One-Punch Man in the One Piece World
Chapter 120 Double the Demon-Slaying Order's Troop Strength
Chapter 120 Tenfold Demon-Slaying Order Troop Strength
The fortress of G-5 branch trembled amidst the artillery fire.
Steel Hand dodged Vergo's finger gun to the side, the Armament Haki-wrapped fingertips grazing her cheek, tearing a sharp screech through the air.
Instead of retreating, she took a step forward, her right fist retracting to her waist. In the instant her muscles bulged, her fist was already pressed against Vergo's chest.
Boom! !
A dull thud echoed across the fortress platform. Vergo was thrown into the air, the black Armament Haki on his chest cracking under the impact of the punch, and his body slammed into the stone wall behind him like a cannonball.
With a deafening roar, a huge crater appeared in the wall, and rubble rained down, hitting his shoulders and legs, but he didn't move—
It wasn't that he didn't want to move; it was that the power of that punch penetrated his Armament Haki, causing his internal organs to churn.
Steel Hand retracted his fist and flicked his wrist.
"Your Armament Haki is quite good," she said, her tone carrying a hint of genuine admiration.
Vergo leaned against the broken stone wall and stood up. A change finally appeared on his perpetually expressionless face—a trickle of blood spilled from the corner of his mouth, dripping down his chin and staining a small, dark patch on his striped shirt.
He didn't wipe it, but just stared at the steel hand, and for the first time, something like fear appeared in his eyes.
"Who exactly are you?"
"Me?" Steel Hand chuckled, pulled out a flask from his waist, found it was empty, and casually tossed it aside. "A retired old woman, hired by that kid for a billion Berries to work for him."
Vergo fell silent.
He certainly knew that the news of hiring an instructor for a billion Berries was spreading like wildfire in the underworld, but nobody knew who that instructor was. Now he did.
"Shall we continue?" Steel Hand asked.
Vergo did not answer.
Just then, two figures landed behind him, one after the other.
Jinbe landed on the edge of the platform, his broad palms still damp with seawater—he had single-handedly overturned the few warships that had tried to resist in the harbor.
Enel floated in mid-air, golden arcs of electricity crackling around him, looking down at Vergo with a playful smile on his lips.
"That's it?" Enel said. "I thought I'd have to wait a while longer."
Vergo's gaze swept across the three faces.
A woman who could punch right through his Armament Haki. A Fish-Man Karate Master. A Logia-type Rumble-Rumble Fruit User.
There is no chance of winning.
He slowly raised his hands.
"I surrender."
Ten minutes later.
In front of the ruins of the G-5 branch's fortress, the surviving soldiers were gathered in an open area. They squatted on the ground, holding their heads, their faces pale, some trembling, some sobbing softly.
All around were destroyed coastal defenses, wrecked warships billowing black smoke, and wounded soldiers lying haphazardly.
Steel Hand stood atop the highest point of the rubble, looking down at the soldiers.
Who is in charge of communications?
A soldier wearing a communication headset shakily raised his hand.
Steel Hand beckoned to him. The soldier's legs went weak, and he scrambled over, stopping in front of Steel Hand, his legs still shaking.
"Connect the Den Den Mushi, I need to deliver a message."
The soldier frantically pulled out a Den Den Mushi from his pocket and dialed the emergency channel of the Navy Headquarters.
"Poluporu—Poluporu"
A few seconds later, the Den Den Mushi was connected.
The face that appeared was that of Sengoku, majestic and cold, and one could feel the oppressive aura even through the Den Den Mushi.
"Branch G-5, report the situation."
Tsurugi took the Den Den Mushi and smiled at the face.
"Marshal of the Warring States Period, it's been a long time."
The expression on the other end of the Den Den Mushi suddenly froze.
"You are... Steel Hand?"
"Good memory. But I have bad news for you: G-5 branch is gone as of today. I'm taking Vergo with me; these soldiers are yours."
Sengoku's face darkened.
"What do you want to do?"
"I don't want to do anything," Steelhand said. "Just pass on a message from that kid Norton—either lift the blockade, or go to war."
.
