Fan Chenxin's cool, low voice sounded out of place in the noisy underground arena, and the rough cotton cloth pressed against Jiang Yining's cheek with his irresistible force.

Jiang Yining moved closer to his broad chest, her fingertips subtly hooking the hem of his monk's robe.

"You monk are getting better and better at showing compassion."

Fan Chenxin pressed his thumb heavily on her cheekbone through the cotton cloth, a morbid possessiveness churning in his dark eyes, as he wiped the last bit of blood off her face.

"You have long since crushed my Buddhist heart. Now this body is filled with nothing but greed for you. I no longer care about the smell of blood."

Hu Yanlie jumped down from the high stands, striding enthusiastically to Jiang Yining, completely ignoring the dangerous-looking man beside him.

"Madam Jiang, you have excellent skills. Today's preliminary selection is just a formality. The Hundred Cities Beast Fighting Tournament in three days will be the real battleground. If you can win the championship for our Barbarian Stone City, you can choose any of the treasures in the City Lord's Mansion."

Jiang Yining tossed the bloody bone spur onto the sand, a half-smile playing on her lips. Her gaze swept past Huyan Lie's broad shoulders to the grim-faced clan leader above the stands.

"Verbal promises are meaningless. I want 50% of the mining rights to that top-grade blood crystal vein in your Barbarian Stone City, plus ten of your strongest body cultivator guards at my command. I will not step onto the stage if you lack any of them."

The clan leader was so angry that he crushed the bone wine cup in his hand. He was about to lash out when Huyan Lie preemptively agreed.

"As long as Lady Jiang can help us maintain our ranking."

Jiang Yining casually took the contract scroll handed to her by Hu Yanlie, stuffed it into her bosom without even looking at it, and took Fan Chenxin's hand, walking out along the stone steps without looking back.

"I will be on the field on time in three days."

Three days later, the sun, carrying a scorching heat, poured down on the huge circular open-air arena of the Hundred Cities Beast Fighting Tournament.

The stands were packed with nobles and outlaws from dozens of cities, their deafening roars and curses mingling together, the air thick with the pungent smell of sweat and the lingering stench of blood.

Jiang Yining wore a close-fitting soft armor made of snow wolf skin. Her slender waist and long, straight legs were dazzlingly white in the sunlight. As soon as she entered the preparation area, she attracted countless greedy and lewd gazes.

Tuba, the city lord of Giant Axe City, was a burly giant covered in black hair. He carried a huge double-edged axe stained with dark red blood and led a dozen or so men to block the entrance to the passage of Savage Stone City.

Tuba's murky eyes roamed freely over Jiang Yining's body, his thick lips uttering extremely vulgar mockery.

"Old man Huyan is really getting worse as he gets older. He actually found a tender young woman to fill the space. She might be good in bed, but if you throw her into a beast cage, she probably wouldn't even fill a gap between the beast's teeth."

Hu Yanlie drew his long sword and was about to rush forward to fight, but Jiang Yining stopped him.

Jiang Yining didn't even look at the giant. She lowered her head and slowly wrapped the protective strip on her wrist, her tone as contemptuous as if she were commenting on a pile of rotten flesh.

"I thought something was blocking the way, but it turned out to be an untamed black-haired wild boar barking wildly here."

Tuba's face twitched violently as he raised his heavy axe and pointed it directly at Jiang Yining's face, the axe blade radiating a violent blood aura typical of a peak Body Tempering Realm cultivator.

"Don't be so arrogant, you bitch. When you get on the field, I'll let you taste what it's like to be torn to pieces by the monsters. By then, even if you kneel on the ground begging me to train you, it will be too late."

Fan Chenxin stepped forward and stood in front of Jiang Yining. His eyes, which were originally calm and still, were now filled with a chilling coldness like that of ten thousand years of ice. One hand gripped the heavy back of the giant axe.

The veins on the back of his hand bulged, and he managed to stop the axe from advancing any further with just his physical strength. A muffled sound was squeezed out from deep in his throat.

"If you dare look at her with those disgusting eyes again, I'll make you regret being born right now."

Tuba felt a terrifying resistance coming from the axe, and was greatly alarmed. Just as he was about to grit his teeth and urge all his blood and qi to exert his strength, an unusually piercing gong sound came from the center of the arena.

"Jiang Yining, representing Barbarian Stone City, enters the arena to face a third-tier mutated ferocious beast, regardless of life or death."

Jiang Yining patted Fan Chenxin's tense back with her other hand, soothing his nerves that were about to explode in a voice that only the two of them could hear.

"Don't waste your energy on this dying man. Keep an eye on April for me."

She leaped over Tuba's massive body and gracefully entered the enormous cage made of ten-inch-thick steel.

The moment her feet touched the ground, the steel gate of the cage emitted a dull metallic scraping sound as three heavy iron locks were firmly fastened from the outside.

Jiang Yining keenly sensed a strange, pale purple mist seeping from the sand beneath her feet. It was the Purple Soul Incense, a special incense used in the Martial Spirit Realm to drive strange beasts mad, with a smell so strong it was nauseating.

The gate on the other side of the cage was violently ripped open, and a purple crystal blood tiger, over five zhang long, rushed out with a foul stench.

The blood tiger's fur was an eerie purplish-red, and its eyes resembled two burning will-o'-the-wisps. It had clearly been fed a large amount of berserk drugs beforehand, completely losing its rationality and leaving only the most primal killing instinct.

Hu Yanlie, his eyes red with anxiety, gripped the stone railing and roared down at the crowd below.

"Madam Jiang, quickly retreat to the edge! This is a peak third-tier Amethyst Blood Tiger. Its claws can easily tear through Xuan Iron. That son of a bitch, Tuba, bribed the manager to harm you!"

Jiang Yining didn't even glance at the platform. She pressed her legs down slightly, like a fully drawn bow, her gaze fixed on the ferocious beast that was drooling.

"Shut your mouth. You're just a sick cat. I don't need you to teach me how to kill you."

Tuba let out an extremely arrogant laugh from the high platform opposite, the sound echoing endlessly in the empty arena.

"Let's see how long this bitch can keep up her stubbornness. When the Purple Crystal Blood Tiger goes berserk, even elders at the Qi and Blood Realm have to give way. Today, I'm going to watch her turn into a pile of minced meat!"

Fan Chenxin handed the five treasures in his arms to Huyan Lie's confidant. His tall and imposing body burst forth with terrifying speed, directly leaping over the railing of the stands and crashing heavily onto the sandy ground at the edge of the arena.

He ignored the guards who rushed up to stop him, punching each of the troublesome bastards away, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at the steel cage that imprisoned Jiang Yining.

The Amethyst Blood Tiger let out a deafening roar, its massive body transforming into a streak of purple lightning. It opened its gaping maw, large enough to swallow a bull, and lunged at Jiang Yining's head.
