the heart of a Bodhisattva; they must be a devout believer. What does this have to do with the Heart Sutra?"

Sun Wukong chuckled: "Let you die knowing why. In the Heart Sutra, this is called pension fraud. This kind person deliberately tricked them into buying counterfeit goods!"

Lion-like spirit: "???"

This isn't even from the Heart Sutra!

Seeing his bewildered expression, Wukong kicked him to the ground and raised his golden cudgel, saying, "Monster, prepare to die!"

The next instant, a golden light suddenly flashed.

Manjushri Bodhisattva appeared and said, "Great Sage, please have mercy! This lion demon was one of my mounts, who descended to the mortal realm for a moment of playfulness. Considering that he hasn't done any evil and even brought rain to the people of Wuji Kingdom, please spare his life!"

Jiang Feng looked at Manjushri Bodhisattva and said, "Since the Bodhisattva is pleading for mercy, I should have given you face, but this lion demon dared to impersonate me, so I can't let him off easily."

Manjushri Bodhisattva breathed a slight sigh of relief and smiled, "So, what do you want?"

Jiang Feng said, "It's simple. Bodhisattva, give me five documents that predict his Buddhahood, and I'll let you take him away."

Manjushri Bodhisattva was taken aback: "A document predicting Buddhahood? I wouldn't have such a thing. You'd be better off asking the Buddha for it!"

Jiang Feng said discontentedly, "Aren't you the Bodhisattva in charge of documents? Don't be so stingy. I only need five copies. You can't just sign them off like that!"

Manjushri Bodhisattva: "————"

My name is Manjushri Bodhisattva, not Wenshu Bodhisattva!
