Chapter 94 Game Information
Inside the base, in Tony's studio, it was more chaotic than any Tony studio Lin Yi had ever seen.
Various instruments, parts, and documents were piled up everywhere, a complete mess.
"Don't worry about these things." Tony kicked aside the parts box blocking their way and hurriedly pulled Lin Yi to a large screen.
"Here, put this on." Tony took a bracelet with a cable that connected to a large instrument.
"The Individual Strength Detector can detect your physical strength and X gene."
"Jarvis, play the data from the gladiatorial combat tournament a week ago and filter out the race currently ranked 19th," Tony ordered, his eyes gleaming.
"Oh right, friend, tea or coffee?" Tony suddenly remembered something and clapped his hands. "Or maybe some whiskey?"
A small, self-propelled robot drove over, carrying various drinks and snacks. Its vibrant colors and cartoonish design didn't quite fit Tony's style; it seemed more suited to Morgan.
Tony pulled a bottle of whiskey from under the table, though he had no idea where he had originally hidden it.
Lin Yi took the bracelet but didn't put it on. Instead, he carefully looked around at his surroundings.
This is the third Tony I've met, and also the most disheveled one. He seems to be having a really tough time in life.
"Put it on. It's just to test your physical strength, nothing more," Tony reminded him.
"Okay, but I'm not a mutant." Lin Yi looked at the bracelet, scanned it with his super vision and found that it was indeed not a threat, so he put it on his wrist.
"It's alright. It can detect more than just the X gene. As long as you have extraordinary abilities that are not ordinary, it can detect them."
With a click, the bracelet closed, and a faint light appeared in the center.
Meanwhile, Jarvis had already displayed the match data on the screen.
To help Lin Yi understand better, the scene begins from the outer perimeter of the planet.
Lin Yi had seen this kind of deep space scene before; it was very familiar to him. In the very center of the image was a landscape of interwoven ochre and green hues, along with vast blue areas. Blue oceans covered nearly half of the planet, land made up a third, and the rest was vegetation.
"This is the planet Taklaru," Tony explained, "and it's also the venue for this gladiatorial combat tournament."
The camera quickly pans to the ground, revealing a massive arena on the screen. It's the size of several ancient buildings pieced together, surrounded by high, walled stands with seating, and numerous giant screens dot the sky. This is presumably for the convenience of the spectators in the stands.
"Planet Taklaru is the planet that was eliminated in the first round of the last race survival competition."
"In the end, it became the Grandmaster's slave planet, and this competition used it as the arena for the battle."
Lin Yi frowned: "The fighting competition is being held on a planet? If there are strong opponents, won't it leave the planet riddled with holes?"
Tony pursed his lips. "The Grandmaster won't care, but the planet Taklaru has a rather unique mass. Its gravity is 2.3 times that of the planet we're standing on, and the native materials on the planet are also quite durable."
"There is destruction, but very few people go all out before the final round, which is held in space. Of course, the same applies to the other two events."
"That's not the point. Let's look at the 19 teams that have the best chance of making it to the finals," Tony said, swiping his hand to divide the huge screen into 19 sections.
The creatures on it were almost all strange-looking alien beings, such as those with fish heads and cow bodies, those made entirely of rock, and silicon-based life forms.
There are also humanoid creatures, among which the race most similar to humans are those with whiskers by their ears and tails behind them.
The scene showed their fighting style, and Lin Yi noticed that the Celestial Venerable did not prohibit them from using weapons.
Tony explained from the side, "What you see is the Qisang race, from the planet Qisang. Their genes are very similar to those of the salamanders on Earth, which is why they have powerful regenerative abilities. As long as more than half of their bodies are not destroyed at once, they can slowly recover."
"And this rocky creature has a simple name: they come from the planet Giant Race, and their race is Giant Race. Don't ask me why they're called that; that's what it means when you translate it. Jarvis speculates that they worship enormous objects."
"Their defenses are incredibly strong..."
Tony introduced each race one by one, during which Scar Strange and his group also walked in.
"Tony, is it true that Strange said he wants to apply to switch to gladiatorial combat?" Steve's voice rang out as he looked Lin Yi over with a very serious expression.
Tony stopped explaining and glanced at Steve and Clint.
"We haven't decided whether to participate in the gladiatorial combat yet; we're just analyzing the situation for our interdimensional friends," Tony said, pointing to the screen. "However, even if we do confirm participation, I don't think we should request a change of competition category. Instead—we should participate in both categories."
Steve and Clint exchanged a glance, their expressions softening slightly, as if they had breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Yi noticed this unusual detail and asked curiously, "Is it possible to participate in two competitions at the same time?"
“You can participate in all three,” Strange explained. “The planetary rewards will be distributed based on the rankings of the two categories, but the Grandmaster’s mystery reward will only be given out once.”
He then turned to Tony, as if to say something, but his lips moved and no sound came out.
Lin Yi saw it clearly: he guessed that Steve and Clint, including Tony, couldn't fully trust him. If he applied to change the competition and only participate in one event, it would be equivalent to betting everything on Lin Yi.
Retaining the speed race is their only option.
Having figured this out, Lin Yi didn't blame them; he would have done the same if he were in their shoes.
"Let's not talk about that for now. It's a bit awkward to keep calling you 'friend.' Your name is Lin Yi, right? I'll call you Lin for now, okay?" Tony put on a smile again.
Lin Yi nodded, agreeing, and raised her wrist: "When will this test finish? Does it really take this long?"
Upon hearing this, Tony frowned and glanced at the bracelet: "It's working fine, Jarvis?"
"Sir, we are detecting an unknown force field on the target surface. The current analytical accuracy is only 0.617%."
Upon hearing this, Tony and the others' expressions changed slightly, and their gazes toward Lin Yi became even more incredulous.
"...How's the superhard alloy that got knocked away earlier?" Tony asked after a moment of silence.
"With the impact of Mr. Lin Yi and the recoil of the superhard alloy itself, the flight speed has reached 337 times the speed of sound. I think it will begin a space journey, Sir."
Tony thought about the direction in which it was launched and then asked, "Will its trajectory affect other planets in the solar system?"
"Not for now, Sir. The superhard alloy is still accelerating under the effect of the shock."
Tony breathed a sigh of relief. Although superhard alloys were relatively expensive, they weren't that rare in the universe, and he couldn't be bothered to intercept or capture the piece of metal that had been knocked away.
"How much force did you use to strike?" Tony asked Lin Yi. He didn't ask the person in front of him to remove the unknown force field so that Jarvis could analyze it. Without knowing Lin Yi's habits and personality, this action would be somewhat offensive.
