Chapter 143 The Strange Salamander Clan from 7 Years Ago

After leaving this area, Lin Yi, relying on his memory, returned to the Alpha Fan Galaxy and found the planet inhabited by the Qi Yuan Clan.

He didn't land directly at the entrance of the cave from seven hundred years ago. Instead, he first used his super vision to scan the area from a distance. The salamanders who used to live here were gone, and the vegetation was much denser than he remembered. Judging from the surroundings, the salamanders must have left a long time ago, leaving no trace of their presence.

I have a bad feeling. The portal can enhance the reproduction of the salamanders. If the salamanders have migrated away, either the portal has disappeared or they have been transferred.

Stepping into the cave, it is completely different from what it was seven hundred years ago. The glowing moss on the cave walls has long since withered and disappeared, replaced by a dense mass of shady vegetation that covers the entire cave.

At the deepest part of the cave, where the portal to light once stood, it was now completely empty, just as Lin Yi had expected.

"Oh?" The shield perched on Lin Yi's shoulder poked out its mechanical lizard head, its eyes shooting out scanning beams that scanned the cave inside and out.

"No traces of energy fluctuations were found. It looks like an ordinary cave, and based on the existing traces, it has been uninhabited for at least several hundred years."

"It seems that either your memory is faulty, or this lead has gone cold."

"It's not completely dead yet," Lin Yi said calmly. "Go ask the Qi Yuan tribe who still live here. If even they know nothing about the disappearance of the light gate, or don't know any useful information, then this lead will truly be dead."

He unleashed his senses, and invisible fluctuations swept across the entire planet. Soon, he located the area where the Qi Yuan tribe was currently gathered and living.

This was an area close to warm seas, and the settlements were much smaller and the buildings simpler than he had seen seven hundred years ago.

Good heavens, seven hundred years have passed, and life has become even more difficult?

Lin Yi leaped toward the settlement, but his senses suddenly detected a familiar fluctuation.

Lin Yi followed the ripples and saw a blue-haired, blue-tailed salamander on a shallow beach (this is not the female lead, but I should mention that).

Upon seeing the face, it instantly overlapped with the face of the salamander who had previously insulted him, and it was also almost identical to the face of Xing, the salamander he had encountered seven hundred years ago.

Lin Yi silently floated over. This strange salamander was currently wiping her racing car, which she was using in the competition, on the beach. Wasn't that a bit reckless? Washing a car with seawater—wouldn't it corrode it?

Lin Yi shook his head. Okay, maybe they used some unusual materials. We can't judge aliens just based on common sense from Earth.

Lin Yi slowly landed behind the strange salamander.

The blue-tailed salamander hummed an unintelligible tune as she continued to diligently wipe the car. But soon, her ears twitched, as if she had caught the sound of Lin Yi landing on the beach. She instantly turned around and assumed a fighting stance, casting a wary glance at him.

But when they saw it was Lin Yi, their eyes suddenly lit up, and they dropped the car-wiping cloth in their hands and ran over here.

Upon closer inspection, Lin Yi realized his earlier assessment was indeed correct. The one that had been cursing him, the one he had encountered seven hundred years ago, and the strange salamander before him now were all likely the same salamander!

However, just to be on the safe side, he decided to confirm it.

When the salamanders reached her, Lin Yi looked at her still large eyes, but the timid childlike gaze of yesteryear was gone. He tentatively called out, "Xing?"

The blue-tailed salamander's eyes brightened noticeably, and its tail swayed slightly involuntarily: "It really is you! You remembered me?"

She leaned closer, scrutinizing Lin Yi's face, her tone filled with astonishment: "You really are a 'god,' aren't you? Races that resemble humans from Earth don't have such long lifespans! And you haven't changed at all since seven hundred years ago!"

Lin Yi touched his nose. Well, this Xing's personality seems much more lively and outgoing than when she was a child, even a bit too familiar with people.

Of course, he himself hadn't changed much. He had just traveled back seven hundred years, not lived for seven hundred years!

"Ahem, he's not a god. Also, didn't I tell you not to learn the phrase 'bastard' or 'scoundrel'? It's not a good word."

If it really is a god, aren't you afraid of offending it by looking at it like it's a magical creature?

"Of course I know!" Xing pouted. "But you pretended not to know me during the competition last time, so I thought saying this would remind you."

Hmm? So it wasn't him deliberately insulting himself? But rather they were exchanging secret signals?

Lin Yi was speechless. He hadn't been pretending before, had he? He genuinely didn't know her!

"Alright... something unexpected happened last time, and the situation became a bit complicated." Lin Yi decided not to dwell on it and cut straight to the point: "Do you remember why I came here seven hundred years ago?"

Xing thought for a moment and replied, "Are you investigating the portal of light in the cave? And the two false gods who descended earlier? Right?"

"False gods?" Lin Yi remained noncommittal. It seemed that the Qi Yuan Clan's understanding of the Celestial Clan and the Zhi Guang Clan had changed somewhat. He wondered if he had played a part in this.

"Never mind that. I just went to check the cave, and the portal to light has disappeared. Do you know what happened? Do you know exactly when it disappeared?"

Xing nodded. "I know! More than seven hundred years ago, not long after you left, that door mysteriously disappeared!"

"The tribe was in a state of panic at the time, and even the old chieftain wondered if you were the one who did it!"

As she spoke, Xing's eyes darkened. "Without that door, the fertility of the Qi Yuan tribe has declined again. Now, there are almost no newborns that can be born naturally, and the number of tribe members has been decreasing for various reasons..."

Lin Yi ignored the last sentence and was puzzled by the words "disappeared automatically".

His brow furrowed. If it had been damaged or removed by external force, traces could be found. But if it disappeared on its own, that's hard to say.

It could be a pre-installed program, or it could have been remotely closed or reclaimed?

Judging from how the Celestials and the Wisdom Clan swaggered onto the Qi Yuan Clan's planet, they clearly didn't take the Qi Yuan Clan seriously. They shouldn't have deliberately avoided the Qi Yuan Clan to take away the portal, right? This is obviously illogical.

Speechless. I was originally planning to study the portal more closely. The shield's ability is stronger than I imagined. It can even infiltrate the Lightbringer's clan network. What if it can scan out something different about the portal?
