Chapter 25 Prelude to the Massacre

There are three options again. The first is the classic extreme sliding kneeling solution, and the second is the classic extreme slaughter solution. There's not much to say about it; you can't choose it at a glance.

The only option that appears to be a choice is actually only the third one:

"Heaven and earth are ruthless, treating all things like straw dogs..."

Zhao Si knew this phrase like the back of his hand; it appeared in almost every cultivation novel.

Many people interpret this as "Heaven's Way is a wicked force, manipulating all things!" This is a misinterpretation. The true meaning is:

Heaven and earth show no favoritism; they treat all things equally.

This reflects Lao Tzu's simple materialism. He was influenced by the backward worldview of ancient times, so he did not deny the existence of "gods" who transcended matter, nor could he provide any evidence to deny it.

However, Lao Tzu did not believe that "gods" would have human emotions, so the "gods" in his writings would not marry or have children, nor would they spread faith, let alone save or have pity on the world. Even if they existed, it would be as if they did not exist.

This is what is called "Tao".

The "Tao" in Taoism and the "Tao" in the Daoist religion are not the same thing.

In the primordial world setting, the Heavenly Dao is basically like this: impartial and aloof, with infinite power, but it does not favor any thing.

It was so fair that when Di Jun learned that the human race was the "protagonist of heaven and earth" personally certified by the Heavenly Dao, his entire Dao heart almost collapsed!

To use a somewhat inappropriate analogy, it's like a family with two children. From a young age, the parents treated them equally, never showing favoritism. The two children were used to this, and although they both felt that they were their parents' true love, neither of them had any objections to this equal treatment.

But one day, a person suddenly came to our house, called out "Mom and Dad" and asked why we two, whom we found, were staying in his house.

This left you both completely bewildered, especially since your parents even admitted it themselves:

Yes, you two aren't our biological children. This one is our real son, and he'll inherit the family fortune...

It wasn't just like being struck by lightning; it was like the sky was falling and the earth was splitting apart!

From this perspective, it's not entirely incomprehensible that Di Jun, in his collapsed state, desperately wanted to slaughter people.

But the problem is, apart from being approved by the Heavenly Dao, the human race has not done anything bad, so it doesn't make sense to start a massacre!

If we absolutely have to find a scapegoat, then we can't blame the human race; we can only look at the instigator:

Heaven!

After thinking for a moment, Zhao Si clicked on her choice:

"C!"

[You chose option C. Heaven and Earth are ruthless, treating all things like straw dogs. If Heaven and Earth showed favoritism, then Heaven's way is wrong!]

You solemnly attributed all the problems to the will of Heaven, believing that since Heaven caused all this, then you should blame Heaven!

[Your words drew surprise and a sidelong glance from Di Jun, but you didn't see anything wrong with them at all, and became more and more agitated, claiming that if the Heavenly Dao is guilty, then it doesn't deserve to be called the Heavenly Dao!]

[You, full of vigor and ambition, pointed out the flaws in the world, suggesting that the Heavenly Emperor organize all the great supernatural beings of the primordial world, and issue a widespread declaration to all living beings denouncing the sins of the Heavenly Dao, so that all living beings could jointly condemn the corrupt Heavenly Dao, and finally lead all the great supernatural beings to fight their way to the outer Chaos Heaven, storm into the Purple Cloud Palace, and smash the head of Hongjun, the lackey of the Heavenly Dao!]

The heavens are dead! The dragon-led heavens shall rise!

When Yin and Yang are in disarray, I will stain the heavens with dragon's blood!

[Di Jun: ...]

"Quickly! The Demon-Slaying Platform!" Emperor Jun cried out in terror to the heavenly soldiers and generals, who swiftly took you away while you were still spouting nonsense. Then, on the Demon-Slaying Platform, he publicly announced that you had committed "blasphemy," "betrayal of your master and ancestors," and "attempt to bewitch the emperor"... in short, your crimes were heinous, and you were sentenced to death immediately!

You died; a wrong choice led to a wrong ending...

"Damn! I knew it."

