Chapter 152 The Captain Has Been Controlled?
As for the other, smaller transport ships, they sent even more incoherent, even pleading messages, saying that their resources and technology had been completely lost during the long space voyage. They begged Earth to allow a minority of their people to land, or to provide basic material assistance beyond isolation equipment.
Tony's reply was simple and direct: if logging in didn't work, resources could be exchanged; if they had nothing, they could exchange spaceship technology.
In short, don't even think about setting up camp on Earth, and don't expect any free aid either.
Time ticked by, and after receiving no reply for a long time, Tony rubbed his slightly uncomfortable left wrist and got up to go home.
Meanwhile, on the edge of the Avengers base, in a single dormitory room.
Steve sat quietly on the edge of the bed, the room dark. The only light outside shone through the window, casting a blurry shadow on his face.
Steve sat upright, his hands flat on his knees, staring blankly at the wall, his eyes vacant, as if his soul had left his body, which looked somewhat eerie.
After an unknown amount of time, Steve suddenly moved, his eyes lighting up as if he had received some signal. Then he began to speak rapidly, his voice distorted and strange, not in any known language of Earth.
Jarvis quickly recorded this bizarre scene and sent it to Tony.
Tony had just finished dinner and was sitting in his living room. He turned on his communicator and watched Steve chatter away like a robot, then fall silent.
With a furrowed brow, Tony tapped the audio waveform on the screen and zoomed in on Steve's face.
"What is he saying? Is he communicating with something?" Tony pondered. "And why does he have to make sounds? If he's reporting something to someone, there shouldn't be such a flawed outward display..."
"Jarvis, can you analyze the type of language he's using? Or what its possible meaning is?"
"We're attempting a comparative analysis, Sir. The database covers known Earth languages, universal languages, and a few other languages recorded in the StarNet, but Mr. Steve's language has less than a 1% match with any known language. The analysis will require more time and samples," Jarvis quickly provided the data.
Tony hissed, "Send this video to Lin Yi first. He's been running around the multiverse lately and has seen more strange things than we have. Maybe he knows something."
After saying that, Tony sighed. Just as he had imagined, Steve had run into some trouble. Now, the only question was whether Steve was being controlled or had been kidnapped, and if this was an imposter. As for the claim that Steve had betrayed Earth? Tony simply wouldn't believe that.
Inside the cabin, Lin Yi yawned groggily, clicking his tongue as he looked at the important document marked in red that Tony had sent him. A little annoyed at being disturbed, he opened the file anyway.
After watching the video for a while with a frown, Lin Yi sent Tony a message: "What the hell is he saying? I can't understand a word he's saying."
"But he doesn't seem quite lucid. Should I go over and give him a couple of punches to bring him to his senses?"
The message had barely been sent when Tony replied: "I think it's a good idea. I'll have Jarvis help him choose a nice burial site in advance." The message was followed by an eye-rolling emoji. Lin Yi wondered when he'd learned that; maybe Morgan was using it to tease him?
Lin Yi smiled silently, put down his phone, and casually turned his head, his super vision aiming at the direction of the Avengers base.
His gaze swept across the buildings, finally settling precisely on Steve in the dormitory.
In Lin Yi's view, Steve's body structure, bio-energy field, and a series of other information were presented.
Steve was still the same Steve, with nothing unusual about him, except for the lost look on his face.
He wasn't disguised by the Skrulls, but Lin Yi felt that he was being controlled by something. However, after observing him for a while, he couldn't find any unusual energy signals or fluctuations in Steve's body.
Does the anomaly only occur during communication?
Just as he was about to look away, Lin Yi turned his gaze back and gave everyone at the Avengers base a thorough check. Fortunately, only Steve was in this condition so far.
Picking up her phone again, Lin Yi sent her guess to Tony.
"It's probably being controlled by something, but we don't know how it's done yet. There are no unusual fluctuations."
"Are they Skrulls? Can you tell?" Tony replied, impressed by this alien race that could transform into anyone.
"No, there's no trace of mind control or magic. The methods are very subtle and can't be detected in a short time."
"Okay, I'll keep monitoring it. Let's leave it for now and see if we can draw out anything."
"By the way, I've given all the alien races twelve hours, until around noon tomorrow. If any of them are still there by then, you can go and show off your skills, okay?"
Lin Yiku pressed four letters: "OJBK!"
After sending the message, Lin Yi tossed his phone aside and lay back down.
"Life in the Marvel Universe is so exciting, but it's also a bit tiring," Lin Yi muttered to himself, then turned slightly to look at the shield waiting on the table.
Even if you have a lot of lice, you won't be afraid of being bitten. There are still many unknowns, so we can take it one step at a time. Since learning that his parents were busy with these things in the universe, Lin Yi has become more open-minded about many things.
……
By noon the next day, most of the alien transport ships had completed the exchange of supplies and set sail from the Earth's perimeter toward deep space.
The Cagros transport ship, which made threats yesterday, not only showed no intention of leaving, but also bared its fangs.
The transport ship's outer armor plates were opened, revealing rows of high-energy weapons. They even began releasing small advance warships, forming a dense attack net in front of the transport ship, clearly intending to force their way onto Earth.
"A bunch of idiots," Tony sighed, shaking his head.
Judging from this situation, it's clear that this alien race never came with a peaceful mindset from the beginning.
Not far from them, there were some transport ships flying at a snail's pace, clearly preparing to see what was going on and whether there was an opportunity to also gain some benefits on Earth.
"Lin, there's no other way, it's your turn to go." Tony pointed at the screen and turned to look at Lin Yi beside him.
Lin Yi stretched, stood up from the sofa, and yawned.