She tossed the Den Den Mushi back to the soldier and turned to walk towards the sea.
After walking a few steps, she suddenly stopped and said something without turning her head.
"By the way, Vergo is one of Doflamingo's men. Your navy should check his background before hiring him."
When the news reached Mary Geoise, the Five Elders looked even uglier than Sengoku.
Vergo is Doflamingo's man—what does that mean?
This means that the Shichibukai, the king of Dressrosa, has been planting spies within the Navy.
Moreover, he remained in this position for over a decade, eventually rising to the position of branch head of the G-5 branch.
"Doflamingo—" Jaigollucia Satan's voice was as cold as ice, "What is he going to do?"
No one answered.
But what angered them even more was Norton's ultimatum: "Either lift the blockade or go to war."
How dare a newly established pirate nation challenge the World Government?
"We cannot back down," Topman Vocuri said. "If we back down, member states all over the world will look down on us."
"But that Norton—" Nasujuro paused, "even Kaido lost to him."
There was a few seconds of silence in the room.
"Then send even more people," Marcus Mazsan said. "A fleet ten times the size of the Buster Call, is that enough?"
Meanwhile, in a certain sea area of the New World.
The ship flying the flamingo flag was sailing at full speed.
Doflamingo sat in the cabin, a newly delivered intelligence report spread out in front of him.
The handwriting on that piece of paper was so clear it was almost blinding—
"Vergo's identity has been exposed, and he has been captured by the Norton Pirates."
His hands were shaking.
"Fufu—fufufu—"
He laughed, but his laughter lacked his usual arrogance; instead, it contained a suppressed anger and helplessness.
Vergo.
The person who had been with him since childhood, the person who had done countless dirty jobs for him in the New World, the pawn he had personally arranged to join the Navy and stay there for more than a decade.
He's been arrested by Norton.
"That kid—" Doflamingo gritted his teeth, "He did it on purpose. He absolutely did it on purpose."
He suddenly stood up and paced back and forth in the cabin.
Not going? If Vergo dies there, all his plans of the past ten years will be wasted.
Go? Go to Demon King Island? Go see that monster who punched Kaido away?
"Young Master?" Torrebol asked cautiously, "We—"
"Shut up!"
Doflamingo stopped and stared at the dark sea outside the porthole. The waves crashed against the hull, their crashing sound particularly loud in the silence.
The silence lasted for a long time.
"Turn around," he finally spoke, his voice hoarse and unlike his own. "Go to Demon King Island."
three days later.
The port on Demon King Island is even more deserted than before.
The empty piers swayed slightly in the sea breeze. A few seagulls landed on the wooden stakes, tilting their heads to watch the ship slowly sailing in. The flamingo flag on the sail was particularly eye-catching in the sunlight.
Doflamingo stood at the bow of the ship, his eyes behind his sunglasses fixed on the approaching dock, on the pirates peering out from the dock, and on the newly built council hall in the distance.
"Fufu————"
He chuckled, but the laugh was terribly dry.
The ship has docked.
The gangplank reached the dock, and Doflamingo stepped off the plank, his pink feather coat fluttering in the sea breeze.
Behind him, Torrepol and several cadres followed closely, their faces increasingly grim.
No one was there to greet them at the dock.
Only a few pirates on duty watched from afar, whispering among themselves, their words unknown.
Doflamingo took a deep breath and strode towards the council chamber.
The doors of the council chamber were wide open.
He walked in, through the hall that could hold thousands of people, past the mural-covered domes and massive stone pillars, until he reached the deepest part.
Norton sat in the large chair on the high platform, legs crossed, elbows on the armrests, fingers interlaced against his chin, his gaze fixed on him, calm to the point of being unsettling.
"You're here?"
The tone was as if he were asking a late guest.
Doflamingo stopped in front of him and remained silent for a few seconds.
"Where is Vergo?"
"He's locked up," Norton said. "He's perfectly fine."
Doflamingo took a deep breath.
"I want to redeem him."
"What can be used to redeem it?"
"Money, intelligence, territory." Doflamingo paused. "Name your price."
