Chapter 117 All Parties in Motion
"understood."
Norton's tone was calm.
Kro looked at him, waiting for him to continue.
Norton didn't say anything more; he just stared at the sea of people, lost in thought.
The silence lasted for several minutes.
"Crocodile," Norton suddenly spoke.
Kro was taken aback.
"You mean—"
"Bring him over," Norton said. "He's been idle in Alabasta for so long, it's time he got some exercise."
Kro thought for a moment and nodded.
"Mr. 1 and Paula are here, should we have them deliver the message?"
"OK."
That afternoon, a speedboat departed from Demon King Island and headed at full speed towards the first half of the Grand Line.
The commotion in Nestad continued for a full week.
Every day new ships dock, and every day new faces crowd into the town.
Pirates from Fishman Island, outlaws wandering the edge of the New World, and those who packed their bags overnight after hearing the name "Demon King" poured in.
The line of pirates stretched from the dock all the way to the town entrance, their cursing and swearing never ceasing day and night.
Kro has not slept for three days.
He stood on high ground, looking at the sea of people, and pushed up his glasses, the lenses reflecting a tired light.
"Eighteen thousand people----"
he murmured.
"If we stay a few more days, this town won't be able to accommodate everyone."
Just then, a figure stumbled out of the dense forest north of the town.
Dalton.
He was covered in blood, his left arm hanging at an odd angle, and there was a deep, bone-revealing claw mark on his chest, with the flesh torn open to reveal the white ribs inside. With each step he took, he left a pool of blood on the ground.
Several pirates cried out and rushed over to help him up.
"Captain Dalton!"
"Quickly call Chopper!"
Dalton waved his hand, signaling them not to panic, panting heavily as he searched the crowd, finally settling on the silver-haired figure standing on a high place in the distance.
"king————"
He opened his mouth, his voice hoarse like sandpaper.
"Found it————"
Norton jumped down from the height and walked a few steps to him.
"That fruit?"
Dalton nodded. He swallowed hard and said haltingly, "On the north side of the island—there's a big mountain—in the cave—I saw it—the fruit—"
As he spoke, he swayed and almost fell over.
Norton helped him up.
"What are you guarding?"
"Bear----"
A flicker of fear crossed Dalton's eyes.
"A giant bear—bigger than any monster we've ever seen—covered in black fur harder than iron—my attacks didn't even leave a mark on it."
He paused, then coughed up a mouthful of blood.
"It slapped me—and sent me flying—if it weren't for the people of Ivanki risking their lives to save me, I would have died there—"
The pirates turned pale as they looked at Dalton's injuries and listened to his words.
They've been on this island for so long, they know how terrifying those monsters are.
What could have nearly killed Dalton?
Norton nodded.
"Chopper!"
Chopper squeezed through the crowd, followed by several members of the 20 doctors. It looked at Dalton's wounds, its blue nose wrinkling.
"How did you get injured like this again! Can you please..."
"Treat the injury first."
Norton interrupted it.
Chopper opened his mouth, but in the end he didn't say anything. He then told his men to carry Dalton away.
Norton turned around, his gaze sweeping across the crowd.
Enel.
A moment later, a golden bolt of lightning shot from a distance and landed in front of Norton.
Enel folded his wings, crossed his arms, and wore a lazy expression.
"What do you want with me?"
"Go to the north side of the island and find a big mountain," Norton said. "There's a cave in the mountain, and inside the cave is a Devil Fruit. Bring it back."
Enel raised an eyebrow.
"this one?"
"There was a giant bear guarding it." Norton paused. "Dalton almost died there."
Enel's expression became slightly more serious.
"What level?"
"I don't know," Norton said, "but whatever could nearly kill Dalton must be quite powerful."
Enel was silent for two seconds, then grinned.
"interesting."
"Just wait, I'll be back soon."
As soon as he finished speaking, he transformed into a golden bolt of lightning and shot towards the dense forest to the north, instantly disappearing into the clouds.
Meanwhile, at the port, a ship was preparing to depart.
Moriah stood at the bow of the ship, his pale face bearing his signature smile.
"Hehehehe 1"
He was laughing so hard it was almost eerie.
Behind them, the Second Division's ships were already loaded with supplies and manpower. Three hundred pirates, five ships, sailed away from the port in a grand procession.
Fu Ning stood on the dock, watching the fleet sail away, feeling somewhat worried.
"Will sending Moriah cause trouble?"
"If anything happened, it was Doflamingo who got into trouble." Skull chuckled. "That kid's been holding back his anger lately, it'll be good for him to vent it."
Fu Ning thought for a moment and nodded.
Dressrosa.
Under the bright sunshine and amidst blooming flowers, five ships flying the flag of the Norton Pirates slowly docked.
The people on the dock had long since dispersed.
The workers who were loading and unloading cargo, the sailors standing on the ship's side, and the passing merchants all kept their distance.
Peeking in this direction, they looked over cautiously.
