Eternal Beast Taming Family

Chapter 21 Purchasing Land

After a whole morning of getting acquainted, Chu Shengfan learned the name of the eccentric young man.

Chen Gengcai, a name that doesn't quite match his outward appearance.

The two spent the morning touring the town mayor's office and learn about the responsibilities of each department. They returned to the logistics department at noon.

Lunch was delivered by a special person. After everyone received their food, Director Bai left, and the group began to talk about the topics that had been hastily concluded that morning.

A thin young man with a shrewd look in his eyes spoke up, "It seems the news about villagers disappearing without a trace is true. This morning I saw the town mayor rushing out with a furious expression."

"The mayor is really unlucky; he's encountered such a difficult problem right after taking office," someone said, feeling sorry for him.

"Do you think someone might be trying to intimidate the mayor?" someone whispered.

His words caused the atmosphere to freeze for a moment. Although those present were of limited ability and could only stay in the logistics department doing odd jobs, they were not stupid.

The man had practically made it clear that the Liu family was behind it. A man next to him, who was on good terms with him, immediately put down his chopsticks and patted him on the shoulder.

He warned in a low voice, "Are you crazy? You can't say something like that."

He chuckled at the people around him, "This is no small matter after all. It will probably alarm the county. Let's just wait for the outcome."

The person who had spoken earlier realized his mistake and quickly shut his mouth, saying nothing more, and simply lowered his head to eat.

"This snowfall is strange. Apart from us and Yuzhen, the rest of the place still has clear autumn skies and crisp air. It's probably not just a simple change in the weather."

The one who spoke was a man who looked strong and had a quiet personality.

His words caused everyone present to change their expressions. "What does Brother Shi mean?" someone asked calmly.

The man who spoke earlier was from the Shi family, one of the three major families in the town, so the others inevitably had to think more about what he said.

"It's nothing more than that there are powerful source beasts stationed outside the border, aiming at us and Jade Town. However, I don't know what it is about Jade Town that would attract source beasts capable of changing the heavens."

Furthermore, these celestial changes originated within the town; someone was deliberately altering the weather.

Zhang Ling packed up his lunchbox and then said, "Above the Spirit Rank is the Domain Realm, and the celestial phenomena that can change the environment of a region are the marks of the source beasts of this realm."

I think someone is trying to reach a higher level, which is why this change in the celestial phenomena occurred.

His nonchalant expression turned serious, and his tone became wistful, "The evolution of a Source Beast requires materials and a ritual, but I wonder what kind of firewood it needs?"

The two people who spoke were from the Zhang and Shi families, respectively. Although their words were ambiguous, the information they revealed was already worth pondering by everyone.

Now, very few people in the room still had the appetite to eat, and their faces showed a hint of sadness.

A thoughtful look flashed across Chen Gengcai's eyes. His seat was next to Chu Shengfan's. "I heard your family lives in the village. Should we send this message home and tell them to keep an eye out for you?"

Chu Shengfan put down his chopsticks, his eyebrows twitching slightly with unease, and said with a smile, "Thank you for the reminder, Brother Chen. I will send this message home as soon as possible."

Looking at Chu Shengfan's mature demeanor, Chen Geng felt speechless. He had asked the boy about his background countless times that morning.

All they knew was that they came from a mountain village, but they couldn't find out anything about their family members or their financial situation.

He said he was able to take this position because his family hadn't told him the reason, and he came as soon as they asked him to.

Chen Geng sighed inwardly, "What a strange child with such a dull mind. He's so young and already so thoughtful. What will he be like when he gets older?"

Chu Shengfan silently finished his meal, then looked quietly out the window. Before he knew it, snowflakes began to fall again.

He wonders what his family is doing now. After the initial confusion of leaving home, he has now completely calmed down, but he is starting to miss home.

……

Fuhe Village.

Chu Jingyu, who had secretly escorted Chu Shengfan into the town, returned safely. Instead of climbing the mountain to return home first, he went to the village.

He arrived at the village chief's house with familiarity with the place. He didn't encounter anyone else on the way. Every household had its doors and windows tightly closed, trying to preserve the warmth that had been hard to come by inside.

'Bang bang bang'

A few muffled knocks on the door.

"Who is it?" A childish voice rang out from inside the courtyard.

"Xiaoling, I need to talk to your grandfather."

Chu Jingyu's voice seemed to be recognized by the people inside the courtyard, and the courtyard gate was quickly opened.

"Grandpa Chu, my grandfather is in the main room. Please come over." A petite and delicate-looking woman appeared from inside the door.

Chu Jingyu nodded to her and went straight into the main room.

Inside the main room, the village chief and his family sat around the stove: the village chief, his two sons, his eldest daughter-in-law, his two grandsons, and his granddaughter. Xiao Ling, who opened the door for Chu Jingyu, was also there, making a total of eight people in the family.

"Brother Chu, what brings you here?"

When Chu Jingyu entered, the others also looked on curiously, but when the village chief spoke, they had no right to speak, so they all watched in silence.

"I have something I'd like to ask the village chief for help with."

Hearing Chu Jingyu say this, the village chief rubbed his fingertips together in his palm a few times. "Brother Chu, you flatter me. You have helped our village so much over the years. If you need anything, just ask."

Chu Jingyu smiled and said, "It's not a difficult thing. I'd like to buy a few acres of fertile land and some mountain land in our village."

The village chief's mind stirred slightly at the prospect of buying fertile land. "Fertile land is easy to sell. There are still quite a few public fields in the village. I can decide how many acres you want and sell them to you directly."

But for this mountainous area, it seems we'll have to go to town to process it. And who knows when the weather will clear up? It'll probably be a few days.

Chu Jingyu waved his hand, "I'm not in a hurry. We can buy some fertile land today."

"Alright," the village chief nodded, then kicked a middle-aged man in the backside and instructed, "Go and invite the elders over to be witnesses."

The middle-aged man was an honest and simple man. He didn't show any dissatisfaction when his father kicked his butt for no reason. He just mumbled "Yes," wrapped his clothes around himself, and went out.

Because it was public land in the village, the necessary money was paid, and with the elders of the clan as witnesses, the deed was divorced. The ten acres of fertile land then belonged to the Chu family, and Chu Jingyu also purchased an additional thirty acres of ordinary farmland.

The land is the root of a family. The village chief looked at the deed in his hand and a genuine smile appeared in his eyes, which showed that the Chu family was willing to settle down here.

After so many years of getting along, he could feel that the Chu family was kind, and Chu Jingyu was also a contract master. With them established in the village, Fuhe Village would probably be able to advance to the top three villages soon.

When the contract was signed, Chu Mu received feedback.

Yuanling received another sum of money.
