Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!
Chapter 435 Flying Research Vessel
Anri, who was extremely bored, would come to watch the group of little green-skinned men repair the ship every day.
She squatted on the beach, watching the sailors hammer steel plates, weld cracks with welding torches, and wrap pipes with tape.
She didn't understand it, but she found it very interesting.
She had spoken with every goblin.
The captain told her about the history of the Goblin Empire, the achievements of its emperors, and the rise of the High God Court.
The first mate taught her navigation techniques, how to orient herself, how to avoid storms, and how to survive at sea.
The engineer explained the principles of the engine, the combustion of fuel, and the conversion of energy.
Scientists told her about the mysteries of the starry sky, the orbits of planets, and the light of stars.
Jim stayed by her side the whole time, helping her explain and taking notes.
Annie asked Jim, "Why are you always writing in your notebook?"
Jim said, "I want to record everything here and take it back to show my fellow countrymen."
Anli toured their boat.
The ship wasn't large, but it was packed with instruments and equipment. There were dozens of buttons and knobs on the control panel, and more than a dozen dials and indicator lights on the instrument panel.
Anli was dazzled by what she saw.
Jim pointed to the instruments and introduced them one by one.
This is a speedometer, this is a thermometer, this is a pressure gauge, this is an energy indicator, this is a communicator, and this is a radar.
Anli wanted Jim to demonstrate it again, but due to the strong magnetic field interference on the island, most of the instruments malfunctioned.
Over the course of a few days, Anli grew increasingly fascinated by the goblin world.
There are televisions, ice cream, cars that can run, and spaceships that can fly.
There are bustling cities, lively streets, delicious food, and fun entertainment.
There was no sign of death, no skeletons, no zombies, no ghosts; it was a world of the living.
That evening, Anli sat on the steps at the church entrance, resting her chin on her hands, watching the goblins busy at work.
The bone dragon lay behind her, its eyes closed.
The greyish-white sky darkened, and the distant sea was pitch black.
Anli suddenly stood up and ran into the church.
Lynn was sitting at Gregor's desk, flipping through the problems he had written down.
He would come every few days to deliver a batch of supplies and help his mentor solve some problems.
Anli pushed open the door and came in, her face flushed.
"Uncle-Master, I want to discuss something with you."
Lynn put down her notebook. "Speak."
"I want to go back to the world of those goblins and see for myself."
Lynn glanced at her. "You want to go to the goblin world?"
Anli nodded vigorously.
"I heard them say that there are many fun things in the goblin world."
"There's a TV, ice cream, cars, and spaceships. I want to go see them, and I also want to taste what the ice cream tastes like."
Lynn was silent for a few moments, then turned to look at Gregor.
Gregor was squatting in front of the control panel, fiddling with a petri dish. He didn't even look up when he felt the two people's gazes.
"Go if you want to."
Lynn nodded as well.
"Then go. If you want to come back, go to the Supreme Divine Court in the Imperial City and find Augustus."
Anri cheered, rushed over and hugged Gregor's neck, giving him a big kiss on the cheek.
Gregor's body stiffened, and the mist in the petri dish almost exploded.
He steadied the petri dish in his hand and glared at An Li.
Anli stuck out her tongue, then ran up to Lynn, stood on tiptoe, and leaned in to kiss his cheek.
A semi-transparent barrier appeared beside Lynn's face, and Anri's lips touched the barrier before bouncing back.
Her face flushed, and she took a step back, somewhat embarrassed.
"Uncle-Master, you're so stingy."
Lynn did not respond.
Anli stuck out her tongue and dashed off to play with the group of little green rascals.
Gregor put down the petri dish in his hand, walked to the workbench, and began to refine something.
The next day, Gregor called Anri over, took out three small beads, and placed them on the table.
The beads are gray with fine, flowing runes on their surface, and each one is only the size of a fingernail.
"These three beads are ones I just refined."
"The first one, once infused with spiritual energy, will activate the ability to understand languages, allowing you to comprehend the goblins' language. Hmm... if your spiritual energy isn't enough, you can also chant spells."