The Norton Pirates!
The pirate crew of the Demon King who sent Kaido flying.
What are you doing in Dressrosa?
Moriah jumped off the ship and landed on the stone slabs of the dock.
"Hehehehe—Doflamingo, an old friend has arrived, aren't you going to come out and greet him?"
As soon as the words were spoken, a pink figure descended from the sky.
Doflamingo landed in front of him, his face bearing his signature smile, his pink feather coat shimmering in the sunlight, and his eyes narrowed into slits behind his gold-rimmed sunglasses.
"Oh my, isn't this Gecko Moria?"
He spread his arms wide, making an exaggerated welcoming gesture.
"What wind blew you to Dressrosa?"
Moria looked at him without saying a word.
Doflamingo's smile froze for a moment, but he quickly recovered, lowered his arm, turned to the side, and made a gesture of invitation.
"Since you're here, don't just stand there. Come on, let's go to the palace and have a seat. I'll have the best wine prepared."
Moria nodded and followed him toward the palace.
Behind them, the members of the Second Division remained at the port, staring at each other in bewilderment with Doflamingo's subordinates.
Inside the palace, a banquet hall was already set up with food and drink.
Doflamingo sat in the main seat, and Moria sat opposite him.
The two men each held a wine glass and drank several rounds; the atmosphere seemed fairly harmonious.
"Moria," Doflamingo put down his glass, "you didn't come to see me just to drink, did you?"
Moria laughed.
"Of course not." He put down his glass, looked at Doflamingo, and his eyes flashed with a complex light.
"I'm here to deliver a message."
"To pass on a message?"
“Yes,” Moria said. “Norton sent me to tell you—surrender.”
Doflamingo's smile froze.
"What?"
"Submit," Moria repeated. "Join the Norton Pirates and become his subordinate."
The air in the banquet hall seemed to freeze.
Doflamingo stared at Moria, his smile gradually fading.
"Fufufufu—Moria, are you kidding me?"
"I never joke about this kind of thing."
"Do you know what you're saying?" Doflamingo's smile vanished completely.
"I know." Moria didn't move, but simply sat in his seat, picked up his glass, and took a sip.
"Then how dare you say such a thing?"
"Because that's what Norton meant."
Doflamingo suddenly turned around, his eyes behind his sunglasses fixed on Moria.
After a few seconds of silence, Doflamingo suddenly laughed.
"Fufufufufufu—Interesting! Really interesting!"
He stopped laughing, looked at Moria, and the light in his eyes turned dangerous.
The next second, several transparent thin lines shot out from his fingertips, heading straight for Moria's throat!
Moria dodged to the side, and at the same time, the shadow beneath his feet suddenly expanded, transforming into a black barrier in front of him!
"Ding ding ding!"
The thin threads struck the shadow, sparking a few flecks before bouncing away.
Doflamingo withdrew his hand, looked at the black shadow, and a cold smile appeared on his lips.
"Shadow-Shadow Fruit—still so troublesome."
Moriah stood up, and the shadow beneath his feet began to ripple.
"Hehehehe—you're still as cunning as ever, Doflamingo."
The two men stared at each other, the air thick with the smell of gunpowder.
The next second, the two of them moved at the same time!
Doflamingo flicked his fingers, sending countless fine threads raining down on Moria! Those threads were incredibly sharp, slicing tables and chairs to pieces and leaving deep scratches on the walls wherever they passed!
Moriah's shadow expanded, transforming into countless black tentacles that rushed towards the thin threads! The shadow and the threads collided, producing a piercing friction sound and sparks flying!
The two moved swiftly through the banquet hall, exchanging blows, separating, and then exchanging blows again! Doflamingo's String-String Fruit was flexible and unpredictable, while Moria's Shadow-Shadow Fruit was strange and unpredictable; for a time, neither could gain the upper hand.
boom!
Moria's shadow transformed into a giant fist and smashed towards Doflamingo!
Doflamingo leaped to dodge, and at the same time drew his finger downwards—five-colored lines!
Five thin, colorful lines shot from his fingertips, slashing towards Moria!
Moria's shadow instantly shrank, condensing into a black shield in front of him!
Ding Ding Ding Ding!
Five crisp sounds rang out, sparks flew! Five deep scratches appeared on the Shadow Shield, but it wasn't cut open!
The two retreated simultaneously, facing each other at a distance of more than ten meters.
The banquet hall was completely unrecognizable.
The exquisite furniture was shattered on the floor, the walls were covered with scratches and cracks, and the crystal chandelier had fallen to the ground and broken into countless pieces.
Doflamingo, panting heavily, stared at Moria.
Moriah wasn't much better off.
His clothes were torn in several places, revealing pale skin underneath. But he was laughing, laughing even more happily than before.
"Hehehehe—Doflamingo, after all these years, is this all you've got?"
Doflamingo's face turned ashen.
"You're not much better, Moria."
Neither of them made another move.