Watching the protagonist being hastily sent to the Demon-Slaying Platform by the eager-to-cut-up Emperor Jun, Zhao Si couldn't help but rub his forehead, knowing that this game wasn't so easy to choose.

"Then slide on your knees."

Time has turned back...

Faced with the Heavenly Emperor's question, what would you choose?

[A: Slide to your knees! Heaven's will cannot be defied. Being a dog of humanity is a wonderful thing! B: Start the slaughter! Heaven's will cannot be defied? Celestial Dragons, die! Eliminate every single human being without exception! C: Defying Heaven! Heaven is ruthless, treating all things like straw dogs. If Heaven shows favoritism, then Heaven is wrong!]

Choose A!

[You chose option A, so you slide to your knees. Fate cannot be defied; being a human's dog is a wonderful thing!]

[You pessimistically stated that the human race's dominance over the demon race is already predetermined, and that rather than futile resistance, a dignified surrender is preferable. You suggested that the Heavenly Emperor, with a jade in his mouth, a lamb in his hand, and a coffin in his hand, lead the Heavenly Empress, the Heavenly Consort, the Eastern Emperor, the Demon Master, and all the Demon Saints to Shouyang Mountain to surrender to the human race.]

[In this way, without causing widespread bloodshed, the mad monkey retains his status, more effectively maintaining peace in the primordial world, promoting cultural exchange among different demon races, and ensuring national security and happiness for the people—is this not wonderful?]

[As for which human leader to surrender to? You stated that as the great chieftain of the human race, you are accomplished in both literature and martial arts, and exceptionally brave, making you the perfect candidate to accept surrender. As the future Heavenly Emperor, you will surely govern the prehistoric world to great prosperity!]

[Di Jun: ...]

"Get out!" Emperor Jun roared. Sensing something was wrong, you struggled free from the heavenly soldiers' restraints, and with a shout, lunged towards Emperor Jun's throne!

[You were the first person of the entire human race to be captured, and afterwards, the Heavenly Court's interrogation of you was the most rigorous...]

You died; a wrong choice led to a wrong ending...

"Fine, I'll die even if I slide on my knees."

Zhao Si didn't want to wait any longer and clicked to go back in time:

Time has turned back...

Faced with the Heavenly Emperor's question, what would you choose?

[A: Slide to your knees! Heaven's will cannot be defied. Being a dog of humanity is a wonderful thing! B: Start the slaughter! Heaven's will cannot be defied? Celestial Dragons, die! Eliminate every single human being without exception! C: Defying Heaven! Heaven is ruthless, treating all things like straw dogs. If Heaven shows favoritism, then Heaven is wrong!]

"B! Start the massacre!"

Zhao Si closed his eyes, prepared to die again, and began carefully planning how to write his strategy later:

"How am I supposed to write this...?"

[You chose option B: Start the massacre! The will of Heaven cannot be defied! Celestial Dragons, die! Wipe out every single human being without exception!]

[You passionately declare that the demon race is the true protagonist of the primordial world, a declaration of Heaven? A mere arbitrary decree! The demon race refuses to obey! My fate is in my own hands, not in the hands of Heaven!]

[So what if they're just humans, destined to be protagonists? Before absolute power, all destiny is nothing but toilet paper! Begin the slaughter! Slaughter them all!]

[Upon hearing your extreme suggestion, Di Jun was overjoyed. Great minds think alike, and the two quickly reached an agreement. You, the Great Chieftain of the human race, would act as an inside agent to prevent any remnants of human power from remaining, while Di Jun would guide public opinion among the demon race, creating "fear of humans and anxiety," thus passively inciting a wave of anti-human sentiment across the entire demon race.]

[You curiously ask why they didn't just send a powerful expert to raze the human race to the ground? Di Jun replies that it's because the human race is the chosen one, and if they were to directly attack, it would trigger the Heavenly Dao's repercussions, and even a sage would suffer the consequences. Therefore, the Heavenly Court dares not act directly.]

[But if it were a spontaneous massacre by the entire demon race, surely Heaven couldn't have wiped out the entire prehistoric world?]

And so, the plan was set and quietly put into action...
