Conspiracy: I'm directing my own life

Chapter 23 Moral Suspension

"Good afternoon, Li."

Chu Kong greeted Li Lingchuang with a smile.

Li Lingchuang didn't respond, but instead cut to the chase: "Chu Kong, I have something I'd like to ask you."

"What is it? I'll definitely help if I can."

Chu Kong said this without any burden; if he felt something was wrong, he could just find an excuse not to help.

After all, the viewers in the live stream were watching, and they knew that Chu Kong and Li Lingchuang weren't getting along, so finding a small excuse wasn't a big deal.

"I'd like to switch classes with you. I'm in the same class as that boy from yesterday again this afternoon."

Li Lingchuang frowned, looking unwilling.

Regardless of his real personality, at least judging from the character he portrays, his performance is impeccable.

But Chu Kong heard it differently.

Li Lingchuang was deeply involved, and although Zhao Ping himself had never dealt with him, he was also a member of the production team.

It would be impossible for Chu Kong not to have any doubts about these two people getting together.

Even the fact that this work-study activity itself was said to be organized by the production company didn't surprise Chu Kong at all.

As he pondered, Chu Kong wore a troubled expression.

Li Lingchuang noticed his predicament and added, "Actually, you don't need to worry too much. Zhao Ping and I had a conflict before when we played basketball together, so he won't deliberately target you."

Chu Kong was still somewhat hesitant. While thinking it over, he asked another question: "Which department were you in this afternoon?"

"Digital and Furniture Section"

-----------------

The work in the digital and furniture sections should be considered relatively easy.

This is especially true for young people like Chu Kong.

After all, when facing customers who come to buy things, it is crucial to understand their needs and be able to explain the product's features.

As for slightly more complex sales pitches, they are not that necessary.

After all, their job is simply to make introductions. They don't receive a commission regardless of whether the customer buys anything.

Chu Kong ultimately agreed to the exchange with Li Lingchuang, not because the digital furniture area was more relaxed, but because of two considerations.

On one hand, Chu Kong wanted to see what the production company was really up to, and what Zhao Ping's purpose was.

On the other hand, Li Lingchuang is not an easy person to get along with. If he hadn't taken the initiative to come to Chu Kong this time, Chu Kong really wouldn't know how to build a good relationship with him.

It's not about turning enemies into friends; it's just that things are superficially acceptable.

There may be two-faced and fickle people in life.

But after all, a script must be logical.

If Chu Kong and Li Lingchuang don't have any major conflicts on the surface, the production team will need to put in a lot of effort to use Li Lingchuang as a pawn to trip them up.

Therefore, as soon as it was time for work in the afternoon, Chu Kong went to the digital and furniture section.

There aren't many people here right now, because not many people choose to buy these things at supermarkets.

Just as Chu Kong was about to familiarize himself with the products and their functions so that he wouldn't stumble during the introduction,

Shu Wenxue appeared at the entrance of the digital zone.

When she met Chu Kong's gaze, Shu Wenxue nodded, which was considered a greeting.

"Why are you here? I noticed you weren't here this morning, and I thought you had dropped out of the work-study program."

Chu Kong asked casually.

Hearing Chu Kong's question, Shu Wenxue blushed slightly: "I didn't plan to give up, but I was really feeling unwell this morning, so I took half a morning off."

After saying this, Shu Wenxue sighed with a melancholy expression: "Because of the leave I took, I guess it will be difficult for me to be rated as excellent."

The term "recognition of excellence" refers to the selection of outstanding individuals or groups during this work-study program on campus.

According to Chu Kong, nothing can be obtained except for certificates and empty titles.

Therefore, Chu Kong never took the evaluation for excellence to heart from the beginning.

Seeing Shu Wenxue's anxious and uncertain attitude towards the evaluation, Chu Kong couldn't help but find it somewhat amusing.

This also shows another side of Shu Wenxue.

"Then why are you here? Where's Zhao Ping?"

Chu Kong asked with a puzzled look.

"Zhao Ping is in the same class as me. He asked to switch classes with me, apparently because he doesn't want to be in the same class as the boy you argued with that day."

Chu Kong was speechless, truly baffled by what these two were thinking.

However, regarding Shu Wenxue, Chu Kong felt that it was most likely just a coincidence and did not involve the production company's control.

After all, Li Lingchuang and Zhao Ping are, at best, colleagues, and it's quite normal for colleagues not to get along.

"It's about the same on my end."

Chu Kong also briefly explained his shift change.

At this moment, the supervisor whom Chu Kong had met that morning arrived and looked at Chu Kong with a surprised expression.

"Hey there, what a coincidence! You're on a class here this afternoon?"

"Yes, supervisor, it is quite a coincidence," Chu Kong replied perfunctorily.

"That's perfect. You're quite familiar with this matter, so I'll leave it to you."

As he spoke, the manager took a box out of his pocket.

Chu Kong immediately recognized it as the box the person who returned the headphones that morning had used to pack them.

Seemingly noticing Chu Kong's confusion, the supervisor explained, "According to the supplier's requirements, this headset will be scrapped here, so it doesn't need to be sent back."

The supervisor glanced at Shu Wenxue and continued, "In a moment, have your girlfriend film you with her phone, then you appear on camera, smash the earphones with a hammer, and send the video to the supplier."

"No...that's not it."

The supervisor's misunderstanding made both of them blush. Shu Wenxue didn't say anything, but Chu Kong stammered and tried to explain.

"Oh? I remember you had lunch together yesterday, I thought..."

The supervisor spoke very quickly, still displaying a decisive and efficient demeanor; in his view, this matter was not important at all.

After putting the items down and giving a few more instructions such as "make sure to smash them, and make sure the video is clear," he left.

Only the two blushing teenagers remained.

"Cough cough, tell me, if you're going to destroy it, why did you have to film that kind of video?"

Chu Kong broke the awkward silence by starting a conversation.

"What a waste! It's just that one of the earphones is broken. Even giving it to an employee would be better than smashing it."

As he said this, Chu Kong inexplicably thought of Aunt Chen.

The image of Aunt Chen carrying the bag seemed to appear before my eyes once again.

"Unfortunately, this procedure is necessary for the sake of the company's reputation."

Shu Wenxue's emotions calmed down, and she explained along the lines of the topic.

"If we gave it to the employees, wouldn't they praise the company even more?"

"That's not the case. For businesses, the majority of people in society are the target customer group, and the most important thing for businesses is to build trust with their customer group."

On the surface, giving a defective product to an employee for free seems like no big deal.

But that did indeed allow a defective product bearing the marks of a company to enter the market.

Each defective product brings more exposure.

People won't remember that the product was given away for free; they'll only remember that the brand produced defective products.

Once this idea takes root in the public's mind, the company is not far from decline.

Shu Wenxue was still talking.

But as Chu Kong listened, his thoughts drifted almost to the ends of the earth.

Like a lost traveler suddenly seeing twinkling stars.

Suddenly, a thought fell to the ground, and he grasped it in his hand.

"Excuse me, I need to use the restroom." Chu Kong said apologetically, clutching his stomach as he walked towards the restroom.

"Child, are you really sure?" Zhou Huaijin's voice was serious and solemn.

"I've thought it through. This will be my first time using a script..."