Because they all knew that if they continued fighting, the outcome would not be determined in a short period of time.
Just then, Moria pulled a small Den Den Mushi from his pocket.
Doflamingo's eyes narrowed slightly.
"What is this?"
Moria didn't answer. He simply dialed the number.
"Poluporu—Poluporu-i"
The Den Den Mushi rang a few times before being answered.
A silver-haired face appeared on the Den Den Mushi's face.
"Moria?"
The voice came from the Den Den Mushi, calm and deep, yet carrying an undeniable power.
Doflamingo's pupils suddenly contracted.
Norton.
"King," Moria said, "Doflamingo is here. He refuses to submit."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the Den Den Mushi.
Then the voice sounded again.
Doflamingo.
Doflamingo's fingers tightened involuntarily.
"I'll give you two choices," Norton said calmly. "One, come to Demon Island to see me. Two, I'll go to Dressrosa to find you myself."
A faint static came through the Den Den Mushi, then the voice continued, "Which one do you choose?"
The banquet hall was deathly silent.
Doflamingo stood there, motionless, his face changing repeatedly, from ashen to pale, from pale to flushed, finally settling on a complex and indescribable expression.
"I will go." After a long pause, he finally spoke.
On the other end of the Den Den Mushi, Norton hummed in agreement and then hung up.
"Polu".
The Den Den Mushi's eyes closed, and the face disappeared.
Moria put away the Den Den Mushi, looked at Doflamingo, and his smile deepened.
"Hehehehe—then we'll wait for you on Demon King Island, Doflamingo."
He turned and walked towards the door. After a few steps, he suddenly stopped and said something without turning his head.
"By the way, you'll have to repair the damage to the banquet hall yourself."
After saying that, he pushed open the door and went out.
Doflamingo stood alone in the devastated banquet hall for a very long time, without moving.
Marine Headquarters, Marineford.
The atmosphere in the huge conference room was so heavy it was almost palpable.
The long table was full of people.
The Warring States Marshal sat in the main seat, his hands crossed and resting on his chin, his face expressionless.
Staff Officer He sat next to him, with a stack of documents in front of him.
The three admirals, Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru, sat in their respective seats, each with a different expression.
Below them were a dozen or so lieutenant generals.
Onigumo, Doberman, and Stroberry—each is a pillar of the Navy.
The Warring States period began.
"Have you read the newspapers?"
No one speaks.
"Kaido lost," Sengoku continued, his voice low. "He was defeated head-on by Norton. The Beasts Pirates retreated in panic, and even Kaido was knocked away."
99
He paused.
"You should understand what this means."
Akainu was the first to speak, his voice as cold as ice.
"This means that Norton has already surpassed the Four Emperors in strength."
"It's not just about strength," Staff Officer He continued, "Look at this."
She pushed a stack of documents to the center of the table.
"The coordinates of Demon King Island have been released. In just one week, at least tens of thousands of people have flocked to that island. Those pirates who just entered the New World from Fishman Island, those desperados who couldn't make it on the fringes of the New World, they've all gone there."
She raised her head and glanced at everyone present.
"He was building a nation. And he succeeded."
A low murmur arose in the conference room.
Aokiji leaned back in his chair and yawned.
"So what can we do?"
The Warring States period was silent for a few seconds.
"That's the problem."
He stood up, walked to the window, and looked out at the vast blue sea.
"What are the consequences of a monster surpassing the Four Emperors appearing? Just think of Rocks."
Rocks.
The moment that name was uttered, the conference room fell silent.
The Rocks Pirates. The pirate crew that once nearly overturned the world. The man that Roger and Garp had to defeat together.
If Norton really goes that far—
"We must stop him." Sengoku turned around. "We can't let the Norton Pirates continue to grow."
"How can we stop it?"
Kizaru spoke lazily.
"We can't win! Mr. Garp lost, and so did I! That guy doesn't even know how to use Haki; he just used his fists to send Kaido flying! How are we supposed to beat him?"
Akainu snorted coldly.
"We've deployed three top generals to take action together."
"The risk is too great." Staff Officer Tsuru shook his head. "Kizaru has lost, Garp has lost. If the three admirals go together and win, that's fine, but what if they lose—"
She didn't finish her sentence, but everyone understood what she meant.
If they lose, the navy will be completely finished.
"Then let the Four Emperors deal with him," Onigumo suggested. "Let them fight like dogs."
"Why should the Four Emperors listen to us?" Doberman retorted.
Silence fell over the meeting room again.
Looking at those faces, some solemn and some helpless, Zhan Guo suddenly felt a little tired.
He recalled that just a few months ago, that name was just a newcomer in Donghai.
Who would have thought that he would have reached this position in just a few months?
"Let's adjourn the meeting."
He finally said.
"This matter needs to be considered carefully."
Everyone got up and left the meeting room one after another.
A man from the Warring States period stood by the window, gazing at the sea.
Much later, he whispered something.
Is this world really heading into chaos?
No one answered him.