Norton looked at him without saying a word.
The silence lasted a long time, long enough for Doflamingo's brow to twitch.
"How many times have I advised you against this?" Norton suddenly asked.
Doflamingo was taken aback.
"In Sabaody, I gave you time to consider. In Dressrosa, I sent Moria to deliver a message." Norton's tone was calm, as calm as if he were discussing the weather. "You've considered it for so long, what have you come to?"
Doflamingo's expression changed.
"I attacked the Navy, not your men," Norton continued. "Why should we believe you?"
Doflamingo narrowed his eyes.
"You One"
"What?" Norton sneered. "You say Vergo is your man? Where's the proof?"
Doflamingo's face darkened completely.
He got it.
Norton didn't care who Vergo worked for. He didn't care about the so-called evidence and arguments. He just made up an excuse.
"What do you want?" Doflamingo gritted his teeth, enunciating each word clearly.
Norton looked at him, his gaze calm to the point of being indifferent.
"You know what I want."
Dead silence.
Doflamingo stood there, his pink feather coat swaying slightly in the sea breeze blowing in from the doorway.
Trebol, standing behind him, opened his mouth as if to say something, but Doflamingo stopped him by raising his hand.
Time passed by, second by second.
The council chamber was so quiet that you could hear the distant sound of waves crashing against the pier.
Finally, Doflamingo took a deep breath, slowly bent over, and knelt on one knee.
The pink feather coat draped over the floor, spreading out a dazzling color.
"I surrender."
His voice was hoarse, as hoarse as sandpaper rubbing against stone, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
Norton looked at the man kneeling before him—the King of Dressrosa, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, a middleman in the underworld, and a descendant of the Celestial Dragons.
That face, which always wore an arrogant smile, now held only an extremely suppressed and complex emotion.
"Fufu—" Doflamingo chuckled, but the laugh was terribly dry. "Are you satisfied now?"
Norton did not answer.
He simply leaned back in his chair, his gaze passing over Doflamingo kneeling before him and landing on the sunlit stone slab at the entrance to the hall.
The silence lasted for a long time.
"Get up," Norton finally said.
Doflamingo stood up and patted non-existent dust off his knees.
"Where is Vergo?"
"I'll pay you back," Norton said, "but not now."
Doflamingo nodded and didn't ask any more questions.
He turned and walked towards the door, but after a few steps, he suddenly stopped.
"Norton." He didn't turn around, but kept his back to the man sitting on the platform. "Do you know what this news means?"
"Know."
"There are only three Shichibukai left," Doflamingo said. "The Empress, Hawkeye, and Tyrant. The World Government won't stand idly by."
Norton remained silent.
Doflamingo waited a few seconds but received no response. He shook his head and strode out of the council chamber.
The news spread faster than anyone expected.
Morgans' newspaper was spread to every corner of the New World the next day.
The headline on the front page was jet black—
[The fourth Shichibukai submits to the Demon King! Doflamingo kneels in surrender!]
The subtitle was equally ruthless: "King of Dressrosa Joins Norton Kingdom, Only Three of the Former Seven Warlords Remain Unsubdued!"
"At this point, four of the original Seven Warlords of the Sea have joined the Kingdom of Norton: Crocodile, Moria, Jinbe, and Doflamingo. Only three remain: Boa Hancock of Amazon Lily, Dracule Mihawk, and Bartholomew Kuma."
"Everyone realized that a peerless hero, no less than Rocks or Roger, was rising."
Kaido has been defeated head-on—the man known as the strongest creature on land, sea, and air could only retreat in panic before those fists.
What does this mean? It means that Norton, having defeated Kaido, is now the undisputed "strongest in the world."
"The new world order has been completely rewritten."
Mary Geoise.
The newspaper was spread out in front of the Five Elders, the edges of the paper crumpled from being pinched.
"Doflamingo—" Jaigollucia Satan's voice was as cold as ice, "He went too."
"It's not just him," said Topman Vochuli Saint. "Crocodile, Moria, and Jinbe, the four Shichibukai, are all now under that silver-haired kid's command."
