Primordial Era: The Great Serpent of Yunmeng

Chapter 16 Unexpected Reinforcements and the "Crisis" of the Creatures of Yunmeng Marsh

Chapter 16 Unexpected Reinforcements and the "Crisis" of the Creatures of Yunmeng Marsh

Relying on the great formation for defense, Qi and the others spent a century in peace.

However, judging by the timeline, the real offensive is imminent, as the ferocious beasts have already surrounded Yunmengze.

According to calculations, it will take another eight eons to end.

This is based on the speed at which the beast tide advances. Given their mode of movement, it would take at least five eons for most of them to converge on the northern continent.

With the gathering of all the ferocious beasts of the primordial era, their astonishing appetites, and the need to contend with a great calamity, the northern continent will likely become a desolate wasteland in the future.

Barren soil cannot nurture healthy life, nor is it suitable for the strong to settle down.

Damage to the earth's veins can be repaired, but if the earth's spiritual energy is lost, then things will be very difficult.

Innate deities seek out places rich in spiritual energy to establish their temples, preach, and accept disciples, because the abundance of spiritual energy is related to the number of talented people in a region.

It seems unlikely that there will be any strong lineages in the Northern Continent in the future, and the creatures of the North will face difficulties in their pursuit of education.

The importance of preserving the Taoist tradition makes it difficult for anyone to easily decide to settle in the North.

After all, all the ferocious beasts in the entire prehistoric world are in the north, and they have survived for at least two Yuanhui. With the final battle of another Yuanhui, the creatures in the north will suffer many disasters!

As Qi deduced the great calamity based on the beast tide, outside the great formation:

"Why has the beast tide stopped?" a tall, thin Taoist priest asked.

"I don't know, but it's probably for the best!"

As the short, stout Taoist answered the question, he summoned his magical treasure, a precious mirror.

"What's so good about it?" the tall, thin Taoist priest asked, puzzled.

"So that I can deal a severe blow to these wet-born, egg-laying beasts!"

After he finished speaking, the magic mirror emitted beams of brilliant divine light.

This divine light is extraordinary; it emits five colors, each representing one of the five elements. It changes upon touching an object, with the five elements circulating.

It can injure enemies by using the power of the five elements to counteract each other. All things in the world are within the five elements, and everything within the five elements is countered by this divine light!

The divine light shone upon the horde of beasts, instantly causing chaos and destruction, with the screams of the ferocious beasts echoing endlessly.

Weaker, more sluggish beasts, upon being exposed to this light, immediately had their skin torn open and their flesh ripped apart. After a few more blows, they turned into blood and water, leaving only white bones on the spot.

Streaks of divine light darted wildly through the beast tide, constantly reflecting off other creatures, until a terrifying roar erupted.

The sound waves, imbued with special power, extinguished the divine light.

A series of earth-shaking footsteps rang out, and a colossal beast, over 150,000 feet tall, charged toward the two.

"Run!" the short, fat Taoist priest shouted.

"I know without you saying it!" the tall, thin Taoist replied, his hands forming a hand seal.

A water stream appeared beside the two, swept them up, shrank them into a ball, and they vanished into thin air!

It was as if there was a water eye in the sky, causing the water to form a vortex that pulled the two into the water eye and then disappeared.

Upon seeing this, the giant beast roared angrily, but before it could stop, another explosion came from the other direction, so it had to rush there again.

In a long river hundreds of millions of miles away, a whirlpool suddenly appeared on the originally calm surface, and the fat and thin Taoists flew out from it.

"Pah! Pah! Pah! You always end up drinking a bellyful of water every time you use it. Why don't you improve your water-escape technique?"

"The fat Taoist priest complained."

"It's already being improved. Being able to lead you is already a huge step forward! If it weren't for these bastards, we might have succeeded."

At this point, the two fell silent. They had been cultivating in the mountains when a horde of ferocious beasts stormed the area.

The ferocious beasts that were once looked down upon and regarded as nourishment for the temple were driven away after the beast tide, leaving the temple to be destroyed and the spiritual energy lost.

Their hearts are bleeding!

So many sects, the dojo where they had lived since their birth and awakening, were destroyed just like that, simply and brutally wiped out. How could they easily let the beast tide go?

So they just hung behind the beast tide, waiting for the chance to be attacked by it.

However, as the beast tide grew larger and stronger ferocious beasts appeared, their opportunities became fewer and fewer.

However, there were other like-minded people who cooperated tacitly and inflicted considerable casualties.

Others may not know, but the two of them decided to pursue the beast tide until it reached the northern continent.

At that point, they were too exhausted to pursue them. After all, while revenge was important, life was obviously more important.

We can find another training ground. If we can pursue them all the way to the northern continent, then we can at least say we've done right by ourselves.

Of course, that's one way, but some others are determined to fight the beast tide to the bitter end!

Many innate beings, who can also be considered innate deities, simply chose to reproduce and multiply, transforming from solitary individuals into a race.

Stronger ones include dragons, phoenixes, and qilin, while weaker ones include Qingqiu foxes, Tengshe snakes, and white tigers.

Their first generation were all the purest innate deities, but their descendants would always become ordinary beings.

Even if one's bloodline is strong and one's strength surpasses that of many innate saints, one is no longer an innate saint.

Cultivation requires self-improvement, and opportunities must be seized by oneself.

Innate deities, regardless of when they are born or how strong they are, are all people of the same generation who are nurtured by heaven and earth and whose Dao fruits are flawless.

Those innate deities who have offspring can still survive the beast tide.

If it is discovered too late, the bloodline is most likely to be lost!

They poured so much effort into this project, as descendants who inherit their traditions and unite their emotions.

After they ceased to exist, they basically decided to fight the ferocious beast to the death.

These innate deities may all undergo a tribulation, truly experiencing tribulation in the Northern Continent!

While Qi was in the formation, unaware that more than ten innate saints were constantly attacking and interfering with the beast tide from all sides.

A large portion of them remained unknown even after the great catastrophe ended.

During this great calamity, many innate deities also departed and returned, and it is unknown how long it will be before they return.

At this moment, Qi, Taiyi, and the others were still welcoming the newly arrived ferocious beast.

It seemed as if they were inexhaustible, and this beast tide in Yunmengze was only one of twelve large beast tides from the southern continent.

The southern continent was the smallest of the prehistoric continents.

The ferocious beasts of the Southern Continent, apart from those of the Northern Continent, have caused the most damage to the prehistoric world.

Because it is the longest route and passes through the most mountains and rivers, the damage is also the most severe.

Qi and the others were also on high alert, as such wonderful times of using formations to kill each other would not last long.

Once the ferocious beasts realize what's happening, they probably won't enter the formation again, and Qi won't let them in either.

They might be using their supernatural powers to attack the formation from the outside, and letting them in would inevitably lead to them working together from within and without, making the situation more difficult.

According to everyone's estimates, this practice of releasing ferocious beasts into the formation to kill them is likely to last only a few years, maybe less than ten years.

The ferocious beasts have now basically surrounded Yunmeng Marsh. Ten years is enough for them to completely encircle it and begin to bombard the great formation with their supernatural powers.

Therefore, the next few years will be the last chance for the creatures of Yunmengze to survive this great calamity.

If we can catch it and survive, then we will soar to new heights after this ordeal.

If they can't catch them, all that's left for them is death!

P.S.: I'm still shamelessly asking for votes. I hope everyone will leave more comments and show more support. Things will get better in a couple of days, and I'll try to update more frequently then.