He pushed the first bead in front of Anli. "The spell is 'Knowledge,' and it can be used repeatedly after being charged."
Anli picked up the beads and examined them from all angles.
"The second one is the defense bead. When you encounter danger, crush it and it will form a shield on your body that can withstand attacks of level one or less."
He pushed the second bead in front of Anli. "The spell is 'Guardian'."
Anli picked up the second bead and placed it in her palm.
"The third one is an attack bead. When crushed, it will fire a death ray with the power of a first-level sorcery. Use it with caution."
He pushed the third bead in front of Anli. "The spell is 'Wither'."
Anli carefully put the three beads into the small pouch at her waist and patted the pouch.
"Thank you, Grandpa. I will definitely keep it safe."
Gregor waved his hand.
"Go, don't be stingy with it, your life is more important."
Anli nodded, picked up her packed luggage, ran out of the church, and rushed to the front of the wrecked ship.
The goblins were still busy; some were welding steel plates, some were tightening screws, and some were cleaning the engine.
Anli climbed onto the boat, stood on the deck, and spoke loudly.
"I want to go with you!"
The captain dropped the wrench he was holding, nearly hitting his own foot. The first mate poked his head out from the bridge, his mouth agape.
Jim was writing in his notebook when the tip of his pen pierced the paper.
The sailors stopped what they were doing and stared at Anri in disbelief.
The captain picked up the wrench. "Sir, are you coming back to the Goblin Empire with us?"
An Li nodded. "I've already spoken to my uncle and grandfather, and they've agreed."
The captain remained silent for a few moments.
"Sir, we are honored to take you back, but our ship is not yet repaired and we don't have enough fuel."
"The road back... is likely to be fraught with peril..."
Anli paused for a moment. "When can you fix it?"
The captain shook his head. "I don't know if there are any materials on Li Island. We can only scavenge from the garbage, so the chances of fixing it are slim."
Anli jumped off the boat and ran back to the church.
Lynn hadn't left yet; he was analyzing the knowledge within the memory library.
The time flow here is twice that of the main world, making it incredibly efficient for learning.
Anli rushed in, panting. "Uncle-Master, their ship can't be repaired, and they don't have enough fuel."
Lynn glanced sideways.
"What? You want my help?"
Anli nodded.
Lynn stood up and walked out of the church.
Anli followed behind.
The goblins, still gathered around the ship, paused for a moment when they saw Lynn approaching.
Then they saw Lynn's face clearly; it was exactly the same as the statue in the High Temple.
A black robe, a cold and hard face, and deep-set eyes.
Thump thump thump, the goblins all knelt on the ground.
Some people kowtowed to the black, scorched earth, some clasped their hands together and chanted prayers, and some trembled so badly they couldn't speak.
The captain knelt at the front, his voice trembling.
"The...Supreme God..."
Lynn didn't look at them. With a thought, Anri and all the goblins flew onto the ship involuntarily.
Lynn walked to the side of the ship and raised his right hand. The bone dragon flew down from the top of the church and landed next to the ship.
It lowered its head and rubbed its skull against Lynn's hand.
Lynn patted its skull.
"Send this ship to the capital."
The bone dragon raised its head, spread its wings, and let out a deep dragon roar.
The fine membranes on its wings shimmered with a faint blue light against the gray-white sky.
It stretched out its claws, grabbed the hull, and lifted the entire ship off the ground.
The ship lurched as it lifted off the ground, and several sailors lost their footing and fell onto the deck.
Anli stood at the bow of the boat, holding onto the railing, her eyes shining.
The goblins lay prone on the deck, too afraid to move.
The bone dragon took flight.
The ship floated in the air, carried by the bone dragon, flying towards the imperial city.
The wind whistled past her ears, and Anli's braids danced in the wind.
She opened her arms and shouted.
"It flew away! It flew away!"
The goblins lay sprawled on the deck; some peeked outside, some held their heads in their hands, and some chanted prayers.
Jim lay on the notebook, using his body to shield himself from the wind, and wrote in it.
"Riding the skeletal monster in flight is incredibly fast, the wind is strong, it's thrilling..."
