Chapter 46 Lao Tzu Slays the Corpse

Yingzhou Island.

Xuanhuang returned from Buzhou Mountain and saw that in front of the Yimu Palace, Daoist Yimu was preaching, and a large group of beings were gathered below. These beings were gradually achieving success in their cultivation, and some with strong talents had even cultivated considerable supernatural powers.

Xuanhuang frowned slightly, as if he saw many causes and effects in the darkness, and muttered to himself, "It seems that my Yingzhou Island will also have its day of birth sooner or later."

"But now is not the time."

The Renshui Palace, however, remained closed. It was clear that the Renshui Daoist was in seclusion.

Xuanhuang ignored his two clones and went about his business, finding a spot around the Xuanhuang Palace to plant the gourd vines.

Although I managed to revive the gourd vine, the ripening and departure of the six gourds still greatly depleted its essence.

It will take a long time to recover.

However, every cloud has a silver lining. After this great calamity, the gourd vine also gained some good fortune and underwent certain changes.

However, it will be extremely beneficial for their future.

Xuanhuang also noticed this, but he ignored it and let it develop on its own.

After dealing with the gourd vines, Xuanhuang returned to the palace, sat cross-legged on a futon, and began his secluded meditation.

He gained a lot from this sermon at Zixiao Palace.

The method of severing the three corpses is secondary, since no matter how powerful this method is, it is still just a method, not the Dao.

The Dao is the most fundamental principle. As for the methods, although they are difficult to find, the Mysterious and the Yellow Emperor already had their own methods.

This method of severing the three corpses is only for reference.

Time passed slowly, but the Xuanhuang Hall was very quiet. Xuanhuang sat cross-legged on the futon, motionless, sometimes even like a stone without any breath.

Sometimes it seems utterly illusory, as if it were about to return to nothingness.

After an unknown amount of time, Xuanhuang's body suddenly trembled slightly, as he finally awoke from his enlightenment.

As he opened his eyes, all sorts of strange phenomena and the Great Dao began to form from his body.

The Five Elements, Yin and Yang, the Four Symbols, Tai Chi, as well as creation, destruction, void, time, chaos, stars, and so on.

The surging aura of the Great Dao was boundless and limitless.

Xuanhuang opened his eyes, which were empty and unfathomable, with seemingly flowing galaxies within them, and at other times displaying scenes of the birth and death of the world and the creation of chaos.

In an instant, countless changes occurred, evolving into various profound and unimaginable principles.

Xuanhuang closed his eyes again, then opened them again, and returned to normal, his aura of the Great Dao all around him also receding.

There were no more unusual phenomena.

"call!"

Xuanhuang took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, his voice gradually returning to normal after its initial hoarseness and vicissitudes: "Has it been eight thousand years already? Time really flies."

Xuanhuang sighed first, then said, "It's a pity that my Five Elements Dao is not yet perfect, otherwise, with what I gained from listening to the Dao this time, I could break through again."

Eight thousand years of contemplation was enough for Xuanhuang to fully digest and understand all the Dao he heard in Zixiao Palace this time.

It also includes the method of severing the three corpses transmitted by Hongjun.

Xuanhuang absorbed the useful elements of this method and incorporated them into his own path to enlightenment, thus making Xuanhuang's path to enlightenment more complete.

Even so, Xuanhuang still could not break through; his understanding of the Five Elements was not yet complete.

Only by perfecting the Five Elements can we proceed to the next step: reversing the Four Symbols!

However, Xuanhuang failed to break through, but someone else did.

Kunlun Mountain.

Inside a palace, the Taoist Laozi of Taiqing sat silently cross-legged on a futon, meditating on the Tao.

In a daze, he didn't know how much time had passed when suddenly a cloud of auspiciousness appeared above his head.

Qingyun was about the size of an acre of land, yet it seemed to contain boundless space, its size immeasurable.

The auspicious clouds were as clear as water, supporting a pagoda with forty-nine stories, from which streams of mysterious yellow energy cascaded down.

Lao Tzu had also been meditating for over eight thousand years. On this day, suddenly, Lao Tzu's body trembled, and then above the auspicious clouds, the watery clouds seemed to boil, steaming up billowing white mist.

"boom!"

The auspicious cloud trembled, and then all the white mist contracted, revealing a figure above it.

He was also an old man.

He looks exactly like Lao Tzu, but he appears much more kind and benevolent.

At that moment, Lao Tzu suddenly severed his own benevolent incarnation and became a quasi-saint.

Moreover, Lao Tzu's method of severing the three corpses was not achieved by borrowing innate spiritual treasures, but by following the most superior method of severing the three corpses.

The three flowers of essence, energy, and spirit are used to assist in the slaying of the corpse.

Although the three corpses severed using this method will not possess the same powerful magical power as those severed using innate spiritual treasures in a short period of time, they are unlikely to do so immediately.

However, one can also gradually accumulate magical power through cultivation, and given time or opportunity, one will not be inferior to those who have formed the Three Corpses by relying on innate spiritual treasures.

Moreover, such a Three Corpses is the most perfect, unlike the Three Corpses that are severed by borrowing innate spiritual treasures, which would suffer great damage if broken.

It can only be said that Lao Tzu truly deserves to be the head of the Three Pure Ones and the true descendant of Pangu. His aptitude for cultivation far surpasses that of other great beings.

Because, apart from Lao Tzu, none of the other great beings in the past eight thousand years have successfully severed their corpses.

Even Yuanshi and Tongtian, who were both primordial spirits of Pangu like Laozi, failed to succeed.

The method of severing the three corpses is the method to attain primordial chaos and become a saint. Although it is clear, it is by no means simple.

Each time a corpse is severed, it places extremely high demands on one's cultivation, comprehension, opportunities, and even magical power.

It's not that finding a primordial spiritual treasure will make it easy to sever the corpse.

Using a primordial spiritual treasure to sever the corpse is merely a minor step; the fundamental core of severing the corpse remains unchanged.

However, small size is also a kind of advantage. If one can obtain a powerful innate spiritual treasure and refine it, it will indeed make slaying corpses much easier.

Among the many powerful beings who failed, the brothers Di Jun and Tai Yi from the Sun Star are worth mentioning.

The two brothers were ambitious and eager to become quasi-saints as soon as they obtained this method, so as to realize their ambitions.

But repeated failures forced the two to accept the reality.

Even with the right method, success is not guaranteed!

"If I had the help of the stars, perhaps I could succeed. But that Ziwei fellow is truly hateful!" Di Jun thought to himself with resentment.

What comforted him was that there hadn't been any major developments on the Ziwei Star side.

Therefore, logically speaking, Ziwei might have also failed and failed to sever his corpse and become a quasi-saint.

That makes it somewhat acceptable.

However, what Di Jun didn't know was that on this day, Fu Xi also failed to sever his corpse and came out of seclusion to find Zi Wei.

Upon seeing Ziwei, Fuxi was somewhat bewildered.

"Brother Dao, what's wrong with you?" Fuxi blinked, feeling as if he were still dreaming.

Because in his perception, Ziwei's aura had clearly changed.

It was like an endless, vast starry sky, with countless stars constantly rotating, both profound and containing great terror.

He had only ever seen a similar aura on one other person.

That is Xuanhuang.

So, by the same logic, Ziwei also broke through? He failed to sever his corpse, but Ziwei succeeded and became a Quasi-Saint?
