Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 518 Acquiring the World

During this time, as Lynn's reputation for providing answers grew, even the veterans couldn't sit still any longer.

Some laboratories within the college have also approached him, asking him to help optimize experimental designs or debug equipment, and even participate in experimental projects.

Most of the lab directors were older and more experienced than him, but when they encountered bottlenecks, they didn't care about saving face.

Write a letter of authorization and deliver it to his lab door, with a brief description of the problem and a quote attached.

After receiving the request, Lynn usually gives a response on the same day or the next day, or goes to the laboratory to check and resolve the issue in person.

His replies were never long-winded; sometimes it was a paragraph of text, sometimes a revised drawing, and sometimes just a few words, but they always hit the nail on the head.

After receiving the reply, most of the laboratories would send a letter of thanks and additional compensation.

In some experimental projects that Lynn personally participated in, after the experiments were successful, Lynn's name would be added to the project members as a token of appreciation.

Although a portion of the reward will be given to Lynn, the small reward is nothing compared to the opportunity to get to know and befriend such a capable person.

Who doesn't encounter a problem?

But Lynn was able to solve the problem that had been bothering you for years with just a few words. That's real skill!

In addition to rewards, there is also the accumulation of "researcher" performance.

In just a few months, more than twenty experimental projects bearing Lynn's name were launched, and most of them were successful.

This propelled Lynn from "intermediate researcher" to "senior researcher," putting him on par with Gregor, who had been studying him for over a century.

Over the course of several months, Lynn's magic stones accumulated to over a million.

This number isn't much among veteran Stigmata Wizards, but it's quite significant for a Stigmata Wizard who has only recently been promoted.

Lynn's own assessment of this was simple:

"Knowledge is money, that's definitely true."

With the magic stone in hand, he naturally wanted to find the next world.

The best-case scenario is encountering another medium-sized world like the Origin Realm, which would allow him to advance to the mid-level of the Saint Mark in one go.

He had looked at all the planets and worlds listed by the academy, and the prices were outrageously high, with a small world costing a million magic stones.

Some medium-sized worlds are not only expensive, but even if you buy one, you only have the title of world lord in name only; you have to take actual control yourself.

He went through the task list every day for several months without finding any new suitable targets.

So he changed his approach, having the shops under his protection spread the word through their respective channels:

Acquiring information about medium-sized worlds not included in the academy's database, if verified to be true and valid, will not only reward you with generous magic stones, but also allow you to have a Saint-level expert assist you once for free.

The news caused quite a stir.

A Saint-level expert can help you once for free – this offer is more attractive than magic stones!

Under normal circumstances, the appearance fee for a Saint-level expert alone would be over 200,000 magic stones, and the selling price would be calculated separately.

Many people wanted to get to know this newly promoted Stigmata Wizard, but no one who could actually provide information appeared.

Those who have access to world information either teamed up with a few friends to take it down early on, or reported it to the academy and received a reward early on; they wouldn't keep the information to themselves.

If we keep it in our hands, what if someone else gets there first, or reports it to the authorities in advance? Wouldn't that be a huge loss?

Lynn wasn't in a hurry.

The news has been released, and the bait has been laid; whether any fish will take the bait remains to be seen.

In addition, news often came from the goblins, but unfortunately it was not the news Lynn wanted.

Three months after the first batch of spaceships set sail, Lynn's communication tablet rang for the first time.

He was in the lab looking through a commission form from another lab when the frequency of the slate vibrations was different from usual, more urgent than normal messages.

He picked it up and probed it with his spiritual power. A broken voice came from inside:

"Great Supreme God, this is the seventh squad of the Exploration Ship... We have been attacked by monsters... in large numbers... our engine is damaged... We request backup..."

The voice paused briefly when it said the word "support," as if the communicator had been jammed by something, then resumed, but the voice was weaker: "Coordinates sent... Requesting support..."

Without hesitation, Lynn stood up, walked out of the laboratory, and went to the teleportation hall.

The apprentice on duty saw him, stood up and bowed. He said, "No need to register," and then walked onto the teleportation array, whereupon the white light disappeared.

After several teleportations, he appeared on the nearest teleportation planet, then summoned the Chaos Dragon, mounted its back, and flew towards the coordinates.

The Chaos Dragon was very fast; each flap of its wings left a long, thin fold in space behind it, but the void was too vast.

The journey took a long time, and when Lynn arrived at the coordinates, all that remained was a floating wreckage; the goblins were long gone.

The edges of the fragments were broken metal plates and twisted pipes. Several fragments still bore traces of being gnawed, with clear outlines and neat edges.

The main body of the spaceship was gone, and the engine debris was scattered over a range of several miles. Some of the fragments had cooled down, while others were still warm.

There were no living creatures or corpses.

The swarm of star insects has left; they move very quickly and usually don't stay in the same area for long.

Lynn stood in the void, looking at the fragments, and remained silent for a while.

Since we're already here, we can't leave empty-handed, can we?

Then he raised his right hand and collected the remaining scents and traces of the insect swarm.

Finally, following the clues, they located the swarm, collected them into their small world, and threw them into the insect nest area on the outskirts of the Island of Death. They then used the power of death to slowly erode them, turning them into undead.

These insect swarms could make up for the energy he expended while traveling, so the trip wasn't a complete waste.

Later, the communication tablet rang a few more times, not frequently, but each time it meant that a spaceship had encountered trouble.

The second distress call came from a spaceship that had encountered a void storm.

The storm came quickly and went quickly. Fortunately, it was only the outermost edge of the storm; otherwise, the spaceship wouldn't have even had a chance to send a distress signal.

The spaceship's engine compartment was breached, its propulsion system was paralyzed, and the entire ship was floating in the void, unable to turn or accelerate, although the communicator was still barely functional.

After receiving the message, Lynn asked a few questions and confirmed that the spaceship was not in danger of disintegrating and that there were no enemies nearby.

Have the astronauts put on protective suits, turn off non-essential equipment, and wait for rescue.

When he arrived, the spaceship had been adrift for more than two days, still had enough supplies, and everyone was still there.

He retrieved the spaceship directly into the small world, then deployed another twenty spaceships in the same spot before returning to the academy.

After these two rescues, Lynn also had an idea.

All things considered, my own travel expenses are far more valuable than these spaceships and goblins. If I were to keep going like this every day, even the wealthiest family wouldn't be able to keep up.

Okay, let's just treat them as consumables!