"And then there's Branch G-5," Marcus Mazsan added. "That branch was razed to the ground. Vergo was taken away and hasn't been released yet."
There was a few seconds of silence in the room.
"So what do you mean?"
"A fleet," Nasujiro said, "a fleet ten times larger than the Buster Call fleet. Send all available warships there, surround that island, and bomb it flat."
"What about the common people?"
"We can't worry about that now."
Silence descended once more.
Jaigolusia Satan Saint's gaze swept across the faces of the other four people, and then he slowly nodded.
I second that.
I second that.
I second that.
I second that.
Five people, five votes, unanimously approved.
"There's one more thing," Marcus Mazsan said. "Those few traitors from the Seven Warlords of the Sea, all of their Warlord titles will be revoked. Their bounties will be doubled."
"Let's do it this way."
Marine Headquarters, Marineford.
When the order came, Sengoku was reading the newspaper in his office.
.
He stared at the blurry photo on the front page, at the kneeling pink figure, at the dense text, his brows furrowing deeper and deeper.
Staff Officer He pushed open the door and came in, holding a document he had just received.
"The orders are in." She placed the documents on the table. "A fleet ten times larger than the Buster Call. Send every warship you can mobilize."
Sengoku didn't speak, he just stared at the document.
"And one more thing," Tsuru continued, "Crocodile, Moria, Jinbe, and Doflamingo—all of their Shichibukai positions have been removed. Their bounties have been doubled."
Zhan Guo took a deep breath and leaned back in his chair.
"Do they know what this means?"
The crane did not answer.
The office door was pushed open again.
Akainu strode in, a rare hint of excitement on his usually cold and hard face.
When will the fleet depart?
Sengoku looked at him and remained silent for a few seconds.
"You really want to go?"
"Of course," Akainu's voice was resolute. "That lawless pirate nation should have been wiped out long ago. Now is the perfect opportunity."
Sengoku did not answer. He simply turned his head and looked out the window at the vast blue sea.
Garp appeared at the door at some point, carrying a bag of senbei (rice crackers) and crunching away.
"Oh, in a meeting?"
"Mr. Garp," Akainu frowned, "now is not the time to eat senbei."
"Huh?" Karp glanced at him, then at the document on the table. "Oh, that one, you guys are going to beat up that Norton kid?"
"Yes."
Kapu paused for a moment while chewing the rice cracker.
"Be careful," he said, his tone unusually serious.
Akainu paused for a moment, then snorted coldly.
"How many of these fleets, ten times the size of the Buster Call, can he hold off?"
Garp didn't answer. He simply hugged the bag of senbei, turned, and walked out. In the corridor, Kizaru leaned against the wall, hands in his pockets, a lazy expression on his face.
"Yo, Mr. Garp~"
Karp glanced at him.
What do you think?
"What do you think?" Kizaru tilted his head. "That kid—I can't beat him."
He spoke so frankly, as if he were simply saying that the weather was nice today.
"Is a fleet ten times the size of the Buster Call enough?"
Kizaru thought for a moment.
"I don't know~ But I think Mr. Sengoku probably doesn't think much of it either~"
He yawned and swayed away.
Garp stood there, watching his retreating figure, then looked out the window at the sea.
In the distance, the clouds hung low, and a layer of grayish-white waves rose on the sea.
It's going to change.
Demon King Island.
After news of Doflamingo's surrender arrived, the port seemed to quiet down a bit.
Those who were watching from the sidelines are starting to get restless again. Even Doflamingo has knelt down. Maybe this Norton Kingdom can really succeed?
But Norton ignored them.
He simply stood by the window of the council chamber, gazing at the distant sea.
Kro stood behind him, holding the newspaper in his hand.
"Empress, Hawkeye, Tyrant," Kro said. "Only these three are left."
"No rush," Norton said.
Kro nodded without asking any questions.
Outside the window, the sea breeze, carrying a salty, fishy smell, blew in and ruffled Norton's silver hair.
On the distant horizon, some dark dots could be vaguely seen—naval reconnaissance ships, sailing around the island at a distance, neither daring to approach nor leave.
War is imminent.
