Chapter 72 Measuring the Tribulation

However, Xuanhuang did not do that. Instead, he got up and left his seclusion, then summoned his disciple Kong Xuan and instructed him, "Xuan'er, I have to go out again. Do you want to stay on the island to cultivate, or go to the prehistoric world to train?"

After so many years of cultivation, Kong Xuan's cultivation level has now broken through to the Great Luo Golden Immortal realm.

This could be considered a powerful figure. However, in the current prehistoric world, the number of Great Luo Golden Immortal cultivators is far greater than before the three sermons at Zixiao Palace.

Therefore, the era when even a Great Immortal could be considered a top-tier expert is gone forever.

Even now, a Great Luo Golden Immortal can only be considered to have decent strength.

Furthermore, with the fall of the Eastern King Duke, the calamity between heaven and earth is approaching. These numerous Great Luo Golden Immortals will soon be the main force to face the calamity.

However, even at this critical moment, Xuanhuang still intended to send Kong Xuan out to gain experience, not for any particular reason, but so that Kong Xuan could grow better.

Because he always stays under the protection of his own wing, Kong Xuan can never become a true strongman.

Kong Xuan did not disappoint Xuanhuang. After listening to Xuanhuang's words, he chose the latter without hesitation.

"Teacher, I want to travel to the primordial wilderness," Kong Xuan said with a determined look in his eyes.

"it is good."

Xuanhuang nodded and smiled, "I've taught you everything I could. Now it's time for you to test your own cultivation results."

"This is the control talisman for the magic array of Yingzhou Island. You can use it to enter and leave Yingzhou Island. Moreover, this talisman also contains one of my supernatural powers. If you encounter an insurmountable danger while traveling in the primordial world, it can also come in handy."

Xuanhuang then bestowed another talisman upon Kong Xuan.

Kong Xuan respectfully accepted the talisman, bowed again, and said, "This disciple thanks you, Master. Master, this disciple is leaving now."

Xuanhuang waved his hand, signaling Kong Xuan to leave.

After Kong Xuan left, Xuanhuang vanished from the Xuanhuang Palace in a flash.

……

Meanwhile, in the Kunlun Mountains, there is the place where Laozi of Taiqing secluded himself for cultivation.

Since the return of Chaos, Lao Tzu had been in seclusion for many years. On this day, Lao Tzu suddenly trembled and then woke up and opened his eyes.

In Lao Tzu's eyes, the gaze shifted and changed like smoke and clouds, sometimes deep and sometimes serene, unpredictable, as if containing the profound mysteries of the Great Dao.

At this moment, auspicious clouds appeared behind Lao Tzu's head. These clouds were like a tranquil spring, making a tinkling sound that was crisp and melodious. Unconsciously, they seemed to seep into people's hearts.

They were quite relaxed and content. However, gradually, the cloud light, which was as clear as a spring and as still as a pool, began to change, as if a storm was about to break out, and gradually became restless.

The clouds became increasingly turbulent and began to boil. Three red flowers floated on them, and on one of them, a figure could be vaguely seen sitting cross-legged.

That figure was none other than the benevolent corpse that Laozi had slain.

The remaining two red flowers were completely empty, with no one around and no treasure to be found.

As time passed, the auspicious cloud behind Lao Tzu's head became increasingly hazy, like a chaotic churning, making even the incarnation of the benevolent corpse and the three red flowers indistinct.

Lao Tzu's face also showed a ferocious expression at this moment, his brows were tightly furrowed, as if he was struggling.

A surge of intense thoughts, almost tangible, welled up around Laozi, transforming into wisps of black mist.

These thoughts are all manifestations of negative emotions, such as anger, sadness, or hatred.

In this situation, it was as if Lao Tzu was performing the severing of the three corpses.

Cutting off the three corpses means cutting off one's own good thoughts, evil thoughts, and ego. Among them, good thoughts and evil thoughts represent one's positive emotions and negative emotions, respectively.

If you can eliminate both of these emotions and not be controlled by them, the benefits are self-evident.

This is precisely the wonder of the method of severing the three corpses.

"cut!"

Suddenly, Laozi roared, and all the negative thoughts in the billowing black mist were instantly drawn into the auspicious cloud.

Then, with a loud boom, Lao Tzu's auspicious clouds trembled, as if the sound of the Great Dao resounded from the darkness.

The next moment, a Taoist priest dressed in a black robe jumped out from Laozi's auspicious cloud.

This Taoist priest exuded a strong aura of negative emotions that he had not yet contained.

Clearly, this is the evil corpse that Lao Tzu severed.

Lao Tzu successfully severed his second corpse, and his cultivation level increased dramatically at this moment, finally advancing from the early stage of Quasi-Saint to the middle stage of Quasi-Saint.

"This humble Taoist greets the Venerable One," the evil corpse said coldly, glancing at Laozi.

Lao Tzu remained unmoved and indifferent, knowing that this evil corpse was a manifestation of his own negative emotions, hence its behavior.

Seeing Laozi nod slightly, the evil corpse incarnation didn't say anything more. With a flash, it transformed into a black light and returned to Laozi's auspicious cloud.

He sat down on one of the two remaining empty red flowers, directly opposite Lao Tzu's benevolent corpse.

After slaying the evil corpse, Lao Tzu felt a sense of clarity in his mind, and all kinds of emotions, whether positive or negative, could no longer control him.

Whenever these emotions arise, they are immediately transferred to his two incarnations in a mysterious way.

I, however, remained rational throughout.

This is incredibly beneficial for cultivation. Not only do various emotions not affect one, but they also nourish one's two incarnations.

Feeling that his cultivation and Taoist practice had greatly improved, Laozi smiled calmly, and then his expression returned to calm.

Then Laozi began to calculate, trying to discern the secrets of heaven.

After a while, Lao Tzu couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "When did so many calamities begin to permeate the world?"

With a furrowed brow, Laozi went through the calculations again and again.

"I see."

After calculating more than ten times, Lao Tzu finally stopped: "From the moment the Eastern King Duke fell, did a new great calamity begin?"

"They came so fiercely."

"Master Hongjun spread his teachings throughout the world, benefiting countless cultivators, but this also leads to the arrival of calamities sooner."

Lao Tzu's cultivation had greatly increased at this time, and he had also comprehended many secrets of heaven and earth. He knew that when living beings cultivated and absorbed the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, they would invisibly form a karmic bond with heaven and earth.

The higher one's cultivation level, the more spiritual energy one absorbs, and the deeper and heavier one's karmic burdens become. When the karmic burdens of all beings reach a certain point, a great calamity will be triggered.

When the great calamity arrives, all sentient beings will face the calamity. As long as they do not become saints, they will still be subject to karma and will be caught in the great calamity.

There is no other way to overcome this great calamity but one word: kill!

The more cultivators you kill, the more spiritual energy they absorb will be returned to heaven and earth, thus freeing you from karma and allowing the great calamity to pass more quickly.
