Dark Wizard: Rise! My undead army!

Chapter 41 Forging Death Knights

The next morning, Lynn arrived at Gregor's laboratory with a normal expression, as if nothing had happened the night before.

He found Gregor scratching his head while facing a pile of data skeletons and calmly began to speak:

"Mentor, I was attacked last night."

Gregor didn't even look up, giving a vague reply: "Um...attack? Fights are normal in academy, as long as no one's dead..."

"It was the Soul Reaper, Morpheus, who, through my roommate Kevin, placed a Flesh and Soul Stone under my bed, intending to extract my soul."

"Kevin has been killed by me, and his soul was teleported away by that stone."

Gregor's hand, which was scratching his hair, suddenly stopped. He finally raised his head, a sharp glint flashing in his cloudy eyes.

"Morpheus? That guy who likes to stitch souls together into monsters? He's got his eye on your super soul?"

He looked Lynn up and down.

"Are you alright?"

"I discovered it in time and dealt with it," Lynn said calmly.

Gregor clicked his tongue, a look of annoyance on his face:

"Troublesome...this is really troublesome."

"That Morpheus guy is like a carrion beetle in the shadows, disgusting and troublesome."

He stood up and paced a couple of steps in the cluttered laboratory.

"I will 'report' it to the college's disciplinary department." Gregor emphasized the word "report."

Clearly, this was merely a report to the college.

"But don't get your hopes up. Without direct evidence, based solely on your word, the Academy will never lay a hand on a third-circle wizard for the sake of an apprentice, especially since Morpheus is somewhat useful in soul research."

Lynn had expected this result, and he nodded.

Gregor stopped and looked at Lynn, still somewhat uneasy.

"Don't go back to that shabby dorm room for now. There's a small cubicle behind the lab where you can live from now on."

"I have set up a protective magic array here, and Soul Hunters also patrol the area regularly. Even if Morpheus is bold, he wouldn't dare to make a move here."

"Thank you, mentor." Lynn's thanks this time were more sincere.

His dormitory had no security measures whatsoever and was not safe at all. His advisor's method really solved his immediate problem.

"From now on, focus your attention on research and don't cause me any trouble. Work hard at your cultivation; strength is the foundation. Once you reach the formal wizard stage, you'll have far fewer problems."

Having said that, Gregor waved his hand and summoned a semi-transparent ghost servant.

"Go and get him a set of bedding and some personal items." He then looked at Lynn, "Is there anything else he needs?"

Lynn immediately spoke up:

"Mentor, I need the 'Basic Death Knight Crafting Guide', a copy of 'Resilient Undead Soul', and the corresponding materials: Black Ironwood Powder, Soul Binding Silk, and Corrupted Blood Ink."

Gregor raised an eyebrow: "You want to use Kevin's corpse to create a Death Knight? Tsk, that's making the most of it."

"However, the difficulty of crafting a Death Knight is not low. Kevin hasn't successfully condensed his spiritual core yet, has he? Without being cleansed by negative energy, the quality of the finished product probably won't be very high."

"Alright, consider it practice. I have these things in my lab, they're nothing special. Go get them from the third shelf on the east side."

He pointed in the direction and added.

"I'll give you a better quality 'Battle Remnant Soul,' which is stronger than an ordinary wandering soul."

"Okay, thank you, mentor!"

This is what a truly good mentor is like—thoughtful and generous, providing you with everything you need.

Much better than those mentors who are always worried about your health!

Soon, Lynn settled into a dusty cubicle in the corner of the laboratory. Although the room was cramped, it was safe.

Gregor was so engrossed in his research experiments that he seemed to forget to eat and sleep, which might have disturbed his meditation.

After finishing the preparations, Lynn did not delay. He selected the necessary materials from the materials shelf and immediately began to craft the Death Knight.

He first removed Kevin's stiff, folded body, then softened it using [magical trick] and laid it flat.

Following the refining guide, we began the actual operation.

This was his first time crafting undead, so he was inevitably a bit rusty.

Lynn first used his own negative energy to carefully cleanse the corpse, strengthening its bones and muscle fibers and preserving its innate characteristics from its lifetime.

If Kevin had been able to condense a "spiritual core" before his death, his body, after being cleansed of negative energy during his ascension, would have become an even more qualified "material".

At this moment, Lynn could only try his best to make amends.

After the rinsing was complete, Lynn carefully used the Soul-Binding Silk, which resembled silver spider silk, to weave a complex binding network around the corpse's limbs, bones, and core area.

This step is for better channeling of death energy and controlling the actions of the dead.

Finally, he used the putrid, foul-smelling blood ink to carve the master rune on the corpse's forehead and the energy nexus rune at the heart.

The entire process is tedious and meticulous, and Lynn must concentrate fully, otherwise the death knight he creates will be greatly diminished.

For several days, the laboratory was filled with a strange smell of negative energy, preservatives, and putrid blood ink.

Lynn gradually got used to the taste.

Sometimes, when he gets busy, he doesn't even have time to eat his wizard's meal, and he just picks a "buttock" from the "full-bodied mushroom" in the house and eats it.

That day, Lynn was carefully sketching an auxiliary rune when the laboratory door was pushed open.

A young apprentice, dressed in a flashy wizard's robe and with slicked-back hair, walked in humming a tune.

He was one of Gregor's other three apprentices, named Field.

That's the guy Gregor was talking about, the one who doesn't do his job properly and spends all his time trying to seduce the female apprentices under the tutelage of [Soulweaver] Marfa.

"Hey! A new face!"

Field spotted Lynn, who was busy at work, and his eyes lit up as he approached.

"You're the mentor's new junior? My name is Field, and I've been here for two years longer than you."

Lynn didn't stop what she was doing, she just gave a curt reply: "Lynn".

He wasn't particularly interested in the other apprentices under his mentor and had no intention of cultivating any relationships with them.

However, this junior brother of mine was able to live a carefree life in this dark wizard's academy for two years, so he must have some skills.

Field paid no attention to Lynn's indifference, preoccupied with examining the corpse and materials on the workbench:

"Tsk tsk, a Death Knight? A newbie playing this? That's got guts, junior brother!"

"However, your technique... well, it's a bit rough. You need to be gentler when wrapping the Soul Binding Silk around the Soul Core, otherwise it will affect your subsequent flexibility..."

While commenting, Field casually picked up a portion of extra black ironwood powder and sprinkled it on several joints of Lynn's body.

"This thing can increase the hardness."

Lynn glanced at him but didn't stop him.

This guy may seem unreliable, but his skills are definitely professional.
